LOL. Beauty's always at its very best in the eyes of the beholder. Ask the mother of the winner of an ugly baby contest if her babies beautiful. If she's a good mother she's going to look you straight in the eye and tell you yes, regardless of evidence elsewise. But FWIW the PT111 isn't a bad looking pistol...and the ones I've shot ran pretty good too.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_37840-432-FRAIL8T25N_0__?productId=3160291 Might require digging up or pulling back one of the fence posts and if you want it to look good paint or stain the entire fence. But bottom line materials availability is possible through Lowes or Home Deport and likely and reasonably sized lumber yard.

Most modern polymer framed striker fired pistol's are going to always be ugly ducklings. As long as they're ergonomically correct, mechanically reliable and consistently accurate to my ability to effectively shoot them then its a non issue to me.

Sheriff's employees may have profited during ammo shortage
TNWNGR replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Internal and county policies regarding use of computers and operating a for gain personal business would be interesting to know about in this particular matter. The taxation issue is outside the scope of agency authority and may or may not be addressed. But they've drawn enough attention to themselves now to be on notice. Its a question of ethics and ethical behavior...sore subjects but always critical to accountability and professional conduct. As to the K9 incident, I'm unfamiliar with it but if correct that probably had some backlash in court and has diminished future credibility. -
Your local police or sheriffs office should have a crime prevention officer who can come by and help with recommendations. But FWIW I'd be looking closely at any repair persons, carpet cleaners or delivery persons who've recently been inside your house. Next would be an overly chatty friend or family member. But some of the simplest fixes are good strong doors with dead bolt locks and a strong storm door with an exterior key lock. Next clear brush or anything obstructing line of sight from the roadway. Plant decorative thorn buses outside of all windows and make certain the window locks work and are used. Your electric utility company can place a security light on an available pole or put another pole in place for such a light. As for alarm companies others will have to help you there. If your set up for high speed internet and use and I-Phone you can use older I-Phones as a security camera you access remotely using an app.

If it's a pined front sight and you have a set of brass punches and a padded vise its a pretty simple job. All you need to do is order the right sight through Brownells or like company, take your time and do it.

Any good metal fabrication or welding shop can do that repair job and according to google-Fu you've several in your area. Additionally you can contact a local community college and inquire about having a class do the work with you providing the materials. I've had excellent results just going to the repair shop I'm interested in, looking at the layout and paying attention to how the treat me and answer my questions.

Well good for you and keep on keeping on!

FWIW from a historical and training stand point the TN HCP was initially a boondoggle with a lot of hurry up training for law enforcement after the fact rather then on the front side. Some LEA did a better job of getting the necessary information to line officers than others, some LEA took longer. A lot of the fear and suspicion generated at that time was fanned up by the media but after a bit of tempered tolerance and learning thing's normalized. Now we're far more excited or as some would say exercised by folks rather publically "demonstrating" rather then exercising their rights to Open Carry. Explaining the tactical absurdity of such activity to someone who demonstrates a distinct lack of awareness of situational risk only promotes further conflict. In reality a few public examples of such "hey notice me" folks getting robbed or killed and their handguns used by the assailant will only further harm handgun carry acceptance.

Don't forget the corncob and clay pipes in your hobby endeavor as materials are inexpensive and research material web wide or at the local library. http://pipedia.org/wiki/Pipe_Making http://pipedia.org/wiki/Materials_and_Construction

He's newsworthy and a marked man who's been exonerated by the court but condemned by the media, politicians and much of the public. Attention seekers and manipulator's are going to stay on him like stink on a skunk, which is a bit prophetic or pathetic as ever the case may be.

Actually yes, the ones made now look significantly better than the earliest ones manufactured and sold. Think along these lines, form follows function. Then think along the lines of maximizing profit while maintaining or even improving reliability. That blowback action pot metal slide mass thing really works. HPA got it right and I hope they continue to stay in business and we continue to poke playfully admiring fun at them.

