  1. Yep. And I can't hardly wait til I get the chance to do some testing of my own. I have 2x4's and scrap drywall. All I have to do is some assembly and head out the back door.
  2. "5/8 inch drywall was used in order to comply with all relevant building codes." Not a big deal to me, but to my knowledge most residential construction uses 1/2 inch drywall.
  3. Exactly!!! Concealed carry would prevent/solve so many problems.
  4. Maybe because when a bull runs you down that's about where his eyes are.
  5. GOOD!!!! Idiots like that hurt all of us.
  6. Yep. My EDC is also my NSG. It's not the only loaded gun in the house. I have a couple others strategically placed.
  7. When I was growing up my father always did without guns. Every christmas I would ask for a new gun and get it. When I turned 18, out of high school, and started earning a little money I did the same thing for my father. Only my purchase was a Remington 30-06 semi auto with a really nice scope. It was one of the first times I saw my father shed tears. I know the topic is about the legality of purchasing handgun, but I just wanted to commend you on thoughtfulness.
  8. I've read on here several times and been told once that this has never happened in TN so we don't know how it will play out. Now, I guess we do. At least in this instance.
  9. I used to work for a contractor in Smyrna until the economy went south. He decided to become a cop in Hendersonville. He had never fired a gun before in his life. Nor was he "street smart". Of course with education, training, and experience he can do the job, but I sure didn't feel good about him.
  10. OP, I guess you are getting the idea by now, but I also go chambered.
  11. I may be wrong, but isn't it more than just a misdemeanor? Don't you also lose your privilege to carry legally?
  12. Don't get me wrong, other than not having the element of surprise, I'd much rather OC. It's more comfortable and practical. That's why LE, military, etc. OC. I just don't believe it's the wisest choice in in today's environment.
  13. As I mentioned, it's not a matter of being legal. It's perception. OC makes the anti gun folks uncomfortable, which in turn draws negative attention, which in turn causes businesses, parks, etc. to post, not to mention dealing with foolish 911 calls and such. All of this makes it more difficult for those who want to legally carry all because someone wants to push their legal right to OC. This is why I consider it a disservice to those who want to go about their day to day lives quietly, not drawing unwanted attention to themselves, yet able to legally carry.
  14. Legal or not, those who open carry do a real disservice to us. All it does is add more fuel to the granola crunching, gun busting groups fire.
  15. Last couple of years I've heard Hickory Hollow referred to as "Hickory Harlem". Last time I was there, there was roving bands of little thugs. If I wasn't going armed, I wouldn't be going.
  16. I wouldn't be so quick to send him to another shop. The OP didn't say anything about the pricing. What if all the other shops have the gun at $500 and this shop has it at $475? I've seen scenarios like this. There is a little gun shop in Murfreesboro ran by Grady Jones. He prices his guns at an out the door price on the tag: gun, tax, background, you name it. No haggle, none. He has a Ruger .380 lcp for (at least was) $339. I think OnTarget's was like $349 + tax + background.

    Sig P250

Thanks. You guys are making me feel a lot better.
  18. Running around half neked (that's how we say it), banging on doors like some mad idiot is a good indicator as to why neighbors are having issues with him.
  19. The age old question, "Does a bear poop in the woods?". Yes, unless he's eaten a bushel of apples, then he can "barely" make it off the back porch cause he's got a case of the "green apple quick step".

    Pawn shop guns

I'd be interested in knowing what are the chances that any of the guns in the pawn shops are stolen. I know they are supposed to run number checks with the PD, but what if the owner, like most people, didn't have their numbers recorded? I always hear that guns are the #1 item stolen from homes. Could buying stolen guns be encouraging thieves to steal mine and your guns? I don't know if any of these concerns are legit. I guess that's why I'm asking.

    Sig P250

I would have gone with a Glock, but is just felt so "clunky/chunky" in my hands. I couldn't get past that. I kept hearing over and over, "get the one that feels the most comfortable to you". I also tried some others, but kept going back to the Sig. Having said that, I'd rather have a gun that does not feel the most comfortable but is reliable as to one that feels good but doesn't always perform. As stated before, mine has had zero issues so far. But, the "so far" has not been very long yet.

    Sig P250

I purchased a Sig P250 a couple of months ago. So far I've only ran about 300 rounds through it. I also used it when I went for my HCP. I really like the gun. To me, it shoots very nice and feels great. However, I am now afraid of the possible upcoming buyers remorse and am wishing I had done more research before making the purchase. The reason. Last night I came across a thread on another forum with 224 posts dating back to 2008 to the present. Most where complaining about ejecting/jambing issues. Some started having problems from the first rounds fired. Others developed later. Mine has performed flawless so far. I am hoping that the problems with the gun were worked out before my purchase. What do you guys know about the P250 and what should I expect?
  23. As far as them being illegal aliens, you don't even have to go that far. It would be interesting to do random background checks on the staff at any eating establishment. I'd be willing to venture that you'd get the full array felons, perverts, etc. And to think people line up to eat their cooking. The more I learn about it, and think about it, I can hardly eat out anymore.
  24. Bingo! I believe it's the main reason. It's all about liability. They are business and are protecting their assets. If that were not the case they could just ask that all patrons who carry must conceal to make their gunaphobe folks feel warm and fuzzy.
  25. I'll show my ignorance and ask, Why would a person care what caliber they record? My thinking is as long as a person passes the course and is able to receive his HCP is all that matters.
