  1. I kept a gunsafe in my first house's garage for years w/o any problems, The goldenrod in the safe kept everythin rust free. But my garage door didn't face the roadway either. There are things you can do to make the gunsafe less visable such as workbences and cabinets in front of it obstructing the view. I also stacked plastic storage boxes on top of the safe and had a large picture leaning on the safe. It detracted attention. But the biggest thing is don't bring all the neighbors over to show off the safe, or your newest guns because people talk and word spreads.
  2. Yep Company policy. Some outdoor or outdoor equipment stores that have a firearms dept. will have someone walk you outside with a new gun purchase. The clerk carries the gun out the door, then gives it to you so you can leave with it. Some clerks think that's the law, some just use that excuse to placate you. Bottom line they don't want a public debate or question and answer session about it.
  3. Am not disputing anything you say Dave and fully agree it's not Crisco, but the spectrograph makes a good case its a GMO rapeseed derivative. I don't see it as bad but do see the mystic being shattered. I used solid Crisco several times in BP handguns and rifles and thought it worked great. The only negative I see on any vegetable oil based product used on or in firearms as a cleaner or preservative is it will become gummy. I think its a product that's going to go through some public embarrassment and face some fresh competition.
  4. Plan on setting it up for AK mags? I frequently shake my head at not buying several of the Chicom and Russian SKS's when they were so inexpensive. I'd love to set one up in the bullpup stock that's now avalable.
  5. Cool!!!
  6. Cross bolt-safety rifles, yes, they're available. Pre-cross-bolt safeties...well, yeah you can find them but you've got to the first one to notice when ones available.
  7. Somewhat of a modern Weldon pistol which doesn't have to be maunually cycled I guess. The good is it's in a configuration that'll work ok in a holster w/o a suppressor hanging out the bottom. The bad is it's suppressor is proprietary to that single platform which limits versatility for private owners. I guess my point is if I have a licensed suppressor I'd like to be able to use it on multiple, same caliber platforms.
  8.   I'm guessing you and the others here have used the hydrogenated oil "solid" version of Crisco in black powder handguns or to lube patches in black powder rifles or shotguns? If so then you know in addition to preventing flame leap across charged cylinders it leaves behind an easily cleaned mess. The guns clean up better than with tallow. I'd be real surprised if someone at the company in question here didn't already know about that little tidbit.
  9.   I'd spent years looking for one in .44 Mag when I stumbled into one in .357 Mag, I'm still looking for one in .44 Mag. What irks me is I remember when these were all over the place and not being interested until after Marlin went with the cross bolt safety.
  10. What??? Dang, that's suprising, I'd have thought the .44 Mag pre crossbolt safety to be more valuable then the .357 Mag.
  11. Well I suspect the XD Mod. 2 .45 will be a more comfortable pistol to shoot then the XDs .45 was and it should do pretty good as a carry gun.
  12. Yeah, I read about that yesterday. That it's canola oil, which of course is a GMO modification of rapeseed, looks pretty obvious. It being Crisco though, well I suspect a bulk purchase from the same source Crisco uses which would be even cheaper.
  13.   That pretty much sums it up and I don't think I could have said it better. It's mostly a matter of perspective in a lot of instances where peoples feelings interfere with interpretation of facts so bylaws are  useful interface.
  14.   Yes, your correct a PVC bow or crossbow can be powerful, you just have to choose the correct diameter for the application. You can make them stout or far less powerful. Even better you can tip a shaft with a round ball to reduce throw distance or possible impalement.
  15. Use PVC pipe for the crossbow, it's effective and inexpensive.
  16. Had a thought about something I'd read about once so did some google-Fu... http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/361904/speer-plastic-bullets-45-caliber-451-to-452-diameter-box-of-50   Your thoughts on the all lead 165 gr cast bullet are good, that should work well.

    Keltec PF9

Had one some years back and carried it as an off duty and back up gun. While it worked reliably the small trigger guard was brutal on my trigger finger during recoil. I seriously considered reworking the front of the trigger guard but instead gave it to the wife who had smaller hands. I then purchased a Ruger LC9 which for all intent and purposes is a more refined  take off of the PF9. It I liked even less. So the bottom line is maybe it'll be a good fit for you, maybe it won't only you can tell that story.
  18. Having purchased and used sub-caliber chamber inserts in the past I thought surely someone had such for a 9mmP or 45 ACP...nope, no such luck. If I were downloading a caliber for training purposes and reduced recoil in a derringer and couldn't select a .38 Special I believe the 45ACP you bought will prove more versatile. Here's a suggestion and I plan on trying it myself soon. Chuck an empty .45ACP case into a lathe or drill press. Open up the primer pocket just enough to seat a 209 primer in the primer cup. Take prepared case and insert a wax bullet. Given I'm already looking for a SAA clone to do same with what the hay?
  19. ROFLMAO
  20.   Yep...that's be a winning bet...
  21. Well the libertards think this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ-bhM-xuec   But the reality is agitators and persons intent upon destabilizing and destroying everything that's not given them for free is what's happening with this invasion...and it is an invasion.
  22.   IIRC it comes in 9mmP too which of course is still going to pretty close to lighting off what'll probably feel like a .357 Magnum. For a last ditch BUG a couple of .45 ACP rounds at contact range would be devastating to the recipient. Given the shooter's going to have so much adrenaline pumping through them they probably wouldn't register on the harsh recoil.
  23. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/why-germany-just-shut-its-borders-to-refugees/ar-AAeg7jN?ocid=spartandhp   Guilt based acceptance of people you cannot feasibly host long term or keep out of mischief sometimes requires a wake up call...
  24. Well the FO sights a plus but how well does that porting work and who did it. FWIW I've shot Winchester and Marlin 30-30 rifles with the Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum having enough recoil to suprise you.
  25.   I agree. Of all of the Glock's I've owned or was issued since around 1990 an issued 4th gen G-27 had the very best Glock trigger I'd encountered. Since then I've handled a number of fairly recent 4th gen G-19's and loved them. There's thing's I really like about the M&P and dislike about the Glock but overall time investment and experience centers around the Glock.
