Music City Tactical Shooters - IDPA classifier 02/18/2012
cslafrain replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
It was a very fun day. 1 mental mistake and a fumbled reload kept me out of master - oh well. I have to hit the dry fire hard again and get used to the skinny mags. Thanks to MCTS for putting on the match and for the many shooters that decided to take the risk and come out under uncertain weather conditions. This is a great sport with many great people - no better in the world IMHO. -

cslafrain replied to AH1356's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Wish I could. I have my complete setup for single stack with 1 exception - my single stack pistol!!!!! Been waiting on it since October but got word today that it is on its way back from the plater - so it should be long now. Great looking stages. I will definitely be there in March. I might even give Lim10 a try. Thanks for the info -

cslafrain replied to gsbell's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Great match today. Big thanks to all the people who helped put it on. Tanked stage 3 a little but had a good day. I appreciate the quick turnaround on the scores. My daughter ended up taking the gold on the balance beam and got a few other medals to boot in her gymnastics competition in Memphis today. -

Great Shooting Greg. Wish I could have been there but I am still getting my old house ready to go on the market. It should be ready in a couple of weeks in time for it to get cold and limit my shooting. Thanks for taking the Match Director role. Let me know if there is any way I can help. -

Music City Tactical Shooters - IDPA Match June 18, 2011
cslafrain replied to Fyrguy's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Guys we couldn't have all these great matches without everyone. It takes a dedicated staff, members, safety officers, and shooters. However, my special thanks go out to all of the new shooters and especially juniors as they are the future of our great sport. The MCTS is a great place to enjoy the company of people that are passionate about the sport and camaraderie of the shooting community. God Bless and Happy Fathers Day!! -

We will be having a match this Sunday at 2pm. 5 courses of fire. We welcome you anytime. The normal schedule is the 2nd Sunday @ 2pm and the 4th Saturday at 9am. I will also be at the MSSA range on Saturday for their match.

Hopefully it will get up to the 54 degrees it says. I hope everyone enjoys the challenges from these stages. Some are compiled from the varous matches that I have attended, others I will use concepts from those experiences and piece them together. It is our objective to challenge every part of your shooting skills. That is how we get better and have fun doing it!! See you all on Saturday. Might have to wear the Pink Snoopy shirt from CK1.

Tad, I am using the Wolff variables with an aluminum shock buff from dawson. They were recommended by Bob Londigren from Brazos. The plastic ones wear out to easy but the aluminum acts like a dead blow hammer to cushion the contact you get with lower poundage recoil springs. The nosing down could also be caused from an extractor that is set too tight. An aftec extractor is considered must have equipment on every 1911/2011 I have built. On the detent, Brownells actually makes a long drill bit made to run thru the plunger tube. 1.155 actually seems a little long. Even with my Eagle I only run 1.14, but I always put an upward bend in the last coil of the spring to put some upward pressure on the nose of the follower. Come out and we can throw my slide on yours to see if it helps. It she be back from Freedom any day now. I was at the range yesterday doing some drills with the M&P and decided to try the fast drill agan. No concealment was 4.18 and with was 4.37. The concealment draw doesn't feel that much slower but the reload does. Looks like I have to work on that. I need to change basepads on the M&P - those long pads just don't feel right. They are my only complaint about the M&P.