For what? The TM shooting was a classic example of bad judgment and lack of common sense. Totally avoidable and deplorable but not criminal. Even though it still pisses me off even knowing the teen had a bad background and was headed towards more trouble I think he was pushed into a negative reaction. For domestic assaults? The court handles those in such a manner to be rehabalitive and corrective so prison time only comes from the worst of them. For being a disaster waiting to happen? Darwin pretty much demonstrates how those end in the evolutionary cycle. Bad example of gun ownership and HCP that he may have become GZ is still innocent until prosecuted and proven guilty. We of course have every right to think what we like about how he is going to end up.

Bottom line it depends on your body build and brand of pants you wear. For me the LCP works like a champ and a J frame Airweight with thin grips works, but only just. The XDs9 & G-26 would work with really deep reinforced pockets but are far better in an IWB or coat pocket mode. The G-43 is thinner & lighter then the 26 but still a touch to large for me to want one for pocket carry. I've carrier a PPk/s in the past, even tried to make it work for me as a pocket carry gun. Weight and size just weren't right for me.

I was stung on the back of my head by one of those buggers. It felt like I'd been hit by a baseball bat and after a couple of steps dropped me to my knees. Made me sick for a bit. Afterwards I poisoned all of the little monsters in that location.

Tandy leather company offers some really nice starter and project kits. Pre cut holster kits and knife sheaths are just a Google search away. Said kits have been fun projects for me and absent a good leather workers assistance been educational as well. I did go to my public library and read all of the leather working books. In the end it's a true gift and talent.

Guy's sure got a lot of self destructive and poor choice background issues going on in his life it seems.

The Shield 9 is indeed a great pistol and I'd recommend it myself when someone asked me for advice but the OP made a pretty good choice with the PF9. I say that because an awfully high number of people buy the little fire plugs and have little to no problems out of them. As others have said its sure not a range gun or one you train with a lot either. It's a CCW you run a mag through before leaving the range to maintain familiarity and just carry. Size wise I loved the one I had and if it'd had a larger trigger guard liked it even more so. K-T has IMHO improved on their QC but you still need to determine if what you've bought is a keeper or a stinker.

LOL. "Ugly as Sin & FUGLY" get used a lot in commenting on H-P pistols. The reduced recoil is another frequent comment. Weight and mass coupled with a good stout spring can sure do a lot to dampen the recoil impulse. Couple that with the grip angle and all of a sudden you realize the people who designed and built that comparatively inexpensive gun were pretty darn smart.

Concur. I see someone looking for another line of work where people won't know or recognize him. I can also visualize a lot of verbal insults too.

Its good to know you liked the holster well enough to purchase one for your wife and even better you appreciated her enough to do so! Very cool and its always important to pick up bonus points with the Mrs. for those inevitable moments when husbands fall from grace. :)

Sheriff's employees may have profited during ammo shortage
TNWNGR replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
I'd have to read the County and Rutherford County SO's policy and General Order's manuals to contemplate employee violations therein. The personal use of departmental e-mail and ordering ammunition for personal use is solely contestant upon how these policies are written. Now where this all gets interesting is did said information once purchased have tax stamps applied? Were sales taxes paid on follow on sales? Was income reported on Income Tax filings? Some officers are likely squirming in their seats now and may or may not have already been contacted by people you don't really want to meet when you skirt BATF & IRS matters. -
It's an interesting gun, don't know that I'll be buying one and in many ways a striker fired pistol's just that. Ergonomics, good trigger break, good sights, great reliability and a good price are big deciding factors. More so though is availability of holsters, spare magazines, aftermarket accessories and customer support. That's kind of help G-lock and M&P pistols in the forefront. So in case your wondering I'd like to see Walter step up and take a larger share of the market. I hope your pistol continues to please you and provide carefree service.

Those work for snakes too...

I don't know if the 2nd degree assault's a misdemeanor or felony but someone's in a whole heap of trouble. I'm thinking at this point he's been relived of his badge and gun and placed on either administrative or unpaid leave. I'm interested in seeing if it goes to trial or the officer takes a plea but I'd be very surprised to see him retaining his job. I wonder if the worm made him do it? :screwy:
