Everlasting commitment my butt... I remember a few short weeks ago of someone hounding me to death about a Sig X-Five, then talked me out of two Sig 239s and the X-Five. Now no X-Five or 239s. All I see are run of the mill S&W plastic guns. Fickle.... What's next? FN, HK, Taurus?

I just had to shell out 9600.00 when i traded my car for another. I have two ARs, and a small bucket load of 30 rd magazines.... hmmmm.....

Is anyone keeping track and following the upward trends on various firearm related goods? What are AR mags actually going for? Glock mags, S&W M&P mags etc? One guns store I know of was and is holding a limit on sales to three boxes of any like type ammo. They had a 5 mag limit on PMAGS at $15.00 and change for the last couple of hundred they had. I heard one fella who got the last 3 at that store say he was going to sell them on Ebay. Maybe another interesting question would be what have you seen in price jumps through retailers? I would venture to guess that the wholesale distributors will announce a whole new pricing scheme after 1 Jan. I have heard rumors that some gun store owners threw out their business plans and recently sold at speculator prices. THat may have been a smart move as there appears to be few guns in the pipeline which make makes todays profit tomorrow's survival. Current pricing in some items has changed the gun buying landscape for me for sure. My income isn't going up so my gun purchasing power is being reduced dramatically. I sure hope there is a frenzied cost spike on used .22 pistols and rifles, I have a number of each I would like to sell at ridiculous prices. I could use some crazy money right now.

Save your money and buy a nice 280.00 Ruger 22/45. The AA conversions are little more than curios. I've had at least 5. I wouldn't buy another. Too light with mediocre accuracy and are fairly bullet specific.

No they are not some homebrew Bx25 taped together. RUger came out with a BX25x2, even though they are factory tied together you have to flip one to get to the other. I think I will get one more for funzies. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_11/386247_.html I had to laugh at the poster in the above thread who complained about how slow flipping the BX25x2 is. Jeez - what could this guy be up to that he needs tactical fast with a 10/22 or charger? I swear that some of our fellow gun enthusiasts take the fun clean out of gun.

Revolver S&W K38 Target Masterpiece http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Wesson_Model_14 9mm: Sig P210 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_P210 Previous poster's suggestion of a S&W 952 suggestion would be good too.

The DB9 is a beast to shoot, easily as brutal as a titanium J-frame .357. I have an early DB9, trigger reset failed. Sent it to the factory on a Weds got it back the following Mon and have never had a failure since. Accurate, nice trigger but harsh recoil with slow followups in a comparative sense to something like a Glock 19. I can put them all in a dinner plate as fast as I can pull the trigger at 5 yrds one-hand weak-hand and that is all I care about. Your mileage may vary if your are younger, stronger, faster, etc.

Concerning the LC9. If you put the Galloway Precision trigger bar and hammer mod it, as well as a dual 15lb recoil spring and a RTK trigger it becomes another machine altogether. Mine is the easiest small 9mm bullet launcher I have shot. With the aftermarket it is easier to shoot than a J-frame .38. Trigger pull is easily halved also. http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger-performance/lc9-performance-parts/

I think you all need to "man up" to the DB9! 11.7oz of fun and frolick.

I know a store in Clarksville open on Sundays that has a full compliment of OEM Glock hi cap mags including Glock fun sticks in both 9 and 40. Standard prices too. In fact I am going to pick up some Glock Korean made PW mags for G17 and G19.

The way I used to direct link photos to the posting no longer works for me so I attached a link in the previous post

No "CIA" orchestrated agenda, but newspapers are a business with no altruistic aim. However, in the search for advertisers, readership and money, the business demands sensationalism. Reporters, the good ones, write stories that they hope get published or they get let go. However, it is a business and not the "Good Ship Lolly Pop," and good folks get to look dumb all the time to sell a story, even if that was never the intent. I am just advising caution at all the giddiness to tell why guns are good. Brian, look up Mannheim and Albritten's study from the 80s. Positive and negative valence in news stories and numbers mean something in the aggregate. Writing a story about half a dozen "backwoods" Tennesseans will do nothing good towards the AWB debate, and could just add more fuel to the fire in terms of what folks in politically powerful areas think about 2nd Amendment advocates. The number of negative valence stories about guns is so huge right now that any story that is positive will be meaningless at best and may end up making some folks look bad. Want to write a story that is the antithesis of what is coming out on the airways in droves right now - find a bunch of rich leftwing folks from major population centers (think Electoral College) who are gun advocates. The only way to win the fight of public opinion is try and put a cap on all, both negative and positive, stories concerning guns and then slowly build up a large portfolio of positive valence stories. Right now the crush of negative stories is just too large for any milk toast factual or even positive spin story to mean anything. Anything short of saving the Obama kids or a stadium of football fans from bad guys with assault weapons by one or two well meaning concealed carry advocates is nearly meaningless.

