I thought that was very suspicious too. I almost wonder if there is some medicine or chemical in it keeping everyone calm. Though the governor did drink it so that poles a hole in that theory.

The big question - concealed or open?
TNcitizen22 replied to Pat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Agreed. Ultimately it is your choice. I believe there is a time and place for both, however, 99% of the time I CC. I don't care for all the extra attention when I OC. -
And another reason why James Yeager is a tool

I thought that video was decently well done. At least on a point by point basis. I felt his most recent video where he is actually stating how badass he is was a bit much. -
We have one in Lenoir City as well.

This 'storm' is turning out to be pretty scary. I hope everyone in the NE is sufficiently prepared.

Chattanooga paper endorses Gary Johnson!
TNcitizen22 replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Personally I like Gary Johnson and have been a supporter of his for a while. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Mitt Romney simply because he is not Obama, which seems to be about the best thing he has going on. I realize that my life would be better with Romney in office as opposed to Obama, but I simply dislike both of them, and for the same reasons on many issues. I was quite happy voting for someone who will not win but stands for the things I believe in rather than voting for someone who I honestly think is little better than what we have. Electing a small improvement is not change. Furthermore I do not expect mine, or any votes for Johnson to change the Republican platform. I agree that that standpoint is ludicrous. -
The guy at my local walmart gun counter let me break one of their Colt AR's down a few months ago. I compared just about everything in it with my model 6920 (not from walmart). I could not find a difference.

I keep a 10/22 TD and mags in mine.

I expect unless those prisoners are extremely useful they will be killed/removed from the prison. Rick has become very single minded about protecting the group, and the group has become a good team as seen by their use of the phalanx. I don't see these folks being integrated.

Its a 5+1 .45ACP gun. I gotta say, I have never much cared for the XD line of pistols, and still don't. However, after shooting a friends XDs I really, really want one. It is among the nicest shooting .45's I have ever had the pleasure of using. David, what did you pay for that XDs? So far I am finding mostly MSRP (or very close) in my area.

Howdy all, So I have been carrying a smith 442 everyday in a Galco Ankle Glove holster for almost two years (as a backup) now and am thinking of switching to a model 640 (all steel). I have a decent collection of j-frames, but none that are all steel. Does anyone have any experience carrying a full steel j-frame versus an 'airweight'? I tried to simulate the weight difference (don't laugh) by clipping two folding knives that were 5oz a piece to my ankle rig today, I did not notice much of a difference in my rather unscientific test. Not really looking for a debate about the merits of an airweight vs all steel. I simply like the all steel 640 quite a bit and that's about it.

I was in the other day seriously looking to buy a gun they had in stock. While no stores locally had the gun in stock, I could very easily have had it ordered on gallery and have it tomorrow. I wasn't expecting a full price match, I just asked if they could work at all. The sales clerk simply said no and followed that with silence. I really think that the only people that shop there are either gun newbs or people who just prefer the 'big box' experience.

If you would like a .45 I'll throw my hat in with the Glock 30. I have never had a single malfunction with mine.

Just a note on the Paramilitary 2. I've owned EDC knives ranging from 20-500 dollars. The Paramilitary 2 is my absolute favorite. As far as I am concerned, it is perfectly designed for what it is.

I have owned both of those guns. If picking between the two, I would go for the Beretta. The Beretta has a higher magazine capacity due to caliber (though the Ruger is of a different caliber). The 9mm is a very effective and cost efficient round. Most importantly the Beretta is a gun that you can very easily find parts/accessories/magazines/ammo for. I will say however, the Ruger IMO has a much nicer trigger, and is lighter/smaller than the Beretta if carry is a concern.

I absolutely detest lasers. As far as I am concerned they are a crutch.

Bought mine two weeks ago, already has over 1000 rounds down the pipe. Not a single problem. I would say you are good to go.

My neighbor had it last year, it can be some scary stuff. Sounds like you caught it early though, so you should patch up nicely!

I took mine with a Glock 26, which is still one of my EDC's. While you can qualify with a .22 I am of the mindset it's best to prove yourself with your carry weapon.

I have had my eye on one of those for quite some time. I especially like that light for the fact that it is only 100 lumen, decreases the chance for self blind inside of a house at night.

Knife sharpening in Knoxville
TNcitizen22 replied to TNcitizen22's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Forgot to mention, they currently only accept cash or check. I am going to ask them about accepting plastic in the future when I drop by tomorrow. -
Since I've got some time to kill I thought I would give some props to Kinney Sharpening on the corner of Murdock and Lovell in Knoxville. I had been looking for a place that would sharpen my knives, mower blades, etc that was local and think I've finally found it. I dropped off my Paramilitary 2 and ran a quick errand, when I got back the former edge which sucked was polished and hair shaving sharp. All for the cost of four dollars. I literally have a pile of blades I will be dropping off there sometime soon. So just to spread the word, they offer an excellent service at a very reasonable price. Just as an FYI. I am in no way affiliated with them. Only recently discovered them.

Heard about this when I got to work at the Turkey Creek store today. Very sad and confounding indeed. My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.
