  1. I liked the ones I shot a few years back but much more prefered the Ruger Single-Six and New Model Bearcat. Additionaly I've seen a number of older ones at a couple of friends gunsmith shops for repair. Said repairs were generally due to a broken spring although several of them were disambled in shoeboxes. Pretty much the normal take it apart to clean it or take it apart to "fix-it" thing that puts food on the gunsmiths table.
  2. I agree that basic first aid training should be a part of the schooling of children as soon as they are old enough to undergo such training. Idealy it should be outside of the classroom but that's not happening so it needs to become a part of school criculam. Basic First Aid, below the level of First Responder training is a small time investment.
  3.   Appearance and reliability wise I like the 870 Wingmaster best. Reliability wise I like the 590. Price wise and with a little reliability tweaking I like the 500. I would not recommend any pistol griped SG for home or personal defense, instead I'd go with a shorter stock. As to the Ithaca Model 37, I owned and ran several of them over the years. Looks wise I loved them. Speed of operation and overall light weight was great. I just decided I preferred the 870 platform and after some tactical SG courses trusted the 590 too.
  4. You got it!
  5. Good luck to you! I've used Youtube and Dillon;s customer service with my 550B and not felt the need for a 650 yet. There is a DIY Case feeder etc for it as well which if I'm reading correctly is what your wanting to do. I hope you have a successful conclusion and post an after action report. Here's a link on a diy set you may or may not have already viewed.   http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=503645
  6. Memphis and Chatonooga are my favorite TN cities to visit.
  7. Dolomite posted a thread talking about this holster but at this point Pete123 is the only one I know of whose purchased one of these holsters. I'm cautiously curious but would have to see one in person before considering a purchase.
  8.   My thoughts on the matter too...ieither are really decent guns that are very reliable as well as being affordable.
  9.   You've probably long since filed the documentation pertaining to the nerve damage that resulted from that freakish gunshot wound. It should have been included in any disability payments you are receiving but if it isn't you should have that matter addressed.
  10. I have no love for the Beretta 92 system or Glock platform but both or deritives of their platforms dominate the defensive pistol world. I want to have the knowhow and skillsets to pick up any firearm I'm likely to come across and use it competently if the need arrises. So, I purchase a representative sample and train extensivly with it. I also try to intentiaonally make the weapon fail so I can learn to either prevent the failure or rapidly resolve it. I used to have access to class 3 weapons at a gunshop I worked in and did this with several weapons platforms. What I've learned is I might hate a particular handgun, rifle or shotgun but I know how to use the tool.
  11. Price a Colt 1911 or one of the better known big name 1911's and you'll find $700.00 is a lot less than you think it is. For that matter there are a lot of other pistols that are in the above seven Benjamin's price range
  12. I can promise you that's not going to produce a Colt Lightning as a progeny.
  13. Look's like a pretty good take-off of an Old Faithful Holster's set up. They used to sell the unassembled kit at a steal of a price BTW but when last I checked no longer do so.
  14. I'm pretty much in agreement that you've got some build up in the bore, soak it, use a good bore brush and check it again. As to the WD-40 Corrosion Specialist product Dolomite mentions I haven't tried it out yet. I have however, had excellent results with a good heavy paste car wax finish on the degreased metal surfaces of several firearms. It even works on parkerized finish surfaces as it effectively fills in the textured surface and crevices of the treated metal.
  15. Yeah. I've see quite a few of them in West TN but not as many in Middle TN. I've seen dead ones in the Montgomery County area and live ones in the Stewart County Henry County area.
  16. I believe I'd pick up some eye bolts, steel cabel and turnbuckles and use enough torsonal pressure to straighten it up.
  17. The video's good and your premises are worthy of discussion but they are emotionally charged and will inevitably trigger some strong opinions that go to far here or in any other forum or social media setting.
  18. If it has Made in Tennessee stamped on the frame I'll add it to the "To Buy" list otherwise probably not. But FWIW I do consider it a solid upgrade to the 92FS I have stashed away in the gun safe. I'm not letting it get away either, it might be big and clunky but it goes bang every time I want it to and is more accurate than I'm capable of proving with it.
  19.   If we take what the OP said into consideration the frame modifications on his G-23 make the prospects of a favorable trade on a G-19 unlikely. He's interested in the 9mm and has correctly figured his most cost effective approach to this matter is a drop in 9mm barrel. I think its a good ideal and would personally go with the LW barrel and just shoot the darned thing. The guns already been modified so an after market barrel of a different caliber's not going to make much of a difference.

    Micro Draco

I've got to admit I wasn't interested in a mini-Draco until I viewed what you did to the one you have Dolomite. I'm more then just a little bit tempted to try building a similar set up for my GMABH bag.
  21. The 568 is a good lower mid- range priced holster and it gets the job done w/o a lot of fuss or bother. Over the years I've carried a lot of Safariland gear  and will tell you I now  prefer all leather or all kydex holster.
  22.   I don't know if your partaking in humor or genuinely disagree with the judges decision Dave but I've seen more than one open and shut dead to rights guilty case be tossed by a judge.
  23. An equally good improvised weapon of sorts unlikely to be noticed is a thuggie scarf. It can be utilized as a distraction device, to block or trap opponents blows, a strangling device or striking weapon. Its dirt simple to make, a large bandanna, silver dollars or large metal washers and tied knot(s) in a corner or corners. If you don't believe this item can be brutally painful then you never got popped by a wet towel.
  24. Actually one of those all wood canes you generally see in a bix box or barrel for sale at rural King or TSC is a near perfect impact weapon and defensive weapon. They are heavy enough to be used to block, strike or take a person down all while looking rather inoculus to run of the mill folks. All one needs is a non skid end cap or a metal baseplate. I had one that 's long since walked away with someone else so I need to pick up a couple of replacements for myself. Additionally a solidly made umbrella is an equally effective multi use weapon.    One of the things I looked for or kept close at hand in no weapons areas were a nice thick newspaper or magazine as either will roll into a very nice impact weapon. Just think outside of the box...there's all kinds of improvised trade craft tricks.
  25. Thanks for the offer, I splurged and bought a case of long necks after looking at the cost and shipping of bottles I realized I'd be better off recycling my own bottles. Or even better scrounging them!
