  1. I'll throw in another topic for discussion. Would you or would you not leave your barricaded room to get to a room that your pets are housed in? My house is setup to where I could leave my room at the end of the hallway and make my way to the room where we keep the dogs at night (sometimes they sleep with us depending on if they've had a bath) without allowing anyone to get behind me or to my bedroom. I myself consider the pets part of the family (although not on the same level as wife and kids) and would attempt to do so unless the bad guys were already in the house and couldn't safely do so.
  2. I'm thinking I'll go with the magnum as well. I haven't been looking but is magnum more readily available the .22lr?
  3. the bolt just adds that nostalgia I guess.
  4. I'm thinking utilitarian type rifle that will kill squirrels and not mind getting scratched up. Definitely not a pretty as wood though. I have always wanted a nice bolt .22. Any idea on the going price?
  5. That's definitely on the want list now.
  6. Haha yeah I thought about you when she said that! I myself didn't find anything great about the trigger or the gun in general other than light recoil and being built like a tank but hey I'm glad she likes it. Getting a few more mags for it now so it should be with us for the long haul.  There is NO WAY I'd get rid of it now that she has said she loved shooting it.   Just wait until she shoots the M&P pro CORE model I have decided on (I think). If I can find one that is.
  7. my wife likes the Ruger P95 the best! Go figure huh??? That's out of Glocks, M&P's, CZ75s, Kahr's, Third Gen S&W's, etc. I don't own all of those now but she has shot all of them and said "that's my favorite gun out of all of them you have had."   Anyone else's wife have a "different" taste in handguns than you do?
  8. Yeah I'm not too worried about that recall now as I can test whatever I get in the shop. I have decided against getting a .40 so I am stuck between the shield 9mm and the full size 9mm.
  9. I have a Serpa holster that I ripped the lock off of that I am planning on using in the truck. The holster is rigid enough that I can just shove it in between the seats and probably anchor it somehow. I plan on just cutting off the belt portion and using it solely in the truck.
  10. Yeah that video is clearly staged in favor of the kid. What are the chances of a three year old opening a quality safe with it bolted to something solid?
  11. Forgot to thank you for this idea. I don't know why I never thought of it. I actually have one X-Grip already just no mag to put it on. I will be going to Nashville this weekend so I am going to hit up some of the gun shops in the area and hopefully score some mags. I am hoping to buy the gun used when the time comes. For some reason these shields are popping up alot online now.
  12. Yeah JD that's the way I am leaning. I am still on the fence of getting a fullsize .40 or a sheild. I would like to have both but just have to handle a shield and see if it is REALLY worth getting. I am still concerned about the whole barrel swap thing. I would prefer to be able to do that but don't want to try it unless it is something that will be 100% reliable. From what I have seen online that isn't the case. I may just stick with 9mm and get either the shield or the full size.
  13. I tend to agree with this BUT I think I would have to be barricaded in my room with my wife and with the door shut and locked to feel comfortable with this. Any other way and I feel like I would just be giving away my position. Luckily we both sleep in the same bed so I don't have to do much to get in that position.
  14. Thanks for the info man. Not doubting you personally but the interwebz is full of guys saying that the barrels work fine (I'm sure they do based on what you said) but that there is some concern regarding the head spacing and the 9mm barrel not locking up as tight as the .40. Couldn't this cause some problems at some point?
  15. Is the barrel swap from .40 to 9 more reliable than the line wolf glock swap? Are the extractors different? If they are as reliable as stock then the .40 shield seems to be the way to go.
  16. Yeah over the past hour or so I have been leaning towards the full size 9. I had a full size 9 before and traded it for the compact. I missed it ever since. It would be nice to own both of them and have it to shoot IDPA with (if I can ever get over the ridiculous rule changes).   I just am not comfortable with the mouse guns. I had an LCP that I just traded off a few days ago. Not really the caliber or capacity but just the fact that I can't shoot them or handle them well. I don't really like pocket carry either.   The ONLY drawback to the M&P's for me is the NEED for the Apex DCAEK kits.
  17. Well money is and isn't an issue. I am going to buy another handgun either way but only ONE so I want to make it count haha. I was really thinking of buying a full size M&P .45  to use as a nightstand gun and then having the compact for EDC. I have about 50 different scenarios playing in my head. Decisions decisions. I have however about decided to stop trading/selling. I regret it every time. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I like the M&P platform over most others and want to base my EDC and nightstand gun on it hence the yearning for another M&P.
  18. Also if any shield owners can answer this I'd appreciate it.   Which grip size in a standard M&P is closest to the grip profile of the shield?
  19. It'd be ideal if I could get a full size and the shield. The compact carries better for me than the Glock 19/23 for some reason and I love it for the extra capacity over the shield.
  20. I already have a M&P9C? I traded my 9C off a while back to a friend for a Glock 23 and just couldn't make myself fall in love with the Glock so we traded back yesterday. The M&P just feels the best in my hand out of all of the plastic fantastics. With the Apex DCAEK the trigger is great but just a little different. I can deal with that. ANYWAY back to the question:   Is it worth it for me to get the shield in 9mm for an EDC? I am already comfortably carrying the 9C but am looking for something slightly smaller for these hot summer days. I was initially wanting a smaller .45 ACP such as the XDS but didn't really want to go with a different platform. Of course the shield doesn't come in .45.
  21. That's the way I'm leaning.
  22. Got her all cleaned up last night and MAN is that grip slick. I almost couldn't go to sleep without stippling it but I think I am just going to buy a talon grip for it. Still haven't got to shoot it but it seems like a solid gun. It's cool that the rails on the frame have no embedded steel in them. The trigger is not the greatest in the world but its not horrible. Mine was made in '97 so the white dot sights are more like brown dots. Once I get those painted and get a grip on it I imagine it will be a great shooter!   Now to decide between a Glock 36 and the XDS 45.
  23. Well if it is that reliable it may also double as a backup HD gun. I have been wanting to stash one in the bathroom anyways. Haven't shot it yet but I like the feel.
  24. The Taurus TCP is SLIGHTLY larger than the LCP just FYI if you haven't handled it. Has a better trigger too.
  25. Hey you never know!     I guess you can go ahead and share haha.    Just want to state that this won't be intended for protection use but mainly a fun/range gun. I bought a Glock 23 with the intent to get a conversion barrel but never have and now I have about 1000 rounds of 9mm with no gun to shoot them in. I am tired of this ammo crisis and am getting ready to just shoot.