Remember folks there is always an agenda. After Desert Storm I had the opportunity to take a break at the JFK Special Warfare Center where I worked on some Middle East issues which included my MA thesis that went something like: Using Media as a Tool to Develop American Foreign Policy in the Gulf Cooperation States. Apparently it wasn't too earth shattering or someone would have listened and maybe preempted Al Jazeera. I digress. During that time I was introduced to various sorts of "benign" media but spent a good deal of time looking at PSYOP. Remember, for news to be news it has to "new" or else it wouldn't be called news. Secondly, it has to have either a positive or negative edge or valence to grab readers and sell stuff. Media and more importantly newspapers, used to or may still be in certain circles the Fourth Estate. Sort of like a 4th branch of the government sometimes working in concert with and often times keeping the other three branches "honest." I'm referring to the executive, legislative and judicial. Newspapers are not owned by tie-dyed t-shirt wearing hippies from Haight-Ashbery. It may seem like it but the suits who own those well known media outlets know what grabs attention. It isn't a steady stream of facts which grabs the public's fancy. Money making media is owned by crafty folk in suits who know how to make a buck. To make a buck you need advertisers. Advertisers don't come unless readership is good. Mundane doesn't grab readers and mundane doesn't sell cars, soap, real estate, etc. I'm sure Brian is a good guy, I have friends who have been or are heavily involved in the media. Be careful though. I caution you about freely cavorting with the media. The one time I was frank, open and honest with media still comes back to haunt me from time to time. Don't rush too fast in an attempt to correct all the mis-information that is flying around the world right now. The monied urban plutocrats, both left and right, don't much care what folks in Tennessee have to say about guns and what we say won't make much difference right now. Best bet is to be on our best behavior, keep your powder dry and keep a few things out of view.

Dave Shooter, You don't need a lowly Kimber Classic "C" series to go along with that high tone Super America:) I've looked at a lot of threads on RFC and looked at many pics of SA's. Boy, they put some nice wood on those rifles over the years. My C Kimber Classic 82 alongside your Super America Kimber would be like an older walnut stocked 10/22 alongside my C Kimber 82. Send me a pm some time. If you are in Clarksville maybe we should chat sometime. I met a fella who likes to shoot .22s at 300 yards and I am trying to put something together that I can have fun with at that distance in .22LR land. The Kimber may be up to it but I have a couple of odd .22 projects that are ongoing you may find amusing. I would rather see if the Kimber can put a 50 yard group together. Craig

I received, as a Xmas gift, what looks to be an unfired (except for factory test) Kimber of America marked 82 .22lr stainless sporter barrel, SN C2451. Two dings on the right side of stock but otherwise pristine. No box or papers. Looks like no scope has been mounted. I believe this is the Classic series. But have no idea what this thing may be worth or when exactly it was made. I'm thinking 90s, after Kimber went under the first time, but really have no clue. I've been on rimfirecentral but haven't gotten anything. Hope my extra Tasco 4x rimfire and some Remington Goldens will make this my new pickup .22. Craig in Clarksville P.S. pardon my WalMart socks. I jacked up my computer and haven't divined how to properly crop and resize photos yet. And yes, that is another threaded 10/22 barrel poking in the pic at the top. Sniper instructor at 5th SF Gp did it for me, but I sold that rifle today and didn't want to give up that particular barrel.

I don't compete, just like to shoot what I am aiming at. This shot well when I acquired it from FIST but between he, Dolomite, and a couple of guys in Clarksville this budget gun has finally come together with a little tweaking. 1) Original Bushmaster HBAR from prior to the sale of Bushmaster to Freedom Group 2) Replaced the original A2 upper with a Cerro Forge no name A3 upper 3) Hogue Aluminum free float tube 4) ACE ARFX skeleton stock (have the A2 stock if necessary) 5) DNZ scope mount 6) Bushnell Elite 10X Tactical Mildot scope 7) Revels and JP trigger components 8) JP Silent Recoil Spring: http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPSCS-15 9) DPMS Muzzle Brake Levang Linear It was light recoiling before but I think now it will pretty much like a .22LR. Can't shoot it for a couple of week looks like.

Does or has anyone own(ed) the FNS-9? Anyone shot one?

I fell into a great deal the other day and have possession of a Sig 4.5" Trailside .22LR. These guns were discontinued as the 300 dollar Sig .22LR and are now sold as the 750 dollar Hammerli Xesse. Fully adjustable trigger, superb ergonomics, accuracy that supposedly is way beyond 300 bucks. I was put off 10 or so years ago by the bad press these pistols were getting because of a problem of cracking trigger guards. The issue in question was addressed on a number of fronts and has been corrected, as well as new trigger guards are available. So when I saw one available I jumped. The one I got had no box, one mag and was missing its barrel weight. I ordered a couple of mags and a new barrel weight from Larry's Guns. http://www.larrysguns.com/Products/Trailside-Barrel-Weight--412-barrel__XE-spc-1230070-LGI.aspx While you are looking at Larry's Guns take a look at "real" .22LR pistols: http://www.larrysguns.com/Departments/New-Pistols/FONT-SIZE3-COLORBLACKB--BenelliBFont.aspx http://www.larrysguns.com/Departments/New-Pistols/FONT-SIZE3-COLORBLACKB--HammerliBFont.aspx http://www.larrysguns.com/Departments/New-Pistols/FONT-SIZE3-COLORBLACKB--PardiniBFont.aspx http://www.larrysguns.com/Departments/New-Pistols/FONT-SIZE3-COLORBLACKB--TOZBFont.aspx

What model is the S&W revolver?
-
I guess the OEM transformer was one of this models shortcomings and someone obviously changed it out. As for the rest of it I will have to cogitate on whether or not I want to spend much money on this. I'm rebuilding an original Bushmaster Hbar right now to suit me and the optic will cost me my monthly gun money, plus my wife of 31 years wants a new stove. I need to do some more research on the radio. Craig

http://www.antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=139542 This is just one example of a discussion thread on one aspect of a chassis rebuild. It is a foreign language to me.

I've got the schematics and I am pretty sure I can get the tubes. Maybe I should just replace the tubes for starters and go from there.
