1. *wipes sweat off of brow in relief*
2. I started reloading .308 and I trim every case. I want to cast and reload for my 9mm but I have a huge bucket of about 2500 9mm cases staring at me and the thought of trimming all of those cases terrifies me.
3. Sent 20 emails to 20 different Senators who are on the fence (according to the NRA).
4. I thought the vote wasn't until Monday?
5. It's really more to be a deterrent so that clients don't right click and download pics to print instead of ordering from her.
6. ...of me And if you're curious, she does shoot (pictures) professionally and is glad to take pics of people shooting.
7. Got an appointment and showed up today. Got signed off and I'll be turning in my paperwork as soon as I can. Then, the wait...
8. Cool! Ordered some the 25th of December and some more the 5th of January. I hope they come soon.
9. Called today to try and set up an appointment. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. More updates as I proceed.
10. Dropped the $$$ for a silencer and I have to get the form signed by the Sheriff and get fingerprints. I was wondering if anyone else in Roane County has been through this process and if it was difficult or not.
11. So I finally got some cartridges loaded and had good weather to try them out. I'd like some opinions on why the loads may have performed they way they did and how you would load going forward. The cartridge: .308 Winchester with 168 gr HPBT Sierra MatchKing bullets. Winchester primers with Accurate 2495 powder. All loaded on a single stage Lee press and all brass was tumbled, sized and trimmed to spec. All bullets were seated to 2.800 COL. The rifle: Remington 700 SPS Tactical with a Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3X10 scope on a 20MOA base with TPS rings. Shot prone with a Harris bipod on the front. The results: I shot the ammo that I usually use first for a control. Hornady 168 gr Z-Max (go ahead and laugh but they're match grade). The Circle in the middle is 1 MOA at 100 yards which is the distance that I shot. All strings of fire were 5 shots. Next was my first set of reloads but at minimum power, 40.1gr Next was 41 gr. 42 gr. 43 gr 44 gr. 45 gr. And one more string of Z-Max while the gun was hot. So, there it is. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Loved the "science experiment" aspect of the whole thing. I believe I'm hooked.
12. Took me long enough and a lot of searching for components but I finally loaded my first one. And then I loaded 30 more with various loads. The green tips are the Z-Max cartridges that I'll use as my control. Hopefully I can get a good day of weather to try them out.
13. Woot! Found both at a local shop that's on my way to work! Another member here PM'd me and asked me not to say where it was so out of respect for him I won't. Dolomite, thanks for the offer. Very generous of you.
14.   Where is this? I managed to find some powder. Paid through the nose for it. Still looking for primers.
15.
4895 works well in the 308.  check on line with powder valley.  they got good prices for primers/powder.  they don't beat david prices, but they are the next best thing.
Checked. They're pretty much out of everything.
16. For now. 9mm and .223 much later when the panic dies down.
17. I have a few in mind but the ones I want are all out of stock. I'm not sure about the ones I haven't researched but at this point, if someone tells me it'll work, I'll order it. I was looking at Hodgdon 4895 or something close to that.
18. Well, I have everything I need to reload my own ammo. I've done so much research on the subject that I've had several dreams about reloading. Bad news is I don't have any freaking POWDER OR PRIMERS!!! I swear to God everyone in the US must think that the end of the word is coming because everyone online is out of everything. I live close to Oak Ridge and I have no idea who sells the stuff locally. A search on this forum has revealed squat. I understand that people want to have supplies for themselves but there must be one guy out there with the ability to reload more cartridges than Winchester. I want to load about 50 rounds of .308 to get myself started. Where can I find supplies? I know David sells at gun shows but with my schedule I'm lucky to make it to one of those per year.
19. I've put about 3K rounds through mine and I can honestly say I've never had a FTE. I'd probably have that checked out.
20. Ok. Close enough. That's good because I don't go to that part of the mountain without a gun anyway. :leaving:
21. Since I think I'm within walking distance I should probably come. I have some steel targets I can bring if everyone is comfortable with that. Spots, you're talking about your place in OS right? That is right around my wife due date so I can't promise I'll be there.
22. Wait, where is this thing at?
23. Read today that S&W pulled out as well.
