  1. Good grief! I am still having trouble deciding if I can safely put up a three sided berm on my property out in the county on 3 acres. This guy has a pile of sand and a couple of pallets in a back yard with neighbors on the other side i'm sure. How does he think that's safe?
  2. I usually only carry one. Either pocket carry snubby or IWB G19. Extra ammo either way. If I break either of those I can run pretty fast if you scare me bad enough. I have considered carrying two but just never took to it.
  3. Yeah that's another thing I don't care for. The Sparc is a 2 MOA which is great but I hate having to click it up and down when going from light to dark environments. I guess though if you are shooting long shots though you have a little time to adjust. I just don't like having to push buttons period. I just want to pull up and shoot. I'm almost certain that my next AR will have a magnified optic with offset irons. It will be more of a fun/gaming gun though.
  4. If she priced it for $502 I wonder what she gave the guy that sold it??? or stole and sold it.... :stunned:  Either way great find! I'm in the same boat as you with my first. Be prepared to spend a little dough figuring out what accessories you like. Changing the stock grip was one of my best bang for the buck purchases.
  5. The thing I like the most is no on/off switch. I realize I can spend $400 and get an Aimpoint PRO to leave on but I just don't want to spend that much. :pleased:
  6. Yeah I definitely want something sturdy that will last.
  7. I really like how the MBUS I have now has the flip down/up aperture and am pretty solid with it shooting from a rest out to 100. The gun itself is a tack driver so if I do my part it will do its part. I will say I like the look of the Daniel Defense the most.
  8. I think I am going to put the Sparc II on the chopping block so head to the classifieds if you want it!
  9. If going with a fixed rear sight what would you guys recommend? Most say either Troy or LMT from the little research I've done.
  10. I have been going back and forth in my mind about running irons only on my AR. This particular AR (my first) is meant to be a basic light SHTF type gun. I currently have the Vortex Sparc II on it at absolute co-witness with a Magpul MBUS rear. I have never tried any other irons other than the magpul so I don't know what to expect. I am looking at something like the Troy fixed rear or the dioptic sight.   Do any of you guys run irons only and have any advice on what to expect? Should I be able to get ALMOST as fast target acquisition with irons with practice?
  11. I have been using the Lee paste that I have but I will probably pick up some imperial once that runs out. I am at a stand still now as the new Hornady chamfer/deburring tool I just bought has broken. PSA is going to send me a new one once I mail them mine back (they emailed a prepaid label) so hopefully that doesn't take long. Luckily I prepped a good bit of brass before it broke so I can run a few batches and find a load I like.   I tumbled immediately after sizing on these. I may try just tumbling the completed round on the next batch. I honestly don't know how much blaster rifle ammo I will be loading though. I will keep components around for it but is sure is a pain compared to pistol.
  12. I feel weird putting all of this online but I just wanted to share some good news with all of you and hopefully it offers some encouragement to someone else reading it. I was talking to daddy last night about coming to visit this weekend and the opportunity arose to ask about his salvation and THANK GOD he gave me the courage to just come out and ask him if he knew the Lord. He told me the date he was saved, the location and the preacher. Man that was good to hear and I feel like a tree trunk has been lifted off of my chest and heart. I still plan to go home this weekend so we will get to continue the conversation. He starts chemo today so he has a rough road ahead but in the grand scheme of things I hope he can remember where he is going after death regardless of the present outcome.   I won't drag this thread out any longer but one last time I just wanted to thank all of you guys for your support and prayers. It's really cool and not the norm to have a group of guys like this on an online forum.
  13. You can always tell they are having fun by how fast the shots usually start coming out. Usually on the third or so shot.  Bang.....................................Bang.............Bang......Bang..Bang.Bang.Bang.Bangangangangang.  ....Then they turn around really fast and sweep everyone in the range. :pleased:
  14. Yep. I haven't noticed much of that. The worst was when I opened the garage door one time with a big temperature differential and got a good bit of condensation. Again though I am not having to run mine long. The little space is actually insulated pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. It's working good so far. I haven't bought a bigger tank yet. I did run through one 20b tank but it wasn't really full to begin with. I was also running it wide open and not using the thermostat.   The thing to watch out for as others have said is burning up the oxygen. I actually have a window in my shop so I just crack it a little after it warms up to let fresh air in. It doesn't really drop the temp much either. I would also install a carbon monoxide alarm which I have done.   I may have to get a new heater after this winter though. The one I was gifted is a blue flame type and I am concerned it is not burning at 100% efficiency as the tips of the flame have some red on them right off the bat. Once it warms up though I just leave it on low so it kicks on and off regularly.I will probably go with an infrared net time.   If you plan on using it a lot then I would definitely go for a big tank.
  16. I believe their is actually a phone app that you can download to listen in. I may be totally off base and don't have anything to back this up but I was once told that they HAD to allow you to listen in to the radio chatter. You just couldn't transmit.
  17. Gonna get my re curve out when I get home.  :pleased: I think I'll stick to one at a time though.   That's amazing.
  18. I FINALLY got all the parts in to get my AR to the point where I thought I'd like it ( You all know how that goes) but I am having trouble getting comfortable with the carbine length handguard with a small rail section installed for my QD sling mount. I am not really interested in removing / changing / cutting the front sight post and installing a free float rail so I began looking for a drop in midlength rail and came across the Troy. Anyone have any experience with this particular handguard? I know troy makes good stuff but that's not a small chunk of change to invest without some research.   https://troyind.com/products/delta-mid-length-blk
  19. That's pretty dang cool! I'll pick one up once they are around $50.
  20. Haha I won't flame you. I have heard good things about the class. I just don't want to spend quite that much starting off. Just looking to get the basics built into muscle memory then once I get better move up to the next levels. I spoke to the gentleman than runs Agapa Tactical yesterday and I think I may go with them for the basics.   Thing is i'm not really interested in doing all the team drills and room clearing and all that. Not to say it doesn't look fun and that I won't want to some day but right now I just want to be proficient with it.
  21. I have two of the newer .22lr models (one bolt and one semi auto) and have had no issues with them but they were built a few years ago. My 336 is older though so I can't comment on those.
  22. I too liked the 36 in most aspects except for capacity. I currently own a Gen 2 G19 that I plan to keep. I'd love to get my hands on a Gen 1 G17. If they do eventually release a single stack 9mm I would consider it for IWB carry as I mostly carry my G19 OWB.
  23. Yeah I was a youngin' when that happened and didn't have the emotional maturity to take it all in at the time. I can tell you though when the scenes played over showing it all happening again in the movie it was very moving and he did a VERY good job of displaying the anger that I'm sure we all feel when watching the crashes.
  24. Yep same here. It was very powerful. I've never felt so much pride and sorrow at the same time.
  25. I have the Vortex Sparc II and am pleased with it. Lot's of youtube reviews if you care to check them out.
