  1. Not entirely true. If I get a FTF and I have to manually eject the round then I will have a problem.
  2. Just an update. went to the range last night and it cycled every ammo I put in it when fired. Everything works flawlessly but it is still jamming that ammo when I try to eject an unfired round. I know everyone suggest finding the ammo that will cycle reliably but in your opinion is this something that could be fixed by a smith? I am the type of person that like to fix "broke" things. I know this isn't really broke but I just want it to be fixed.
  3. Unless you marry a gun lover!!
  4. Just spoke with Taurus customer service and they said they had not heard of this problem before but I didn't really expect them to say otherwise. Could it be something I am doing wrong? I appreciate dralarm's advice but I am still puzzled that through all my internet searching no one else with this gun is having this problem. Thanks
  5. I was afraid of that. What's weird is that I see alot of people online using it with their 738. I guess it will eject when firing but not when manually racking the slide. Also I will add it is not every time but about 40% of the time. Any recommendations on shorter ammo?
  6. I had a thread earlier about my Taurus 738 but I figured one in the gunsmithing section may get more response and I have an exact question now. We put about 50 rounds of practice ammo through it tonight with no problems. The problem I am having is with ejecting an unfired round from the chamber. I am using Hornady critical defense rounds when it does this. I can load up an entire magazine with practice FMJ ammo and manually eject each one with no problems. When I attempt this with the Hornady the cartridge will not clear the barrel or slide as far as I can tell and will jam. This doesn't occur when shooting but is a pain if I want to load other ammo in the gun. The Hornady ammo is a hair longer than the FMJ's so I am sure that is the major cause. Also I am forcefully trying to eject the round by pulling the slide all the way back as hard as possible. Any suggestions to remedy this? I just don't see how firing more rounds to break it in will fix this certain problem.
  7. I saw a thread on taurus armed where a guy remedied that by rounding off one side of his extractor. I am having the opposite issue with that while hand racking the slide. Again it's hard to say anything with a brand new, unfired gun.
  8. Also to clarify I won't let my wife carry an unreliable weapon. I should have plenty of time to find out if this one will be ok before she gets the permit.
  9. Again I am basing my experience on a new unfired weapon but I did notice it was a little hard to chamber a round. Hopefully after shooting a few hundred rounds and possibly getting a gunsmith to polish it up it will be alot smoother. I did do a little research and saw that people were having mixed problems with them. Alot of people also said a competent gunsmith could make it work as smooth as butter so we shall see. If not we will just have to try something else. For the price I won't be too upset. I am just happy she is finally interested in carrying. Thanks!
  10. Thanks I will try that. She went with me and picked the one that fit her hand best. She ideally wanted a revolver but she decided that the small size of this would make her more likely to carry it everywhere. She has shot an LCP before so she knows how the recoil will feel on this small of a gun.
  11. Just picked up a Taurus 738 TCP last night for the wife to carry when she gets her permit. Can anyone chime in with experiences on this gun? I haven't shot it yet and know it will take a couple hundred rounds to break it in but it jammed up on me this morning while showing her how to cycle rounds through it manually. Maybe I wasn't racking it hard enough?? I usually buy used so I am wondering if this this normal with a brand new handgun? Thanks
  12. Been wondering this myself. They don't give much info on there site. Hopefully someone knows.
  13. They did have tuckable setups but none like this design that I saw.
  14. Bronco the answers don't get much better than that! Thanks I hadn't thought of using kydex. I will have to research that and see how tough it is to form. It looks like he didn't have much trouble.
  15. I never have felt comfortable carrying OWB since I have a slender frame. It's just too hard to conceal. I bought this holster. Nothing too fancy but if I decide I like carrying this gun I will probably order a better more secure fitting holster. I have always had good luck with this type of holster though. I believe don hume makes pretty much the same holster but they were back ordered for 4 months. These guys impressed me by saying they could have any holster for any gun ready in about a week.
  16. I have always carried a smaller subcompact auto and have recently acquired a larger .357 revolver(Ruger security six). I am wondering if anyone else has ever or currently does carry a larger revolver as there EDC. I carried mine yesterday and the weight did not bother me but the shape of the gun was a problem with the cheap nylon holster I got with it. I have a good leather one coming so that should solve the problem.
  17. Just bought an IWB holster today and am thinking about trying to convert it to a tuckable setup. It is one of the don hume one clip IWB deals. Has anyone ever tried anything like this? I just can't think of a way to fasten a clip to it without messing it up. Thanks
  18. Yeah it is def a larger gun than my PF9 haha. I have been wanting something bigger and this fits the bill. I am carrying it today and the weight and conceal-ability is not a problem but rather the cheap nylon holster is allowing cylinder to rub me. I just order this holster from theholsterstore.com. Don Hume has an identical one but they were back ordered for 4 months. These guys said I would have it by next Friday. It's not exactly what I was looking for but it will definitely be more comfortable and get me by until I can spend the dough on a nicer one. thanks!
  19. I just picked up a Ruger Security Six 4" barrell and am interested in getting an IWB holster for it. I've never carried anything this big IWB before so any advice is appreciated. I don't have a clue where to begin for a holster but I didn't see either kholster or crossbreed selling one.
  20. Thanks man. I'm familiar with him. I think I bought a dash kit or something from him. I usually do my own stuff (we see how that turned out haha) but thanks anyways!
  21. Just to clarify this is not an engine noise hiss that whines when I accelerate or anything. It can be heard when the vehicle is off. I quieted it down by turning my amp gains all the way down and I think changing the level on the LOC is going to correct the problem. I am mainly wondering now the best process to set these gains (Murgatroy pretty much answered it I hope). Thanks!!
  22. @ zapfbroad. I am running 75w rms to each door component and 100w rms to my 8" sub. All at 4 ohms and matched with the speakers ratings. 4 Gauge wire from battery to a dist. block and 8 gauge to each amp from there.
