    380

The slide locks back on the TCP from Taurus but not the LCP from Ruger.

    XDm Compact

I saw the same one that JohnnyFox mentioned at WD's yesterday, it was $679, I also looked at one at CCA but I can't remember the price for sure I was just too enamored with the gun to remember the price. I talked with the guys at South Clinton Pawn, they didn't have any in but thought when they did get one it would be in the low to mid 600's.

I like my LCP, goes with me everywhere in one of 4 holsters for any situation. I like the look and feel of the S&W Bodyguard .380 but the laser is pointless IMHO and the price increase versus the LCP is prohibitive for me. I also really like the SIG P238, that would be worth the $$$ to me but my LCP works just fine so....

    XDm Compact

I went over to CCA in Knox and took a look at the new XDm 3.8 Compact. I really liked what I saw, feels great in the hand, its a tough choice for me between that the XD Subcompact. Price was about equal to a new Kahr PM9.

    XDm Compact

I would really like this gun!
  9. I really would like a PM9 but I'm torn between that and an xdsc. 9 or the new xdm 3.8 compact that just came out. I know different sizes, conceability questions. Those are just top of the wish list right now.
  10. Got my HCP in the mail today! Total of 19 days including weekends and Thanksgiving.
  11. Oh jeez ok, that's that bad at all! I'm about as excited to get the HCP in the mail as I was when I was 12 and Christmas morning was hours away. No matter how quickly it gets here I'm going to be counting the minutes!
  12. I literally just walked out the door of the fingerprint place. Has anyone applied for their carry permit in the last several weeks? Any idea on turn around time?
  13. I just bought an LCP and took it to the range over the weekend. I shot one magazine of Feberal Premium 90gr Hyrdrashock Low Recoil (6 rounds). The second round failed to feed and the slide was stuck open. I started the "tap-rack-bang" sequence and with just the tap the round fed. I proceeded to shoot the last 5 rounds without issues as well as 200 rounds of cheap Winchester FMJ from Wal-Mart. No other issues. I still need to try some different JHP's but at roughly a $1.20 a round the Federal's are expensive to shoot a lot.

    New Toy

Thanks for the info. I've been considering a small 9mm for carry and I was thinking about this one.
  15. I agree with many of the previous posts... If you are going to be carrying it then I would go hammerless but if it is a range gun then having is nice so you can shoot in single action.
  16. I love the SP101 great looking gun! I can't wait to get one, I want the 3" barrel since I already have a SW 642 snubnose.

    New Ruger LCP

Thanks for checking that. The LCP is my first semi-auto, I have a S&W 642, so I don't have any experience with magazines. I first noticed it when I was comparing the Ruger I purchased to a Diamondback .380 which had no play whatsoever when it was inserted. Thanks again, I can't wait to get out and shoot it!

    New Ruger LCP

I just bought my new Ruger LCP from Bill's Outpost, great guys over there. Love the looks and feel of the little gun but I noticed that the magazine moves around a lot. I have not shot it yet but I'm worried that this is not supposed to be this way. It "jiggles" a ton! Has anyone else experienced this?

    bodyguard 380

I saw one on Thursday at WD Sporting Goods on Alcoa HWY for around $550ish give or take a few bucks. I know what the MSRP lists them for but still just like the LCP, the dealers are charging WAY TOO much for these guns right now. But that is just my humble opinion. The guys at WD are all great though, and they have a big selection.
  20. Thank you very much for all the responses, this has been very informative! I love learning the history behind the different calibers, weapons and their uses.
  21. I'm fairly new to handguns and have been trying to research and learn as much as possible. So I asked myself, "does someone make a .38 special semi-auto?" Couldn't find any but I found the .38 super. What is the difference between the .38 special and .38 super, in terms I can understand and why is there not a semi-auto in .38 special? Not saying one should be made, just wondering why not? Just a few questions from a newbie.

    HCP classes Knoxville

I took my class at Hickory Creek as well. Red was very entertaining, great instructor and very knowledgeable. The range is hard to get to but its one of the least expensive courses which always helps. Highly recommended!!
  23. Thank everybody I have really enjoyed the gun so far. Looking to add to the collection in the near future... Ruger LCP, Ruger Sp101 .357 (3 in barrel), Kahr PM9 and Glock 26. Not all at one time, but over the next year or so.
  24. Thanks, I've been shooting as much as I can so I can be proficient with it. I knew I would get some smack for the the ND avatar but that's my team, still have to love 'em even when they suck.
  25. I'm fairly new to TN, coming up on two years in the Knoxville area. Moved here after grad school. Just bought my first handgun, S&W 642 .38 Special about a month ago, also bought the girlfriend the same but with the pink grips she just had to have. I have totally caught the bug too, my list of "next gun" is a mile long now. I have learned a ton from this forum!!! Put almost 300 rounds through the little workhorse already. I have already taken a CCW class, last Saturday, and I'm applying for my permit this afternoon.
