Recommend me a IWB holster
maroonandwhite replied to gomer pyle's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I'd check into the Alien Gear 3.0 holster. I owned the original version which was a crossbreed clone just like all the others and didn't care for it. I have a buddy that has the 2.0 and it's a much nicer holster. You can see the details on their site but they do away with the leather in favor or plastic and neoprene. He say's it's much more comfortable and has no long break in period. The 3.0 (which I just ordered) adds another layer of spring sheet metal or something like that to give it a little more rigidity. I think it also adds another layer of cushion. They are right at $50 shipped too with a lifetime warranty and you can swap out the kydex shell for free if you change guns. -

I might just take you up on that. I was hoping to get my hands on one before buying. -

I just received one of these connectors to put in my Glock 19 along with a NY1 trigger spring. I am currently using it for EDC along with IDPA. I had reservations about putting an aftermarket connector into an EDC weapon and I have to say I believe it was warranted. I installed the connector along with the NY1 spring and while the trigger pull actually seemed as heavy if not heavier than stock it was pretty smooth all the way through. I'm sure the heaviness was due to the NY1 spring. I believe it would feel really nice with a standard trigger spring. The problem came when I did a reset test.....it didn't reset. I pulled it back apart and made sure I had it in correctly which I did. I then got online and did some searching. While Zev tech doesn't mention any fitting needed on there site it seems that you may have to do some bending on it. That seems kind of counterproductive on a piece like that. I will be getting a Glock 34 at some point this year so I am just going to leave the internals alone on this one. May polish it up a bit. Does anyone else have any experience with these? I may attempt to install one in the future on a non EDC gun.

Man that looks like fun. And five stages?! I'll be there. Gonna bring my wife too so she can film and help paste targets. Maybe she will get the bug. -

Making power factor for IDPA.

I appreciate it. I see numerous folks on other sites using 3.5 gr of it under 147gr bullets but who know of that can be trusted. I'll look at my manual when I get home but I doubt it lists it since from what I have read it's not an ideal powder for 147gr. -

Joe is Titegroup similar to Bullseye in your experience? From reading online I see they have a similar burn rate. I just bought 500 147gr bullets from Rainier to load up. I was planning to use up the 124gr bullets I have with the Bullseye but may try the 147gr at the next match. I'm looking for any excuses other than my skill for my shooting haha. -
I haven't seen any at my house. I'm sure there are some but they haven't caught my attention. May be that the wasps are just keeping my attention.

Cutting a Plastic/Synthetic Stock
maroonandwhite replied to shotgunshooter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I contemplated doing this before on a cheap Maverick 88 but ended up buying a shorter stock. From everything I read you want to make sure to tape the area you will cut with painters tape. Supposedly it prevents the edges from cracking when you cut. I'd use a new/sharp hacksaw blade and take your time. You'll have to it afterwards so you'll need some progesively finer grit sandpaper. You'll also have to make sure the screw holes for the butt plate/pad are deeo enough. Some if not most stocks taper down as you get closer to the receiver so the pad may not fit perfectly after the cut. I would guess it's a tough job to make it look right but I'm not familiar with the Nova's. You could always just use a slip over buttpad after cutting and put some type of cover plate that is cut to fit on the end of the stock.
