  1. 3 Star compact 9mms. The red gripped one is an aluminum framed BKM and the other two are all steel BMs. The red BKM is about 10z lighter than the steel ones and for some reason it is an easier gun to shoot well fast. My wife says that one is now hers. The silver frame is done by "chrome" Cera Kote, while the "pearl" handled one has original Star chrome showing through Cera Kote Blue Titanium. All three are SYA reliable. I am liking this Cera Kote cause it is durable and sheds gun dirt well. I am having a Mossberg 20ga. Cruiser being done in flat CeraKote black, another G17 being done in black slide and Flat Earth Brown frame and a G19 being done in black slide with Sniper Gray frame. I'll wait on painting my other Glocks. Gunrunner32 has used a combo of air dry and oven baked to meet my "notions" on color. I have a hankering to make some nice walnut Star BM grips for the black and silver Star.
  2. The latest iteration of my G17L: Digitally measured 3.75lb trigger pull -trigger job using 5lb connector by me, BoMor Sights, Cominolli Thumb safety installed by me, JP magwell, Cera Kote by gunrunner32 - color scheme by me. Last thing I am waiting for is a Ghost Rocket 3.5 connector to hand fit and eliminate as much overtravel as possible and may try to get the trigger nearer 2lbs - that is why the thumb safety - sort of.
  3. The frame and slide and small parts are CeraKoted, however the CeraKote on the frame is a type that is typically used to paint motorcycle exhaust pipes and is baked at 500 degrees. So far the other pistols that I have CeraKoted have worked well and with just a few hundred rounds look like new. This "chrome" CeraKote might be be even tougher.

    New toy....SR1911

Just returned from the range....1200 rounds....Flawless. That is good news.
  5. xring04, Great deal on a good gun. 5 mags, good tritium XZ sights and the holster too? You should go to church Sunday and ask foregiveness for being a thief, 'cause you "stole" that one;) Craig in Clarksville

