  1. Its pretty much your run of the mill firearms and tactics gun forum with break down forums for individual gun types. If you haven't been there then you haven't missed anything. Its got its share of operators and posers with the bulk of the members being a cross section of the gun owners and shooters spectrum.
  2. I'd be curious to know where the round he touched off into the overhead ceiling ended up at. Other then that I'll only say that overconfidence and compliancy have bitten more then one shooter or for that matter firearms instructor in the rear...
  3. Does the Glock 42 uses a heavier recoil spring assembly to compensate for its slide mass? I realize that its a locked breach design but its RSA has to be strong enough to do a number of things during the firing cycle. That makes for a pretty stout hand cycling or chambering sequence.
  4. Nice. But most of the better quadcopters fly at 200 to 500 feet and one European fellow took one up to 11,000 feet and posted a video. He'd completely bypassed a software black preventing the quadcopter from flying that high. You probably won't find the video because he pulled it. So obviously something specifically designed to shoot down weaponized commercial UAV's is long overdue.
  5. I'd hope that someone could come up with a more affordable anti drone system then a $38,000.00 Stinger Missile. They might be more cost effective then a Patriot Missile but given the proliferation of commercial drones and their being weaponized somethings needed.
  6. Yep....way overpriced bilge water but every employee I've interacted with at the few I've gone into were the kind of customer service type of employee you were pleased with.
  7. Ah well, nothing unexpected, I wonder whether he's still got the dolled up "hot wife & step daughter" parading about for media attention. I'm curious as to how far his step daughter progressed in her media or acting career and if his step son became the master engraver we were led to believe he wanted to become.
  8. Elton say's get over it....;-)
  9. I'm generally ok on most Wilson Combat products and overall have admired their 1911 pistols. Now with that aside I'll just say this X9 looks freakish and is profoundly more expensive then I'd ever consider paying. So for anyone who want's one good for you...but I'm not even interested in handling one.
  10. LMAO...good for you GT!!! I've met two Russians that I'm aware of, one was a naturalized US Citizen the other was most likely a resident alien having traveled to the US to marry a US Citizen. Both of them were decidedly foreign in far more ways then I could describe. I've met Germans, Poles, Japanese and other foreign nationals with whom I 've found more commonality.
  11. That really too bad because of late the only good thing about Colt in general was the Colt Custom Shop and the quality of work they produced.
  12. There's plenty of that in Chapter 2 as well.
  13. I watched the latest John Wick movie the other night very obviously titled John Wick Chapter 2 and it wasn't to bad. I thought the first one was a better movie and there will unquestionably be a third one in the not to distant future. Has anyone else here watched it yet?
  14. Nice revolvers you've got there. I've got like models of two of them from the same eras.
  15. Inserting the original unaltered coins in the grips looks good, it's something that you used to see from time to time in rifle stocks.
  16. I inherited a M-53 from my father in near the same condition with the S&W target grips and an S.D. Myers floral engraved holster. Its a loud fire breathing .22 center fire cartridge and expensive as well, have you sent yours back to S&W to be fitted with a .22 LR cylinder or do you use the cartridge adapter inserts?
  17. Tempting, but I've spent to much money on blacksmithing tools and supplies to be doing any firearms acquisition for a while.
  18. Concur. Glock makes a specific G-17/22 sized primer fired pistol for firearms training that's well worth the money spent. If the departmental budgets too tight then airsoft copy cat plastic pellet firing pistols are totally suitable with the same protective gear you'd use with the above mentioned Glock pistol. I'm going to hazard a guess that more then the two already mentioned sworn officers are going to lose their careers over this one.
  19. I'm passing the information on to a guy with the certs and training looking to relocate to here from Michigan.
  20. Or chronic open mouth insert foot-itus at the least.
  21. @runco I won't dispute your post at all and largely agree with it but I should probably also remind you that an entire stores employee moral and in turn their interactions with customers key off of a good managers leadership and personality style. Yes a good management team and make any store better then its competitors in a given location. @2.ooohhh your right as well and yours is a topic often discussed in a lot of circles.
  22. I've not done any business with Home Depot in quite a few years but went to one in town today looking for a battery powered leaf blower since they had several models on sale. I'd gone to one of the Lowes stores yesterday and been disappointed at the lack of selection and no one offering to help me. Today what I later learned was one of the store managers noticed me trying to find a product in the lawn equipment section and asked me if I needed help finding a product. When I told him what I was looking for he took me straight to them, discussed product selection to me an noticed a better sale item on a better product then I was looking for and pointed it out to me. I was impressed that someone knew how to do their job. Then when he found out I was looking for a small gas grill he told me he had just what I needed and took me to a grill they weren't going to carry this season that had already been marked down to $149.00 and offered to let me have it for $100.00 if I wanted it. Then he and another employee loaded the grill and leaf blower into the back of my truck while I placed items in the cab. Needless to say I appreciated it and asked if he was a manager and confirmed I'd guessed correctly. I remember when customer service was awful at that store so I'm glad to see it doing better. I also remember when customer service was better at Lowes and hope to see it improve.
  23. FWIW I've never owned a sight pusher tool and have swapped out sights by placing wood blocks in a bench vise and then using either a brass punch or hardwood dowel rod to drive out and reinstall a dovetailed front or rear sight. It's really that easy if you mark the windage location of the sight being removed. I'd love to take credit for learning this but an I watched an older gunsmith doing this a lot in his shop. When I asked him why he didn't buy a sight pushing tool he asked me why he needed it if he had a vise, proper punches and was careful. But if you really want a proper DIY sight pushing tool for cheap... Or...
  24. My guess is it's going to be the wrong trigger rebound screw based upon your good decent double action comment on an out of the box S&W J frame. But regardless yes, I've seen crappy NIB S&W revolvers before and yes S&W can and well correct the problem.
  25. I'd recommend building a vacuum mold and making component panels instead as you'll have a sturdier body. But FWIW I've seen guys take sheet metal, formers an English Wheel and hammers and turn out body parts to weld together.
