Any ATV drag racing around Lebanon or Nashville?
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
Worked that time for me. I'll be attending this regardless. I have been hoping there was a car track close to my house. I can't afford to race anything bigger than an ATV but I like to watch haha. -

That's cool. I get a dead link though. I'm really looking for a dirt track and I assume this was asphalt??? -
I really don't think it's bermuda though. I am leaning towards just tilling it in and keeping at it with a hoe. Heck half the fun of a garden is working in it!
-
This area was originally grown up waist high so I would call it pasture grass but who knows. I'll get a picture if it's not flooded tonight.

I am longing for a good ATV drag racetrack somewhere in the Nashville area. Preferably on the east side. Anyone know of anything?
-
I will admit I know nothing about grass. Maybe I'll take a pic and see if you guys can identify it. This may not be something I should even worry about. I'm sure I'll be fighting it back regardless so I may just be better of tilling it up and going with it.

So I have narrowed it down to tilling lightly over it to break up the grass and them raking it up or just renting a sod cutter to get it off. The ground is not perfectly flat in some spots so I don't know how the cutter will do? What would you do? I really just don't want to spray this close to planting and not sure how much good it will do right now anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So anyone in the Lebanon area want to make a few bucks?

Yeah I'm gonna miss some of them. I don't think I'm gonna do any root crops this year though. I read something about the ground still having alot of grass in it the first year that parasites like so to stay with fruiting plants. I do want to do greens though. Maybe I can get them in time. Tomatoes, okra, squash and peppers are where it's at though. I may do some sweet corn as well. The grapes will be a new adventure entirely but honestly I'm not too worried with those if it doesn't take this year. I had plans for fruit trees as well but that ship has sailed on me until next year.

I haven't seen a coon around yet but I'm sure they will come. The deer were skittish right when we moved in due to the dog in the back yard but after I cut the back area down where my garden will go they showed back up. I may put a feeder further back on the property to discourage them from the garden.

Lots of great info thanks. I am thinking I will rent the tiller the first time as these rental places normally have the bigger and better models. In the fall I have my eye on a Husqvarna with reverse for $600 clams. On that big of a purchase I'll think about it for a while. So you'd recommend spraying it now? I have been told by others not to spray. Never asked why though. Are you saying kill the grass and all or get some type of chemical that only kills certain things?

Thought i'd resurrect this thread for the year and ask a few questions. I plan on tilling new ground for my garden once the weather and ground gets right. I do not have a turning plow or anything like that and have to go buy or rent a tiller. I have been told a good rear tine tiller will do just fine breaking new ground so hopefully that's true. Do I need to remove the top layer of grass as some internet sites show? I haven't tested the soil yet but will be doing that before tilling so I can add whatever I need to. I also plan to plant some grapes for eating as well as grapes for wine making. Not sure how it will turn out or if they will even produce around here but I'm gonna give it a shot. How do you guys protect the garden from deer? I won't have a fence or anything around it and am thinking of just buying one of the DC powered electric fence kits and running a strand around it. Will the deer not just hop right over?
-
My guess is that the production folks just didn't put alot of thought or emphasis on this. Maybe it was so they could film the scene of the girl and Carl climbing out.

Did that last year when it got really cold. Like massive pot holes? It was really bad right around Jackson. I think the water gets down in the road then when the deep freeze sets in you get the cracking pavement. That's what I saw on TV anyways.

Painting airweight J-Frame?
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
That would be great. Thanks. -
I have a Smith 637 that I am thinking of painting. The clear coat is coming off and while I don't really care if it looks like a used gun I would just prefer that it be black. In some of the pants I wear the back of the grip rides right at the top of my pocket and the silver strap draws attention to it. I have seen at least one thread online somewhere a guy used duracoat on it. I am wondering if I can get away with some good flat black engine paint. I would want it to be semi durable but am not looking for a cerakote quality job. As with everything paint I'm sure prep work is the key but I'm not sure how to prep this. Anyone done something like this before?

I am wanting to load up some 75gr boat tails and am wondering if any of you have some load data on a starting point. I don't have my backyard range setup yet so range trips are valuable. I have shot the minimum 21 grains and they are as expected pretty weak. I have loaded a few at 21.5 but haven't shot them yet. I guess I can load a few at each .5 interval but I'd like to load a good number of rounds and if I could get a good idea at what may work best I will load more of those. I have also have some 55gr VMAX that I can load if you have any ideas on those. I want to get rid of them as they are a pain to seat. I'll be using H335. I also have a pound of CFE223 I can use.

I'm thinking maybe he was thinking of a Hi-Power.??

Don't forget Brian Williams.

What do you plan to use it for? Hard to beat a good ole' Remington 700 for a bolt gun. You can get them fairly cheap used with a synthetic stock. Also available in many calibers. And later on if you want to upgrade it there are plenty of aftermarket parts around.

Happened here. I just thought it was the wind blowing a chair over. I then realized they were all stuck to the deck and went to investigate. Seeing nothing I assumed contraction due to the cold but didn't think it was in the ground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm curious if anyone has one of the PTAC rifles and how they like it. My PSA "premium" build is a tack driver but still has a slightly canted front sight that drives me nuts.

Ukraine might have been nuked, video inside.

Admittedly I didn't listen to it with the volume on so I didn't hear what they heard. I assume they were pointing towards noise but again they had to have some idea that something was about to go down. Or up. -

So why exactly is this person standing their filming out the window? They seem to know something is about to happen... -