    New toy....SR1911

I can't wait to read the range report.
  7. This is starting to get excessive again:
  8. I like to share my "misery" with folks who understand. I scored this near LNIB 4" MKIII 22/45 today for 150.00 OTD. I turned around and ordered a MKII (yes MKII rather than MKIII) Volquartsen trigger kit. My goal is 2.25 crisp lb with little creep or overtravel and no mag disconnect safety. I have done this before, but let a couple of good ones get away to friends.
  9. It would be fun to shoot it with a suppressor.
  10. If you can hold it will pretty much one-hole CCI AR15 bulk, just about like any Ruger MKII or III. The weight and balance with the red dot is good. I already have a guy chomping at the bit to trade me out of this rig. But first it needs a pre and over travel Volquartsen trigger just to see how nicely it will shoot with minimal trigger movement.
  11. I did some trading at TN Gun Country in Clarksville yesterday and got the pictured Ruger 22/45. It has rails, but no sights so I put on a spare Millet Red Dot 3-10 MOA with variable intensity. Grip slabs are removable and the barrel is threaded. I threw out the offending mag disconnect apparatus and MKIII hammer, replacing the sear, hammer with those from MKIIs from days gone by. I did a little work on the sear and hammer hooks, as well as replaced the plunger spring. Although it has a stock trigger (I'll replace that with a VQ pre and overtravel trigger) with no overtravel prevention it now has a nice 2.75lb trigger pull. I'll run it through its paces tomorrow at Montgomery County before taking it to the Viola Valley Shooting Range on Satruday. 12. watch out putting the charger action/barrel on a rifle stock. I'm pretty sure that makes it a Class III Short Barrelled Rifle (SBR) and can get you in very deep doo doo.
  13. As you can see here, having your pistol chromed well doesn't come cheap: Metaloy, Industries - Professional Gun Finishing - hard chrome, blue and polymer finish
  14. Check out now discontinued Harrington & Richardson's. You can often find these at gun shows for a reasonable price. Neat thing is that some of these are convertibles (.22lr/.22 mag) and are both single and double action in some cases. The several I have had were sturdy and fine plinkers. If I were going to go to someone to build me a pistol that cost some serious money I would go here and at least hear the man out: Karl Sokol Chestnut Mountian Sports Gunsmithing Services When I thought I need another 9mm 1911 this is the guy I found I liked. Why? He deals with much more than just a 1911, which I like. I like a gunsmith who does professional work on a variety of handgun systems.
  16. You can't get a blued carbon pistol turned into stainless, but you can get the gun refinished in many other finishes like: nickel, chrome, NP3, Failzero, etc. You can also get the gun bake "painted" using Gunkote or Cerakote and many others. You can also get the gun reblued, making it very similar to I would suspect its original finish. I would think there is a or some gunsmiths in the Memphis region who can help you. google "gunsmiths memphis." Even those smiths who do not refinish may recommend somone.
  17. I just want to try it out. I bought a 125.00 aftermarket trigger bar once. It did what it said it would, but I don't even know where it is now. I even got a CCF steel frame, Lone Wolf slide and Lone Wolf barrel once upon a time. I think that "glock" weighed near 50oz. I have no clue where those are now. Why not try the safety. It ain't like I haven't owned nearly 15 or 20 Glocks.
  18. If you google up Cominolli Glock Safety you will see threads pretty much like this on other firearm forums. The discussion usually degenerates into "he said, she said" sort of stuff and most posters adhere to the notion that a pistol should only be used as it came from the factory, then the discussion pits notions about 1911s and Glocks against each other. However, there are few folks who apparently use the Cominolli device and I have only seen one person who didn't like it. I am about ready to buy the jig and one safety and try this thing out. If I don't like it I can resell both, and enjoy a 3/32" slot in my frame. In the particular frame I am considering having the safety or not having it and having a slot won't make any difference in performance or aesthetics. If I like it I may put them in 4 of my 6 Glocks.
  19. Good pistol at a superb price.
  20. These are very recent pics of my mother in law's Savage given to her NIB on her wedding in 1954 day by her husband, a recently deceased WWII vet. I didn't look too closely at it other than it has not been fired much, and that is the hang tag that came with it. It's a .22LR/.410. I had a 24DL some years ago myself but someone wanted it worse than I did so I sold it. The beret is mine from a time long ago.
  21. After this thread has seemed to run its course I will assume no one in my area on this board has a Cominolli Safety for Glocks.
  22. I actually know a guy who shot himself in the butt with a Glock 17 reholstering it in his back pocket using a soft IWB holster. The bullet went thru 22" of his leg and came out behind his knee. Fortunately he was using a solid point in this, one of his 8 or 9 Glocks. He also has about 150 other handguns. The doc's at Vanderbilt, after about 1.5hrs work, told him that they see a lot of gunshots and that his was not too serious. That 115 JSP never hit a major artery, vein or bone. My buddy and his neighbor found the bullet lying on the bathroom floor. The bloody jeans he was wearing hang in the hallway so that he has to look at them several times a day to remind himself that he was stupid. Why was he using JSPs? He usually doesn't and the joke is if his house ever catches fire that the whole county will talk of it for decades. I had given him some particular JSPs to use for practice and he just happened to have them in this particular pistol. I've never seen a guy who had so many 1911s, DA revolvers, or single actions.
  23. GrantCunningham.com - Library I have the ATF on the shelf in the garage and ordered the grease. I think I am done with lube questions for the next decade.
  24. Brazil is a few miles south of Cairo. Good one!
  25. mikegideon, What does it say on the side of that 1911A1 lookin' pistol of yo'rn? Brazil-Imbel? Where is that.. must be near Cairo, ...Cairo, IL? Funny looking bluin' on the gun too. JMB mus' be jus' a spinnin'... Makes me get the shivvers, like a cold wind jus' blew over my soul. Craig
