Regrettably once an individual becomes a public figure their greatest works and accomplishments are often overshadowed or marred by past behavior. The media or political sway of the day can gloss over or omit the bad for those they favor but highlight such focus on those they fear. LTC West as I believe I've mentioned is very human with feet of clay and under a microscope. I'm aware of much of his past but prefer to take my measure of how the man is now. Its not my place to judge him and from what I've read he took his lumps and is moving forward. Returning back to the OP LTC West very forthrightly pointed out the so called Confederate's Flag removal in S.C. changes nothing for the lot of black Americans. It served only a political and SJW purpose which is divorced from reality.

That's a good price and from what I've heard its a pretty decent pistol. The primary problems Taurus has been having is with its revolvers and its inexcusable. Taurus is a first rate company and someone needs to do some house cleaning and QC upgrades there to set things to rights.

Nice work. It doesn't look like the blued steel slide matted hard chrome frame two tones that were so popular in the past though. I'm not sure if its the lighting or surface finish of the cerakote though. I suspect if the grips were refinished of replaced that's bring more of the custom finish to attention.

Just concentrate on the holsters rigidity and stability in your pocket, if nothing else buy some kydex and make your own its pretty easy to do so.
-
Try it lightly fried or stir fried and you'll find out its really tasty. It's also good sliced up in soups and chowders. If you can find some freeze whole or large cut veggies you'll like those too.
-
Yep, that's one of your problems, either replace it with a good quality leather or kydex holster. Make sure either one has a stabilizing lower portion to keep it centered.

I'd get the shoulder repair surgery and downsize the rifle calibers to 22 center fires and a .243 for rifles. As to the handguns the simplest solutions are reduced power hand loads or learning to shoot with your weak hand. I'd also do a lot of my pistol shooting from a fixed rest to reduce fatigue.

Great rifle, once owned one from the same time period and regret letting it get away.

I'd contact Ruger first to see if they'd put a replacement spring in your LC9s frame mounted safety but also be looking for a better pocket holster. The LC9s Pro longer has the frame mounted safety. What your dealing with isn't an uncommon problem but the solutions require some study. A stronger safety spring equals a potentially difficult to release safety. The wrong holster either rolls and moves too much or is bulky, what are you using now?

I like them but after trying a set on a sample gun decided not to purchase a set, which has more to do with my eyes than the sights themselves. Other shooters have had issues with the Xs front sights not being the right set up for them either so if possible find someone who'll let you try a gun they have Xs sights installed on. My suspicion is you'll be just fine with this particular product.

Boiled okra seems to be a hit or miss meal selection and I've never been able to touch it. But if its sliced up and either fried or cooked in gumbo now that's a different story. Its also pretty good as a snack or salad topping if you can find it freeze dried. The same apples to pickled okra, asparagus etc. that's been rinsed prior to placing into salads. But the entire pickled vegetable topic is an entirely different dietary and basic health topic.

I always thought California was a great state to visit but never had any desire to live in and haven't changed my mind. All of the Deputies and Police Officers I met there were super. Those who learned I was a police supervisor and how I worked couldn't believe the lack of interference. Then when they found out there wasn't a state income tax and what property values were they were just plain sick. All of them were planning to move to Nevada, Arizona or in that area. I think I planted some TN re-homesteading seeds.

Your pistol's original finish was of a hot blued process and depending upon its service life it may have been parkerized which as you probably know is a phosphate finish. However somewhere along the way it received the plated finish you dislike, so in the end its your decision on how to resolve the matter. Your not going to enhance the pistols value or make it in any way more collectable but if it pleases you to have the gun hot blued then go for it. I suggest you google surrounding area gunsmiths and make a couple of road trips to look at their hot bluing. You'll most certainly find one whose work you like and for a lot less money than the $2,200.00 you were quoted.

Yep. It'll clean up a bit if lightly buffed but won't all go away. What you need to understand though is this adds character to the gun which is one of the more defining reasons to own such an older firearm. Remember we're talking about a 1911 that's almost 100 years old here!.

Yeah, if your going to go the whole boating thing a good, well maintained, used pontoon boats hard to beat. I agree with teecro's assessment of the 18' variant for most purposes and the fact its pretty easy to use as a fishing platform as well. Still and all I don't own one and likely won't every buy one but sure enjoy being out on one.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the finish of your pistol and I recommend you not do anything to that pistol other then shoot it occasionally and keep it clean. However if the darkened spots on the finish concern you a very (emphasis very) light buffing will improve that. IOW the gun's worth more as is then if you have it refinished again. At this stage of the game I'd be more interested in discovering the guns historical background then returning it to a blued status.

My entire take on LTC West's speeches, public presentations and FB commenting is he's trying to represent himself as a positive role model by means of media attention. He's intelligent and highly motivated and a potential threat to the extreme leftist government and SJW elitist academic leaders and media. However with all of that he's entirely mortal with all of the faults and flaws of the rest of us and very much in a fish bowl. I don't place him in the same category of race baiters such as Jackson or Sharpton but for all of his positive attributes there are the parallels of use of notoriety for objective gain. Links2k exposes a jaded and suspicious view point that might rankle but that's alright in my opinion because I'm of a suspicious nature. Personally I have a high regard for LTC West's service, ability to debate and his articulation.

The attributed AW comments in line with his other speeches and presentations as well as being profoundly sarcastic. No, S.C.'s decision to take down the "Rebel Flag" isn't going to solve any of the black communities problems. It was also w/o doubt an act driven more by cooperate motivations than respect for racial feelings. I suspect LTC West's sole point on the flags coming down is that's the only thing that happened. All the other ballyhoo about improved race relations and such is wishful thinking because that serves no political agenda.

I've seen nickeled and chrome plated gun's that were buffed out and hot blued turn out really well but it takes a really experienced buffer to get it right. Have you considered an industrial hard black chrome finish instead of the hot blue?

R/V's generally carry their propane tanks on the trailers tongue or an under carriage storage locker and those I've studied were grounded. Point A to Point B short transports for purposes of cylinder exchange are limited duration risks. Moving a propane tank in the back of a rental moving truck is a bad ideal and I recommend against it. Turn it in, get your tank refund back and pick up another tank when you get moved in. Think along these lines: If the tank lights off and no ones injured or killed you'll still lose everything in the truck. You might also be held liable for damages by having the propane tank in the moving truck to begin with.
-
Congrats on the boat and FWIW and dependent upon your pontoon boats size I'd reconsider the decision to not purchase a trailer. I've yet to see a pontoon boat being kept at a marina that wasn't periodically pulled out for relocation, inspection or repair.

What the FBI Director's doing with his statement is called "damage control" whereby you get on the front end of potentially embarrassing or really bad information that you know will be made public. There's little doubt the AG, DOJ and all of its minions are going to run with this tidbit in proposed future budget requests. The POTUS and Legislature are really going to push this one hard to so the games afoot as the story goes.

Yeah. If I get interested in a topic I keep digging until I find out enough to satisfy my curiosity.
