Well as those of you in the Apple I-Phone world know today was the release date of the newest I-Phone convienently called the I-Phone 6s. It has an improved case and some intregal tweaks but beyond that it becomes geek speech.Anyhow the point of the post was to see if there's a general interest in the new phone or more of a same old same old.

David Berkowtiz certainly thought highly of the original Charter Arms Bulldog... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Berkowitz

I'm aware of some of the reports concerning the RIA wheel guns...differing lots number of firearms from others sometimes have like problems. Charter does make a good revolver, they always have, they just don't generally have the service life of a S&W, Ruger or Colt. I had an early model Undercover that my nephew made off with *grin* that has never given any problems. Taurus has a lot of firearms experience and grown into a global arms company so quickly they can't produce enough volume. Couple that with a host of new and newer models and QC suffers. I've seen a lot, repeat lot of their 38 special revolvers have issues out of the box. But I've seen far more that were problem free, so it comes to buying one and knowing it'll probably be ok but while being secretly worried. I would love to do QC work with Taurus because I like their ability to embrace risk.

I like the RI/Armscor revolvers they are in many ways patterned off of a cross between the Colt Police Positive and New Service revolvers. Insofar as fit and finish the come across as a little rough but lock up, end shake and timing are good. Yes they are a bit larger than a Charter Arms Undercover or Taurus five shot but they are also. All steel, six rounds and have visible i.e., usable fixed sights.

This will make Bloomberg have a stroke for sure!

I recognize your explaining how you handled a situation on your own property where you were armed with an AR-15 and slung it muzzle down across your back when you observed the police arrive. Firstly I'm glad no one was injured. Secondly you have drawn as large a target across yourself as possible and cannot see what you've done. My first advice is remove the cache from your yard soonest. My second is to never, I repeat never go outside of your house armed to confront or investigate an intruder, particularly if your spouse is calling the police to report same. Had one of those kids been shot by the police it would have cost you everything you own. Had the police shot you once they noticed you moving with a rifle they would have been absolved. I personally think geo caching is a good thing but young people and newcomers who are bored don't pay attention to the time of night. You are far luckier in what happened in this incident then you realize. Take the good with the bad and hopefully learn something yourself here.

I owned a lot of S&W M-39's over the years as well as the 59 and 469. It's a surprisingly compact gun and was at its very best with the 3913 and the DAO variant of the same. If properly broken in they have an excellent DA/SA transition while shooting. If you take a close look at the Walter P-38, PP, PPK you'll see where S&W came up with their design. That same design is actively produced by Taurus, Beretta and others.

If I had the financial means and backing as well as the right location in the right portion of the Southeaster United States I'd do it. All Colt needs to be successful again is return to its core products. Colt used to make some fantastic revolvers with the New Service and Police Positive. With a modern CNC manufacturing facility they could become successful again.

Having read through the listed likes and dislikes of your very discerning wife, who I complement by the way, I'll step aside from any striker fired pistol recommendations. If S&W still made the 3913 that would be an ideal gun for her, particularly the Ladysmith version of it. Used ones are of course available. But for something new, reliable, accurate and available which also meets all of her selection criteria I believe a PX4 Storm Sub-Compact in 9mmP will be more than pleasing to her... http://www.beretta.com/en-us/px4-storm-subcompact/

Good! I'm hoping to be there if nothing interferes

My daily carry "pistol", AKPDW V2.0
TNWNGR replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Overall I'm impressed with the PDW you've put together but your MPA 9mm comment intrigued me so I researched it. Yeah I can see the interest in that but how is it a significant improvment on a Glock 17L or 34 with a Glock a couple of spare Glock 18 magazines? If its the ability to set up a Shockwave or SIG limb brace then I can see that. BTW I'm not criticizing your ideal just pondering it as much for myself as anything else. -
Getting broken cleaning rod tip out of black powder barrel
TNWNGR replied to Sam1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Here's another option using a grease gun... http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=20234 There also used to be an adapter which used a Co2 cartridge to clear a black power barrel. -
Nice rifle and I enjoyed reading about that particular cartridge, I look forward to further postings on how everything does.

Good of you to introduce yourself.

Exactly correct, the Glock trigger and grip frame angle are unlike any other pistol(s) I've handled or fired and I've shot numerous striker fired pistols. I've seen people who've never shot a pistol before receive instruction on a Glock and take to it like a duck to water. I've also seen people who have extensive experience with 1911 & BHP platform pistols have fits shooting a Glock. Bottom line you've got to learn how to shoot a Glock because it take a totally different technique.

The oversized muzzle brakes made from titanium...expensive raw material, more expensive machine work at that time and problematic at best. The charging handle was changed to the one used in the AR-15/M-16 for commonality of parts...ergo...easier to parts source and less expensive due to mass production. Additionally the AR-10 of that era never achieved wide acceptance...

That's actually doable and unlikely to attract notice is you go the extra step of turning it into an "obvious" storage closet or pantry.

Man you live a life of simple adventures that become all consuming adventures of interesting preportions and almost on a beer budjet to boot!!!

Fireclean users, you have been duped

Oh I'm absolutely clear on who started this rodeo and that mudslinging's going on with all involved. It's amusing and reminds me of all the fuss when the synthetic oil gun lubes were allegedly linked back to Mobile 1. -
You'd be surprised at how accurate the .25ACP can be. I had a Beretta 950 that was scary accurate from a rest. Actually .25 Caliber rifles are also quite accurate as well.
-
You'll enjoy it immensly. I had a much later Bauer Stainless Steel ieteration of it I didn't have the good sense to keep. With your particular gun its important to remember it built more on the lines of a Swiss watch. IOW it's tough but have a care with its springs...

I've nothing but good things to say about the LCP or P3AT as both are excellent products for the money spent. They both also have the degree of relibility and minute of bad guy accurcy I want. If your leaning towards the NAA Guardian then I suggest a look at the Seecamp .380. The Kahr 380 nightrunner mentioned is probably more obtainable though then a Seecamp 380.

Good to know you came up with an acceptable cast bullet & handloaded ammunition compromise for your wife's pocket rocket. I'm going to keep it in mind because I like this patricular derringer set up. I wouldn't want it for my primary carry gun but as a last ditch BUG I think it'll do just fine.
