  1. Yea I'd love to have a professional range quality berm but that may not be in the cards depending on cost. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere I can or want to pull dirt from on the property. Thankfully its flat. I should be able to get a dirt truck back to it though.   Edit. Probably 100-130 yards max shooting distance. I'd say 100 though. The problem if you want to call it that is that Hwy 840 is directly behind my 3 acre lot. Albeit up a small hill.
  2. I am hoping to build myself a small range with a earth berm within the next year and am hoping to get some opinions on it and hopefully an idea of cost. I have no idea how much dirt will be needed or what dirt costs for that matter. I am thinking 8-10 ft high would be about right. I'll be the only one shooting most of the time and if someone else does it will be controlled. No IDPA or anything. Mainly just sighting and plinking. Too high or not high enough?
  3. Haha it may just be all the delicious free meals I get to eat. I believe I could live on Chicken/Turkey and dressing. I actually bring my own can of cranberry sauce to gatherings.  :pleased:   Also I do all of my Christmas shopping online or this time in November. I don't want to be in a store around Christmas time.
  4. Oh I gotta have my tree :). Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I do hate how commercial it has become but I love Christmas tunes, finding and cutting a tree, buying gifts, etc. I do love getting and giving gifts but it's essential that I remember the gifts are to remind me of the gift that Jesus gave me and all of us. Lights on the other hand.........well they are just too much trouble and if they are outside I can't see em' anyways.    I am still seeing yards full of halloween decorations and I know a few folks who leave those lights up all year round and just plug them up when Christmas rolls around.
  5. Never mind. I see that one is black but also nylon. If you are wanting a cotton one take note of that.
  6. Yeah I found plenty cheaper just not in black. Oh well. I'll post up the quality once I get it.
  7. That's beautiful! So where will the logo go? I don't guess I'm quite clear on that. Wanted to ask earlier but didn't want to jumble up the thread. (Didn't want to be the first anyways  )
  8. I'm of the mind that if I don't need it (i don't as of right now) I buy it and just give it to (or sell it at cost if we aren't close) someone I know does and that won't resell it. Why leave it to chance?  :pleased:   With that said I'd panic if I saw mini mags. I haven't seen those in a while.
  9. I'm gonna have to bow out of this one...again.....  :(  I was wanting it for a daily user and just can't bring myself to scratch up something that pretty.
  10. I'm on the opposite end. Finally moving back to the country I can't wait to cut grass again!    I'm sure that will fade after the first time though.
  11. Sweet. That's exactly what I ordered just in black. I also found some pics of them attached to AR's so I see how they work now.
  12. I will second a good hear rate monitor. Popular to contrary belief you don't have to run until you can't run no mo'. :pleased:  You can usually get a good polar monitor with chest strap on ebay for less than $100. Set it to your age and weight and all that and it will keep you in your target heart rate. It's funny to see how little it takes to get your heart rate going with the monitor. I find myself doing lots of walking with sprints in between to keep it in that target area.   Also second what Clod said on resistance training. That keeps your body burning calories long after the exercise is over. You can even just go to wally world and buy a pair of dumbbells to have at home. No need to go to the gym at first. When you get to a certain point you will want those exercise options a gym affords.   Good luck!
  13. That's pretty cool! The main thing I wanted was the cotton and as cheap as those were I went ahead and ordered it. I won't ever have a use for a single point sling. The main reason I want the GI style is so I can unclip it easily and do the "arm rap" technique for stability. Once I learn to do it that is haha.
  14. I am looking for recommendations on a simple two point sling for the AR. I am looking hard at the GI style M1 Garand cotton web slings but am not sure if they would attach to the AR slings correctly. They have the little metal j-hook on one end and from what I can tell it should fit but I just don't know? Anyone have experience with this? I would like to take an Appleseed course soon and this type of sling should fit the bill.   I found this one on eBay. Good to go?   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Web-Rifle-Sling-Service-Rifle-or-Carbine-Black-New-USGI-Cotton-Web-Heavy-MILSPEC-/380805161390?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58a9c1a1ae
  15. Thanks guys. I was able to play with one on a rifle today and I see what you mean. It's easier to look "through" the sight at the target and really just see the red dot if the tube itself is smaller. My only concern now is that the 2 MOA dot will be hard to see in direct sunlight.
  16. I guess it's just a matter of it I want to see more target inside the optic or more area around the optic.
  17. From the description online under the category "gear" would be accessories pertaining to firearms. For knives I'd probably list them in the Non-Firearm related category. For body armor it could really be either depending on how you look at it. I'm not in charge here but I doubt it will matter much either way.
  18. Well I got to handle both the Strikefire 2 and Sparc 2 last night. I really like the size, feel , and look of the Sparc as well as the 2 MOA dot. However the Strikefire has a larger diameter tube that I can't help but think I would like in the long run. Seems like it would aid in target acquisition. It really needs to be mounted to a gun to test though. You can only do so much holding it in your hands. I also did not get to check it out in daylight.
  19. Well I must say I am impressed with how quickly my order was shipped based on times others are getting. I ordered a complete lower on the 4th and the shipping label was created yesterday. Granted it won't go out until Monday but it's coming! Hopefully they take care of you.
  20. Yeah it would have the sleek but utilitarian look I like. I would prefer a black blade on this one though I know may be the minority haha.
  21. I can dig a tanto. My motivation is a good carry knife though. This seems to be slightly larger than my volt 2 which I edc. Seems just about right.
  22. To be honest I didn't recognize the name and don't remember it. It wasn't really a flyer but a small printed note letting us know we could attend a discussion about it. It was a very "preliminary" letter.
  23. I am pretty set on getting either a Vortex Strikefire 2 or Sparc 2 but would like to get some opinions on MOA dot size. I like the fact that the Sparc itself is smaller but can't help but think the 4 MOA would suit me better. I doubt I ever get a magnifier or anything for this particular gun as I just want it to be as simple as possible. Any pro's or cons between the two sizes?
  24. Yeah if it doesn't start showing up within a year or so I will probably look to other calibers. I mean I have plenty of .22 but being able to walk into Walmart any day of the week and buy 5.56 or any other common caliber other than .22 (as I did this morning) is nice. The ONLY thing .22lr really does for me is be cheap. If it ain't doing that then i'm less interested.
  25. Just wanted to let you guys in the Bellevue are know that there MAY be a new shooting range opening up in the old Regal Cinema building. I received a flyer in the mail yesterday stating that a few investors were looking at putting one in there. They are having a meeting about it at some point in time. I don't know if it will come through but keep your ears open. It makes sense that this would happen right when I move to Lebanon.
