  1. I know Joe and Dan very well. They are all set up and doing good. They've actually got a pretty good inventory of guns, holsters, clothes, etc. now. Their shop is located a couple blocks off the square in Winchester. It's angled across the street from the Food Lion.
  2. Yea, welcome. I'm just down the road a few minutes in Winchester.
  3. Well, here's a little personal info. I work at a rock crushing company doing quality control work for several locations. In my spare time I'm a reserve Sheriff's Deputy. I have a wonderfull wife that sells real estate. I have 2 children, 1 son that's 10 and 1 daughter that's 2. I'm in the process of building a home with a 250 yard shooting range in the back yard. I enjoy shooting anything that goes bang, boom or pop. I like to shoot IDPA, but don't have the time to do it regularly. I've got some hunting rifles and shotguns, 2 Springfield XD .40s (1 ported 4" service model and 1 sub-compact 3"), a 16" stag AR with free floated quad rail, vertical grip, and an EoTech and a Beretta 1201FP shotgun with a surefire lighted foregrip on it. I hope I don't bother y'all too much. This is a great forum so far and maybe when it warms up a bunch of us can go shooting together.
  4. Viola Valley is the name of it. It's open 365 days a year from sun up till sun down. It's run by a guy named Ralph. I don't have any contact info, but if you ask around any local gun shop in McMinnville, they'd probably know about him.
  5. There's one in Viola and another one in Manchester at Mid TN Shooters. I'll do some searching around and get the name of the one in Viola for you.

    Glock vs XD

A friend of mine owns a gun shop here in Winchester and he charges $25 total for FFL transfers. If you're close, it wouldn't be that bad, but from Nashville you'd probably spend $25 or more in gas just to get here and back.
  7. That looks like it would work. Like I said earlier, it might be easier on you if you freeze your slide the night before. The metal contracts a minute amount when it gets cold and might be easier to push your sights. I know that it worked with mine after the freeze method and with it room temperature they wouldn't budge with a sight pusher. The guy that I bought my Sub-Compact off of had night sights on it and took them off before he sold it and put the stock sights back on and they weren't straight. My Service is the one that I sent to AJames and had the TFOs installed.
  8. So, how long as this forum been public?? 9 or 10 days You've got a good thing going here guys. Great Job.
  9. I always carry at least one spare magazine with me. Depending on dress and what I'm carrying, I'll either carry a double mag carrier or slip one magazine in my front pocket.
  10. I've been hit with Freeze +P and it isn't any fun. We had to stand and get sprayed by our instructor with eyes open and then walk foreward and hit a bag. The burning went away about a half hour later and the redness was gone in a couple hours. Some of the other officers didn't take it as well as I did and were still complaining an hour later about the burning. One gentleman in particular still had his eyes swolen the next day. All in all, a good OC spray is invalueable to someone who can't carry a gun everywhere or to someone who just doesn't want to carry a gun.
  11. I have a Stag 16 Model 2 flat top. I have added a single point sling mount, Midwest Industries Full Float rail, vertical grip, and an EoTech.
  12. I had AJames do my sights on my Service XD. I bought the sights from him and he installed them for free. Took about a week or so and they're dead on. I've also heard of horror stories from other people about him, but I had nothing but good service.
  13. CRKT My Tighe assisted open
  14. Yep, XD sights are in the dovetails REALLY TIGHT. A friend of mine moved the sights on my sub-compact and he thought that he was going to break his sight pusher. Another trick that helps is to put the slide in the freezer overnight and then they will push a little easier the next morning. I have Tru-Glo TFOs on my service XD and like them.
  15. That's where I occasoinally shoot IDPA. The people that run the place are great. Be carefull the first time you go there, you'll drive right by it unless you look for Terry Walden's gun shop. The range is located behind the gunsmithing shop in the woods.
  16. I also have a Comp-Tac CTAC for my XD .40 Service. It conceals real well and is pretty comfortable. I got a Sub-Compact XD and it fits that same holster just fine and I can conceal it under just a T-shirt. I've also got a Yakui (sp?) slide holster that I sometimes carry them in, but prefer the CTAC.
  17. I have my gun with me at all times when away from home. At home I don't carry it on me, but it's close enough to get to.
  18. I carry condition one. A gun without one in the pipe is like carrying a rock on your side.
  19. I occasionally shoot IDPA in Manchester, though I haven't been in a few months. I know, I'm a slacker, but I'm building a range at my house that's under construction.
  20. Well, I just found out about this site. Looks good. I'll probably pester y'all like I do everywhere else. Nothing like a good halfway local place.
