Thanks for all of the good informational posts fellows, its all been helpful. I'd already decided to go with the extract kits for a while and will be using a similar initial set up to the one discussed by Comms N Bombs. Its a very affordable under a hundred dollar starting point which can easily be expanded. The reference books I ordered should be in today and the books I've read are safely returned to the public libarary. Now all I need to do is lay in a supply of cappable bottles for later on down the pike.

Save Monkeyman ... Or not ... (Classic Car Advice)
TNWNGR replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
Older vehicles in time become a bit of a money pit and the point where a full restoration is inevitable. It all depends on how they're stored and operated to a degree but even when lightly used age catches up to them. The deal break for me is when the vehicle either becomes less then reliable or OEM parts are hard to find. WWID? Sell it and if I didn't have another AWD or 4x4 buy something newer. -
OK I've researched home beer making and visted a brew pubs set up. Additionally I've seen and assisted a bit with a family members Mr. Beer set up and viewed a glass carboy brewing set up. The one gallon micro brew set ups are affordable but small for the effort extended. I'm interested in what folks here have done or are doing with beer making as a small time hobby. FWIW I'm not going with the Mr. Beer set up or a one gallon set up, but something close to both.

I'm on Charter Cabel for my internet and went with a Roku 3 player, Netflix and Amazon Prime since AP had a one day special at $77.99. In hindsight theres duplication of programing between Netflix & AP but other tradeoffs still made it a decent deal. I'm currently using a "stick in the window" TV antenna that's brining in the Nashville TV stations fairly well. Overall its an across the board pretty simple set up and btq96r is 100& correct about the Roku being an easy to use system.

BT is a bit of a character isn't he? As to impact weapons I'd stick with a Kubotan for the most part. I carried and used side handle batons and expandable batons for years, was even instructor certified for a time.

I've always like the Bond Arms Derringers even though they're a bit larger then some others because they are so well built. But the cost coupled with deciding on the right caliber always kept me on the fence. Now that you have the basic gun itself you can purchase different caliber barrels. The 45 Colt most assuredly does let you know you've fired it, so does a .410 slug round but that's a lot of lead going down range.

If you had no intention to keep and shoot the DW revolver you discussed here then turning down the trade was a probably a good decision.

He's a great guy isn't he?

Yeah....good ideal, especially after recalling you had some issues with your gas tube...makes me wonder...

Yeah, gemtech is one of those either runs like a champ or the gun you brought to the party hates it with a passion. That's not bad mouthing the product just one of the realities of life and feeding an SAR.

Bubba, What did I do to incur your wrath?
TNWNGR replied to Pete123's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'd remove the stock and forearm of the Marlin and take a closer look before deciding on a course of action. Overall the eposxy removal is going to be the largest PITA. The stock cracks aren't to bigh of a deal to fix but it looks like that stock has oil saturation damage. If it were my gun I'd probably strip the stock, gind out the epoxy, find some good donor scraps and have a go at it. -
Actually it's more a matter of S&W M-59 magazines working perfectly in the KT P11 then the reverse. Think of the P11 magazines as aftermarket magazines which must first be field tested in your own pistol in order to be trusted. As to which of the two pistols the OP inquired about I'd lean more towards the Argentine HP, but if a good 5906 came available would choose it hands down.

IWB holster with zero (or adjustable to zero) cant?
TNWNGR replied to Steelharp's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Concur completely, tried it with an OWB & IWB & didn't like the feel at all. Part of that may have been due to past training and muscle memory, but it was a completely different draw stroke. It also made a weak hand to strong side holster draw unfeasible. That said neutral cant holsters wouldn't be around if other people didn't like them. -
I'd stay at the Paris Landing State Parks Lodge, they have an excellent buffet and plenty of room.

Aggravated Assault case where some basic untruthfulness by the defendant faired poorly and the weapon had been modified. Other experience in supervised officers involved in LF shootings. IOW I've investigated, testified, witnessed and been subject of investigation.

I encourage you to do so as you see fit but I've testified on the witness stand and was even once deemed an expert witness. One of the benefits of that experience was to never provide an instrument of challenge to a prosecuting or defense attorney or legal support team. Respectfully if you haven't been involved in a use of physical force or lethal force investigation or trial your perceptions are limited. I respect Mas Ayoob in many respects but am annoyed by him in others.

My first recommendations always going to go towards a forum members work... But another Tennessee blade smith I'm aware of is Kim Breed who IIRC is still located in Montgomery County. He does Damascus knife work, and has used braided steel cables to forge those same blades and hardware. He's retired military and by all accounts a bit of a character in some respects. http://olegvolk.net/blog/2012/11/08/kim-breed-custom-knives-sharp-jewelry/ FWIW this isn't an endorsement or recommendation merely providing information.

Yep. BTDT with an LA gangbanger who thought he knew more about disarming police officers then some officer in Tennessee. I was wearing a Bianchi Hurricane Level II holster at the time and also carrying a revolver. I had to do weapons retention and fight with one hand while he used two hands at the holster and grip. So no, I won't remove a magazine disconnect or any other integral safety device. I'm also very leery of a lot of the trigger kits and such which proliferate the polymer pistol field now from a litigious standpoint.

You're in a theater and then this happens. What would you do?
TNWNGR replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
Not all of those emergency escape doors are alarmed and once opened a key is required to re-lock them. Bottom line, go to the lobby and advise the managment. Sometimes people prop open those doors to let others sneak in, sometimes they go outside to smoke, it all has the potential to be a bad thing. -
The dynamics of a lethal force encounter and reactivness of an assaliant who's been shot, stabbed or severely beaten is unpredictable. Everyone is wired a little different then the next person and medical conditions, mental illness, intoxication, hallucinogenics or other drugs do strange things. Me? I'll follow my training and try and keep my head in the game.

I remember when Colt brought that model out and was disapointed when it didn't really take off in sales. The original Colt PP was an increadibly popular firearm and very compact for its 4" and 6" barrel(s). IIRC it also had a 5" barrel but I can't recall reading how many of those saw the light of day. The Colt pictured is far different internally and externally to the original PP which modernized it but also gave it a heavy DA/SA trigger pull. The OP made a smart purchase of what's destined to be a very collectable firearm.

I'm a dinosaur too but I finally pulled the plug, picked up a ROKU box and went with a Netflix account. I also went with an Amazon Prime account as they had a one day special where they lowered its price to 77.99. Those with a TV antenna and I have all the TV I want, if you want sports and a few more channels add Sling TV. I don't plan on adding Sling TV though. Overall all of this is, to include the ROKU 3 purchase is about 1/3 the cost of an average cable TV programming package.

Yeah. The 9c and 45c M&P's I borrowed and ran some rounds through both had suprisingly good triggers. Enough so I wouldn;t have considered changing anything on them if they'd been my own guns.
