    COLT WOES

Maybe he could send Colt a copy of the repair receipt an a copy of this thread. He and others seem to have a good attitude about the situation which I think Colt would appreciate.

    Tipping.

I love it when an industry dictates how much of your money you should spend. Kinda like the diamond industry saying a man should spend 3 months of his income on an engagement ring. I see a lot of servers working really hard for their dollars and deserve to be treated respectfully and rewarded accordingly. However, it's been my observation that the well deserving has been on the decline. Furthermore, I will not be guilted into some industry standard reward method because someone with a pee pee entitlement attitude happened past my table.
  4. I'm usually way behind on the trendy phrases and words. Just yesterday I noticed my 15 year old son mention "tactical" this and "tactical" that. He and his buddies are all into air soft guns. While there is a reality to it, the marketers have dumbed it down just like they do everything else.
  5. Also, four wheel drive is better than two wheel drive, hydrostat is better than gear trans., snow plow is better than blower, and R4 tires are better than R1 (thanks TractorByNet). And, even though it's personal preference, CC is better.
  6. It is my personal belief the #2 is the main reason, which in one sense is a bunch of #2. Most folks put personal beliefs aside when is comes to making the $$$, even when that belief is supportive of 2a.
  7. Well I'll be, I was there today! I sat to the right of the stage, second row of tables. That was an excellent show. My son and dad were with me. Ole Ranger Doug used to come to my elementary school in Greenbrier. His former wife was my teacher. I went carrying, didn't see any posting, so kept on.
  8. Same, but no question mark.
  9. Back when I was 20 and weighed 150lbs, I would have thought, "you weenie!, man up, if the Egyptians could build the pyramids surely you can move a 800lb safe!", and if were mine I would have moved it. Now, at 42 and weighing 170, I'd most likely hire it out also.
  10. After reading several post about Regions, my curiosity was on high alert. I just never noticed a gun buster sign before. So today when I went, I was paying particular attention. I went to the main location in Murfreesboro, the one just off the square that is located in our one and only "skyscraper". I pulled up right in front of the door. I sat there scanning over the whole entrance and door. Not a buster sign in sight. So, I thought all was good and headed in. Not until I got to the second set of doors did I notice this little sticker about 4x6 inches place below the door cross bar handle that had the gun buster emblem and law. And, I would not have noticed it if I had not been searching! Too small, too late. I was inside. I conducted my transaction and left. I am not condoning transgressing the law, but that sign sure didn't appear that they really wanted their patrons to keep the law either. Kinda like the micro small print at the bottom of a sales contract. I am either going to change banks, big hassle, or only use the drive thru.
  11. I was in wally world in Murfreesboro about two weeks ago to purchase some shotgun shells for my son. Right there, sat boxes of 28 ga. I had never even heard of 28 ga. and had no clue that there was a handgun coming out for such.
  12. The best way to learn to drive in the snow is to go out an play in it. Back when I was in high school, on snow days me and my buddies would go out driving all day. Never an accident. But, as was mentioned, there are a couple of factors at hand. A real snows are few and far between. We just don't get enough practice. So, when we get a snow I always make time to do a few donuts in the church parking lot, as few slides, etc. Then it all starts to come back.
  13. Congratulations. I think it's impressive that you sheriff's department conducted the course.

    SNOW!!!

Amen!!! Twenty something years ago during my high school years I worked in a little hometown grocery store in Greenbrier Tn. At that time we would get some decent snows up there on top of the ridge. Just like you said, when snow was called for we would be swamped in the store. The next day, over half them goofballs would be back in the store and there would be 5 inches of snow on the ground.
  15. Went to the gun show in Nashville. Picked up a Ruger LCP 380. Best price I could find was 269+24.88 tx+10 background=303.88 out the door. I really like the LCP for pocket carry. Couple of observations about the gun show. First, I find it rather interesting that one booth is selling the LCP for 300, the one directly across from him selling it for 279, and the one around the corner that I purchased from was 269. Second, I've been to the show in Murfreesboro a couple of time and I expected the one in Nashville to be better. Better was not the feeling me nor my son walked away with. Didn't seem to near as many vendors or the quality of vendors either. Also, we got tickled at the gang-banger looking dudes and the type of weapons they were checking out.
  16. Because my father who knew less than I did had mentioned to me that he thought it was an Ithaca made gun. Knowing him, bless his good as gold heart, he probably paid through the nose for it. He's the type that goes to a car dealer and pays full sticker. He is also the type that gives his shirt off his back to anyone in need. Gotta love him.
  17. gearyr, I bet you are right. Would you have any suggestions as to what mine is worth. It does have the rubber recoil pad on it as well.
  18. I was given a black powder muzzle loader that belonged to my father. The only indications of the maker is the letter " I " stamped on the barrel. It is a 50 cal. Made in Italy. It has an octagon barrel that is chrome lined. Adjustable sights. Also stamped on the barrel, "instruction manual available from Investarm Spa 25050 Marcheno Italy". The serial #235439. I was wondering if someone could educate me about this gun. What is it worth? I would like to sale it or trade it for a gun I'd rather have. It's a very handsome gun, but I just don't have a use for it. My father bought it from someone he worked with and there is no sentimental value in it for me.
  19. You reminded me, good neighbors go a long, long way in making up a complete security system. Where I lived previously we had an elderly couple across the street. Between the two of them being up and down at all hours we had round the clock security eyes. They knew and saw everything. Sweet old couple. Very easy to like. We kept an eye on each other. Now, where I'm at we are kinda out of town, our neighbors work round the clock, coming and going at different hours. We also look out for each other. Neither of us have set hours.
  20. +1 Sure would seem to solve a lot of concerns.
  21. That's exactly what I thought!
  22. I just checked out their website. They seem like they are pretty good. However, If I were getting a safe, the last thing I would want is some big truck plastered billboard announcing to the world that I am getting a safe. One of the major components of security is privacy as has been mentioned throughout this thread. A bad guy could reason that if someone is getting a safe they must have some pretty good stuff. And, as mentioned, any BG with enough determination can get to what you got. Another thing about safes. A friend of mine used to be a cop. He would discourage folks from getting and using safes. He said some bad guys would break into a house while owners were away. Find the safe and not be able to get inside it. The bad guys would come back when the owners were home and make them open the safe. Now you may say like I do, "If I'm home, ain't no BG gonna make me open my safe!". But, I know the BG could make my wife. Also, the BG could make me if he had a gun or knife to my wife's throat. All that to say, a safe may actually be inviting more trouble than it's worth. Just food for thought.
  23. Or, having heard the warning they may hunker down, wait for you to appear, and drop you in your tracks. They'll know you are armed and the location you are coming from. Just something to think about.
  24. Me too. I guess I'm behind. I'd love to have a couple.
  25. I like some of the JW movies. I really liked JW the person. I could not stand the way he walked. Lets just say his walk made him look like he'd really be glad they removed the DADT policy. I'd like to see the new movie but will wait until I can view it at home and remove some of the objectionable material. Now, if you want someone who was really a tough good guy, let's talk Matt Dillion who John Wayne endorsed for GunSmoke.
