  1. Ouch! That's a pretty strightforward surgery that will lay you up for about a month, just like the doctor advised you. I have a BIL who went through the same surgery a year or two ago. He had multiple hernias and was pretty uncomfortable until he'd healed up afterwards. Do what the doctor tells you and heal up w/o complications.
  2. Thats John McIntire and Robert Fuller from the Wagon Train TV series.

I'm kind of so-so on the entire derringers thing thinking them more of a supplemental weapon then a primary weapon. Then there's the caliber thing with 38 Special being a good balance but then someone does one in .45 ACP. I do wonder at the logic behind a single shot .223 or 7.62x39 rifle cartridge in a single shot derringer.   As for the $700.00 price on the PKD45 I have to agree that's not to terrible if its actually a good reliable pistol. I guess if it actually hits the market and is successful I'll be interested in trying one out to see how that low bore axis handles in recoil.
  4. Have you looked at propane powered referigators and freezers? Those or a combo refrigator/freezer along with a propane pwered generator and large propane tank will keep you going for several weeks. Using the seperate solar for lighting is a good ideal but a battery bank with seperate wiring set ups will work with the generator too. You can power a TV, washer, computer, fans and recharge tools.

It does have a certain look doesn't it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semmerling_LM4   The Semmerling LM4 has/had the same magazine capacity and was lighter but it was also manually activated. Size and caliber are interesting. At this point I'd say I'm more curious about the pistol then interested in it.

I'm not sure whether this is of interest or not or for that matter whether it's already been posted but it sure looks like a small all metal .45ACP pistol.   http://www.downrange.tv/blog/heizer-defense-introduces-the-pko-45/36977/   https://heizerdefense.com/2015/12/26/the-pko45/
  8.   Will it have the same serial number or will you have to go through another FFL? But its sure nice to hear that Century is going to do right by you. That's very impressive, thanks for mentioning it.
  9. Invite her to dinner with your family and share your table and fellowship with her. Keep everythin low key and don't fuss over her. I bet she'd like that more then anything you could ever say, do for her or give her.
  10.   Sums up my own opinion of him as well.
  11. All I can do is shake my head and say yeah, I've met people who'd do the same thing. They get so caught up in trying to figure out why somethings not working they forget they're handleing a firearm, powertool etc.
  12. http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/sight-parts/replacement-sight-inserts/fiber-optic-replacement-rods-prod38863.aspx   Midway also has them and you can find them on e-bay and Amazon. I'm surprised an extra FO sight wasn't included with your pistols  packing box.
  13. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/04/11/devil-dog-arms-stolen-valor/   Says all employees let go and company shut down...
  14.   Yeah...got to agree on that...doesn't matter how big a phony he is posting his phone number is an open invitation...
  15.           Yep. Particularly small businesses that try to beat a customer out of their money on a bad deal. They believe that laying a paper trail alleging threats, harassment or disruption of business will make it look like the customers fault. I'm hoping you have someone on tape or an e-mail from the gun shop saying they won't refund your money. FWIW if you do I strongly urge you to immediately file a stop payment and have your attorney contact the gun store and Century. If your really lucky Century will make the gun store eat the loss due to customer service.
  16.       I can't remember where you said you were going to college at but if they have a mechanical technology department go by and talk with a professor or a likely looking student. Ask them if they know a good shop. If there's a local Jr. College go by and talk with them. Show pictures, ask if either they'll do it as a parts supplied project or recommend a good shop. High school auto shop classes used to do this all the time, I don't know about now.
  17.   That sucks, but really isn't a shock given the discussion and concern expressed here. For as much as we love our pets and bring them into our families they all to often leave us far to soon. Make the most of the time remaining and know when to let go and provide your pets final comfort.
  18. The JF/NY Old Man vid's a pretty good hack and an interesting enough post but aside from that I'd cross a busy street just to avoid NY or any of his like. He's a classic liberal apologist and closet bigot, which unfortunately describes most of the entertainment industry.
  19. That guy can only come off looking good with a speech when he reads from a script he's memorized and been coached on. Force him to make an off the cuff comment or do a town hall presentation like the above video and he's a trainwreck. His minders and the media have sure invested a lot of time and effort into making him look chrasmitic. But as to the context of his speech...yeah its okay to be a liberal...but its not okay to be a liberal who craps on speekers your liberal learning institution wants to make money off of. That cuts into democratic party funding...
  20. So its fix it, return it and wait forevver, or trade it off to someone else willing to fix it. I believe I'd make sure some other firearms forums know about how this is all working out. Other folks might appreciate the warning.
  21. It's a good pistol, I'm not a huge H&K fan but have owned some of their product line over the years. I hope it provides good service to you and enjoyment at the shooting range.
  22. I don't have a picture but the state prisons run some patrol car type vehicles for corrections officers and prison probation officers to use. You'll see them parked at local jails occasionally and on the interstates, they generally say something about Tennessee State Corrections or something.
  23. I hadn't thought of that movie for quite a while...
  24. Hmm. Maybe they should see how well the breed in a hot arid enviorment.
