  1. AR's are up about $150 or so on GunBroker over the past 2-3 days.   I'd say wait it out a month or two -- But, I'm wouldn't hold my breath.
  2. That helps Robert!    Quite a few companies will ship via freight a safe right to ya!  I'll look in to the two safes you have listed, along with a couple others I'm thinking about!
  3. Absolutely THE best article to date!  Some stunning facts, and truth's regarding today's mental illness epidemic and associated gun violence due to mental illness.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/16/i-am-adam-lanzas-mother-mental-illness-conversation_n_2311009.html   http://gawker.com/5968818/i-am-adam-lanzas-mother
  4. Robert ...   I wouldn't look at the brand so much as the actual materials and thickness of the materials being used.   At the end of the day, a safe is a big steel box -- brand aside -- they are the same thing.   I went with a Fort Knox -- the biggest one they make.  I'd go with the biggest, thickest safe you can afford.  I went with the Fort Knox because it came with a redundant lock (both electronic & manual)   What's your budget like if you don't mind me asking?  I researched for a good 2-3 months prior to going with what I went with and can certainly help :)
  5. LOL ....   At first, I thought these people bought AR's simply to take them off the street.  Then read in to it a bit more, and you're right Fingersoup ... Its a mockery website! :)   Had me LOLing!
  6. I'm a small business owner and would volunteer 1 day during the week to provide such a service to our local school district :)  My son will be starting there in about 4 years, but would start ASAP.   I know of a couple others that likely would as well.
  7. It's always refreshing to read stories like this! Sent at lightning speed from my unholstered iPhone5
  8.   My wife is much the same way ... Took her 3-4 months to fully get up to snuff with LR, but she absolutely loves it.  She's been researching PS for the past couple of weeks, and she's very intimidated by it, but I think after she actually has the software and can start playing/learning/fiddling with it, she'll learn to love it like she does LR :)
  9.   +1   They have mini pepper spray cans that fit on key chains.   These are perfect for this scenario since you likely have your key's out when walking to your vehicle!
  10. Absolutely amazing!  My wife is in to photography.  Got her PS CS6 for Christmas!  She's been using Lightroom only for the past year!    I think landscape photo's blown up & put on canvas are just amazing!  I'd love a house full of them! :)
  11. Gun Free zones normally happen to be areas with many people associated with those areas.   Malls, Schools, Movie Theater's, etc... hold and have lots of people.  I don't think these gun free zone's were targeted because they were gun free, but moreso, because they had lots of people.   They just happened to be gun free ...   But, I'm just speculating ... I can't tell you what the thoughts of these gunmen were.
  12.   I don't think the problem in and of itself is video games, but its hard to argue that video games don't desensitize today's youth to violence.   I think the issue lies in parenting these days.  Too many parents use video games (violent or otherwise) to "babysit" their kids for them.  Instead of telling their kids to get out of the house or to spend time with their kids doing activities, they'd rather their kids just keep themselves entertained.
  13. In relation to this story, an ex NYPD officer/detective was on Fox News this morning saying the same thing!  I figured, logic from the NYPD would certainly not be pro gun!   He was stating teachers need to be armed & trained in all of our schools and we need to do away with gun free zones entirely!   I couldn't agree more!
  14. I'd love to take a class like this! Sent at lightning speed from my unholstered iPhone5
  15.   I thought I may have been the only one.  I watched it live, and he was pretending to wipe back tears but his eye's weren't even watery.  You can tell by looking at someone's eye's if they are crying or had just cried.  He kept reaching to wipe away tears, but there was little to no emotion in his face.   I thought it odd, and figured perhaps he just cries differently.  :ugh:
  16. In wake of Today's tragedy:   http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2012/12/14/connecticut-school-shooting-gun-control/1770345/
  17.   I wouldn't call them crackpot theories.  Threads like this are posted on to try and understand or theorize why someone could do such a horrible thing.  Discussions on how he acquired the firearms, his background, etc... are all on the table.
  18.   It could go a couple ways ...   1)  It was the brothers rifle and he kept it at his mothers house.  Especially if he was still in school (college) perhaps?    2)  Mom could have bought/registered it but it was a gift for her 24 yr old son.  Kept at the mothers house   3)  Mom could have knowingly bought it for the 20 yr old which would be illegal   4)  It was indeed owned & operated by the mother   Could go any which way at this point ...   At the end of the day ... Responsible gun ownership means keeping them fully secure and knowing where they are 24/7/365.  Something as simple as a sturdy safe could have atleast deferred or limited the damage caused today.
  19.   Very nice!    Anyone else planning to gift firearms this Christmas?
  20.   Good call CZ, and I'd agree ...   Perhaps the rifle belonged to the perp's brother (24 yr old)
  21.   The latest report I saw -- Brother was in NJ, not at the scene.  Brother is fully co-operating, FB even reinstated his facebook page.  It was also being widely reported that both the Father and Brother had nothing to do with this.  Both seem to be giving authorities more info on the 20 year old and his mental health/status.   These firearms were legally owned/registered by the perp's mother.  Therefore, the son *Stole* them and used them.  He committed several felonies PRIOR to actually killing anyone.    We're back at the fact that these firearms weren't legally owned & operated by the perp.  They were stolen, just like thugs get ahold of stolen firearms on the street.
  22. Too only have 3 injured with 26+ dead...This was an execution style killing.   According to reports, 1 entire classroom is unaccounted for.     People like this make me sick.  I hope he enjoys the eternal hell he will be in for eternity in the firey pits of hell.
  23. Very interesting Oh Shoot!  Thanks!   Now, as far as minors -- Can they only be given long guns, or can they also be given handguns for sporting purposes?
  24. Normally 2 mags every time I'm at the range which ends up being about once a month.
