1. Wheww! Don't say stuff like that!
2. Yeah I am gonna have to get a good camera and quit using the iPhone. It really does look great in person. Pine needle was the only thing handy and not already on the ground and clean so that was my only option. I debated using a matte clear coat but decided it would be easier to touch up without it on there.
3. Yeah I have yet to have a complete civilized conversation with any antis, liberals, democrats, etc. It always ends up with them playing the blame game. Whatever happened to personal responsibility. I have comfort in knowing those that DO take personal responsibility for there actions as well as making sure they themselves and their family are protected will be the ones surviving and thriving if the stuff hits the fan.
4. As the title said let me know what you think. This is my Remington 597. The camo stock was faded and just didn't look good. Cheap gun so I said what the heck. I sanded the stock with 400 grit and then cleaned it with alcohol. I used the rustoleum brand camo paint and pine needles for the pattern. The pictures don't really accurately portray the colors but it is somewhere in the middle of the two. I couldn't get good light anywhere in the house. Oh and Zeke (my dog) says hi. He photo-bombed the one pic.
5. Great to hear! Now if the writers would quit using the term "packing heat" at all the wrong times.....
6.   *Magazine...couldn't resist. :pleased:
7. One more congrats! Now grow the beard back!
8. That's what I am thinking but all I have is a 12 gauge. I figure with a 4x scope on the .22 I can get a good shot. If not some #5 shots will handle them. I have a craving for some squirrel gravy.
9. A Red dot on a .22lr would be a mean squirrel gun.
10. Yeah good point. I already have the weaver base and rings so I will just use them. Just didn't know if there was some functional advantage other than being a little lower to the barrel.
11. I am mounting a small fixed power scope on one of my .22lr rifles. I have the option to use the small tip off style rings without the factory weaver base or install the base and use weaver rings. Is there any advantage or disadvantage of either of these mounts?
12. I feel like Ralphie everyday checking the mail for his "Secret Decoder Ring".
13. As the title states I am getting ready to pain my old camo 597 stock. I am wanting to go with either a dull gray or desert tan color. I have never done this before and short of sanding it down and hitting it with Krylon I don't know where to begin. There are so many different methods on the web I thought I'd ask the folks I know. I am looking for the easiest method with the best results (I know the two don't mix). Thanks!
14. Yeah just discovered the rail is the weaver #82 that usually ships from H&R on the rifles. I think I am just going to get the wife to pick up a set of the Weaver quad locks (aluminum) and try them out.
15. As I mentioned in another thread I just picked up a 45-70 Handi-Rifle. I was planning on using open sights on it but have changed my mind and decided to use a Leupold FXII 6x36 on it. It already has what I assume is an aluminum (magnet won't stick to it) base. My question is do I really need a steel base and rings for a 45-70 round? I don't have much experience with the round but some on the web say aluminum rings won't hold up to the recoil. I will be using the current base and weaver quad locks if I go with aluminum. Thanks.
16. An 870 is a pretty easy gun to sell or trade too so you COULD always get rid of one of them. I regret ever getting rid of mine.
17. If you hunt you could use one 870 as a hunting gun and convert the other to a home defense gun. I mean you will already have $50 towards an extended tube. I guess it depends on how much you will use the HK vs the shotguns though.
18. I'm on board for this. I just bought a 45-70 with the intention of using it in MS during muzzle loader and possibly using it during regular season in TN.
19. Never heard that one before.
20. Something to make a really awesome knife with???
21. I also am not sure what would cause that other than a leak. I have a cheacp Vick's brand from walmart that I use all winter. I will normally set it on a dresser with a large towel underneath it. It sounds like yours may not be putting out a really fine mist and is collecting more in the immediate area and not really getting around the whole room.
22. I just traded for a New England/H&R Handi-Rifle in 45-70. The gun came with the scope rail installed as well as the front sight. The rear sight had been removed and had tap covers or whatever you call them (screws) installed. I am looking to replace the rear sight with either the original or something adjustable for elevation and possibly windage but I am not familiar with different types of rifle sights. Also the manual shows about 5 different part numbers that all have some type of sight type. If anyone own one of these please help me shed some light on this. Thanks!
23. My favorite show on TV now! I'm about 1 month in to my Duck Dynasty beard. I have vowed to be a guest on the show one day but I doubt it will ever happen without a tribute beard.
24.
Yeah, I'd say that's pretty close to the truth. My wife got on to me so I just started peeing in the shower.
25. That ain't right!
