  1. Thanks for all the advice. I think I did well on the test. We will see! Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
  2. So I go today for the second round of testing. I am not sure the department uses the "Criticall" software for testing but I suspect they do. Can anyone offer any information as to what to expect? I am confident that I won't have any trouble but it never hurts to have an edge.
  3. I second caster. I carried a security six IWB for a while but the weight became too much for me in the heat. It was a 6" model if I recall.
  4. Just got the same email. So did my boss. I guess everyone who sent an email will be getting this blanket email.

  6. Your letter was a lot longer than his... That was a very well written letter and definitely (IMO) deserved a little more response than this. At least we know they are looking at some of the emails.
  7. Welcome!
  8. I just can't bring myself to give them money since I know there stance on it. I know I probably give my money to plenty of other establishments who have opposing views or interests but hey you have to be passionate about something. It's kind of funny but I watched Tombstone last night for the millionth time and it never dawned on me that the earp's did the same thing to that town. "I'm not saying you can't own a gun. I'm not saying you can't carry a gun. You just can't carry a gun in town!"
  9. False alarm He just didn't see the sign.
  10. Cool that's what I was hoping. Sportsman's warehouse has the Goldtip traditionals with feathers for all of the weight bows so I can leave them long and practice form with the wife's lighter bow.
  11. I won't start a new thread for this question so hopefully someone already here knows. There are conlficting opinions on the web (imagine that) about cutting down arrow or shooting full length. I went to Bass Pro last night to get some arrows for my 45# recurve and my wife's 30#. He reccomended I get a .300 spline and leave it full length and she get a .500 full length. He did not measure draw length or what weight we were pulling to check with a chart or anything. Does "close enough" apply to this or should I go elsewhere and get someone to measure everything. I am leaning towards the latter.
  12. I just hope it is true and he didn't just miss the sign. We shall see!
  13. Well good news! (Maybe) My boss just informed me that the sign had been taken down at the Malco in Collierville. I am going to go tonight and double check though.
  14. ^^ That's definitely true. I had my compound set at 70# before I sold it yet 50# in a recurve was rough. From what I have read there isn't really a "correct" way to shoot a recurve. Some folks just pull it back and let it go while others pull to a standard anchor point on the chin, have the string touching there nose, etc.
  15. Archery forums.com or something along those lines seemed to have a lot of info. I second finding a GOOD archery shop and trying a few on. I went to the store a tried out the Samick Sage before ordering but if you want into recurve it seems to be about the best deal going for a new bow. In general you will want to start out with a light weight to get your form down if you have never shot before. I got my wife a 30# and myself a 45#. I pulled a 50# in the store and it was challenging to try to hold back with correct form.
  16. I hate the huggers! I run from them when I see them coming. I have done pretty good to let everyone know that I am not a hugger though.
  17. Hopefully it will be an outdoor hobby we can FINALLY do together and both enjoy it.
  18. Funny you should say that. That's where my wife got the idea. If she ends up shooting like that I told her she could quit her job and shoot professionally.
  19. I think they actually get theirs from Lancaster archery. Not downing twig at all as they have had great customer service so far. I was going to order from 3 Rivers but they were out of stock, They say these bows are selling like hotcakes.
  20. Samick Sage! Only $150 online setup from Twig Archery!! Then you have to buy about $300 worth of arrows, target, glove, wrist guard, broadheads if hunting.
  21. Did anyone get a reply or have an update on this? I haven't been back by to check lately.
  22. Yeah the dealer is supposed to install the arrow nock ring thingy ( I know what it's called but had a brain fart). From what I could tell a compound is much more forgiving of bad form.
  23. The wife and I just ordered a pair of re curve bows because she is interested in getting into archery. I have always shot a compound and must say the re curve humbles me a bit in the store. I haven't received the yet and have only shot maybe ten arrows on one in the store but I must say it was exciting. The feel of it all was much more involved than a compound and I was hooked. Does anyone on here shoot a recurve and have any advice to offer up to a new shooter? If you are curious we both ordered the Samick Sage bow. Her's at 30 lbs mine at 45.
  24. Wow. Doesn't get handled any better than that! +1 to the officer for not taking the bait. -1 for the guy doing the video. Clearly bating IMO. Not to derail but I just want to add I had a nice encounter (not so much) with the local law last night. I have been experimenting with open carry and the wife and I went to the local small town diner. She was really nervous about me OC'ing due to the reactions she thought we might get. When we pulled in I saw the police car and didn't really know what to expect. As we walked in police officer noticed my weapon right off the bat, kind of "analyzed" me, and said "Hi, how ya doing?" and that was it. Just really wanted to give a thumbs up for officers out there who are good at what they do.
  25. Yeah that's the only thing I was worried about. I am not using the lock hole at all. I just happened to get a good deal on it and so far it is fitting my experimental needs. When fully seated the trigger is below the hole but I may sew something over it to be safe. If I do decide that I may OC more often I will probably pick out another one that suits me better. Maybe something riding a little lower.
