  1. Yep. He projected a good grandfatherly image personified but was actually amazingly liberal. FWIW for all of the medias pandering about ethical conduct and truthfulness they've seldom done so. Over time I've been amused at the backstories of instructional or self justification by media once caught in a lie. As to Brian Williams and his self delusions I suspect a mutually beneficial deal was agreed upon so that he gets his pre-agreed contract money and NBC doesn't pay more money in litigation. What's most telling he is the total lack of shame and only irritation at being caught out in the deceit.
  2. 56FG based on my recollection of jackrabbits they don't cook up as well as eastern cottontails and are as tough as old boot leather. But they do get to be pretty big.
  3. I've done my share of rabbit hunting and would many times rather hunt and eat rabbit then squirrel. Now domestically raised rabbit is a really good source of protean. They're also a lot less expensive to raise for your own table then beef or pork.
  4. No bet I'm in total agreement with you.   Sadly people don't want to be bothered with having to cope with truest of evil. If they can ignore it they will. If they have to call 911 they will and then watch from a distance. Otherwise they just want some faceless government to handle it even if at cost of personal freedoms.
  5. Hmm. Wonder if a group buy would be beneficial because I've become interested. There's a lot of utility in a small bolt action center fire rifle without significant recoil.
  6. No. But guns have a propensity for being utilized in crimes of violence involving black people with gun related violence against blacks only the merest fraction in comparison to black on black violence.
  7. Correct. Very open and accepting congregation with a very open minded pastor as well. IOW a cohesive group of Christians who would welcome a stranger in to worship or observe. I just wish someone their besides their murderer had been armed and put paid to this violent criminal.     BTW if none here have ever done so please make and effort to visit one of your communities African-American Churches. The little old ladies in white dresses are a true treasure and the sermons are spirited to say the least. Good times...
  8. I've got to say this has been an excellent thread on a topical subject and its also something we should always be very vigilant about. I fully suspect this is and underlying motivation for Fort Knox having originated it because as I recall from a local meet and greet he's a pretty decent fellow.    As to how to secure your gun and not leave it in a public rest room? Oh Shoot and Chucktshoes summed it up with dralarms covering sweep. Bottom line people do stupid stuff. Expect it. Just try not to be that guy yourself, but if you ever are always remember your not alone. I've had a pistol stolen from me but it wasn't left behind in a bathroom thank goodness.
  9. Caster...a gun free zone gives a murderer an uninhindered opputunity to commit the crime and get away or continue killing until they run out of ammunition or the police arrive. Just because someone is crazy enough to do something horrible like this doesn't mean they are stupid enough not to go after a high profile soft target. My thoughts are didn't anyone else realize this shooter was screwed up enough to be planning to kill other people the way he did? If so why didn't they call the police and if he was showing criminal tendencies or race hatered then why was he given a handgun?
  10. If you have a HCP and leave a gun in a public place which is recovered by the police you'll probably just end up being embarrassed and happy to have it back. If it was in a prohibited location where you could be charged then you might be charged. If someone is injured by your handgun then your going to have civil charges and possibly a reckless endangerment charge. If a police officer leaves their gun behind in a public or public acesesable bathroom they will at the very least end up with a career damaging written reprimand and remedial training, but more then likely they'll be suspended and have remedial training. I've known officers to be fired for leaving their gun behind in a bathroom, particularly if someone thinks that found gun should be there's because "finders keepers". So tell me who's going to come out of a stupid mistake like leaving a gun behind in a bathroom again? Oh yeah, the police officer can also face civil litigation should someone be injured by the gun they left behind. All in all I think not touching the gun and letting the police handle its the better choice. I've also never known a police officer who wouldn't be pissed off enough at another officers foolishness to let them get away without disciplinary action.
  11. Pretty disgusting and just plain evil as well.
  12. OO...oddly enough some of the nastiest looking 7.62x39 ammunition I've seen once wiped off and fired from a bolt action rifle produced good accuracy. But then the .223 is also an excellent round fired from a bolt action rifle as well, even with Russian ammo. One of the interesting things about shooting a .223 or 7.62x39 bolt action rifle is they'll work with sub-caliber adapters I.e 223 to 22 LR, 7.62x39 to 32 ACP. Both are surprisingly quite when fired in such a configuration BTW and very effective. Dang you graycrate now you've gone and got me interested in a project rifle....
  13. I'd be really surprised if it didn't shoot steel cases ammo.
  14. I'd secure the scene, make certain the police were contacted and let them recover the gun and make it safe. I wouldn't handle it at all to avoid smearing any prints or leaving my own on it. As to worry about a friend or coworker leaving it in a hospital or other banned location? That's not your problem. Your problem is following work policy and properly reporting the found gun. Wouldn't you do the same for a wallet or purse with I'd inside? A cell phone, I-Pad, laptop computer? It's somebody else's property, let them do the explaining.
  15. Soapy you need to take your story and put it into a magazine format because it needs to be published. You did good bud, real good!
  16. Remove the food source or bedding area which drew in the skunk and it'll move on to another location. The only time I've been annoyed with skunks is during their mating season because then they're every where.
  17. Generous of you...
  18. Oh there's consequences, at the least a written reprimand and a lot of remedial firearms training. With what the LASO Deputies are reported to have done you can count on suspension time and remedial training. With either of the above the officer's not going to be eligible for promotion for a year or more. The will at the least lose off duty color of law employment status while on suspension and could lose it for a year. Its a pretty serious business in accredited agencies and other officers I've know report active stupid stuff like that pretty quick.
  19. I'd almost forgotten that DF gun hater picture and thinking they should have put a Thompson SMG in her hands with that suit coat she was wearing. Can you imagine how many gangsters that'd bought her off would have laughed their axes (intentional spelling BTW) off at her?
  20. Yep, training learning curve, I remember very well the transitional training from DA/SA revolvers to pistols. It was an educational experience to say the least. You also have the right of it in placing the blame solely in the hands of the officer who tripped over the baby stroller, who is probably still being dogged about that stunt by his shift personnel.
  21. It's LASO not LAPD, two different agencies and both different as the night is day. The biggest issue here is institutional passing the buck by some of the parties involved. Instead of placing the blame squarely in the hands of the offending Deputies someone's attempted to blame it on the equipment. This happens from time to time in larger agencies and a liberal administration will attempt longer reaches. The firearms training is probably not the issue here, remedial training where necessary and a lot of shift level training on not being the next example is the issue.
  22. The latest makes of Python and SAA came out of the Colt Custom Shop, which in my humble opinion was the best thing Colt had going for itself. W/O doubt someone will buy them but who and what they'll do to an already decimated company is something to ponder. Colt could easily be made profitable by moving the manufacturing to a more firearms friendly state. Retooling with all new CNC, improved foundries and a non union shop will make profitability achievable. Reopening the Custom Shop in a new facility will bring them renewed credibility. Its my personal opinion the Police Positive and Detective Special could be reintroduced and be immediately popular if improved to take +p or +p+ 38 Special.
  23. OK I'm actively interested in this revolver and will be waiting to see one in a LGS. I've no doubt whatsoever it'll exceed the S&W M-25 in its capacity for warmish reloads. All in all it sure looks like there's some potential there.
