You mean like these rifles I used to have? Burris Scout scope worked just fine.

Dura Coat vs Cera Coat....others
graycrait replied to chipperi's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I have had a number of guns Cerakoted by gunrunner32 also. I have also used flat black engine paint in rattle cans and it works pretty well. Really cheap to touch up:) Just make sure you give each coat time to dry and then let it cure well. I have also used Brownells Gun Kote and it works OK. -
I can't believe I didn't get a Trailside when you could find them NIB in stores for 300.00 and change. They had a small easily correctible issue with trigger guards cracking on a few which went over the internet like Henny Penny - and I fell for it back then too. So passed on those Trailsides being sold in the earlier 2000s. The Trailside is now solely marketed by Hammerli as the Xesse and has a neater grip, but is "essentially the same," going now for 750.00. The thing I really like about the Trailside is the wonderful trigger and the "oh so low" bore axis. It shoots like you are pointing your finger. As for the HS looking like a Woodsman: I would venture to say that the any Woodsman, HS - any model, Challengers (I, II, & III) and Buckmarks are essentially the same basic design.

Boy, I sure had a pile at one time. Now I am down to 3 22 semi auto pistols. Top is Ruger MKIII carved and butchered with Volquartsen innards and a C-More with a nice 2.75lb trigger break. Middle is High Standard Dura Matic M100 6" Bottom is 4.5" SIg Trailside with steel barrel weight

You have to send Galloway your trigger bar and hammer. They have videos on how to disassemble the pistol.

Where is there a MilLeo dealer in Mid Ten?22

great trade. you can get parts kits and upgrades here: http://www.ewkarms.com/zen8/ contact TGO'r plinker4life and ask him about his DW. The key thing about DWs is that their lock time is a bit quicker than the other revolvers and the longer barrelled ones were used in silhoutte shooting. If you are looking for shorter barrels contact EWK. However, when he does have shrouds they are heavy but add a lot of fun in enabling you to take some long comfortable one-handed shots with .357. You can generally find parts on gunbroker and Numrich. The Dan Wesson forum isn't the most hopping place but it has good info.

Gothegoods I'm not a real bright guy, but repairing pistols has become one of those things I am reasonably adept at because of problems just like you mentioned. I'm not shipping or paying someone anymore for parts replacement. I can't make or design parts but I figure if some dude or dudettte working on an assembly line can put the thing together so can I. The CZ is a pretty simple gun to work on with the only issue is those roll pins you have to knock out without marring the frame. Harbor Freight has roll pin punches that will work and are cheap. If I were you I would get my gun back and talk to Plinker4life. You might as well go the whole Monty if you are going to repair it now rather than simply replace with stock parts. You could have sent it back to Angus Hobdell or Matthew Mink at CZ but what fun is that? If you are close to Clarksville I could take a look at the CZ. I've replaced triggers on 3 or 4, well before Cajun Gunworks came out with the Single Action conversion kits. In fact just for the fun of it if you buy the parts for a SA conversion I would put them just for the fun of it. Another option and I am saying this with a grin on my face, "you could trade your "broke" gun for one of mine that work. Only I don't have any CZ's."

Seeing a LC9 in the classifieds made me want to make sure that those who liked the size and the safety on the LC9, but hated the horrid trigger pull, knew that there was a fix. I couldn't remember if I had already posted this. Get the trigger bar hammer upgrade and the extra power recoil spring from Galloway Precision. http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger-performance/lc9-performance-parts/ Then install the RTK Tactical trigger: http://rtktriggers.com/index.html#gohere These mods were transformational for me. These mods fix the long trigger pull, lightens the pull as well, while reducing muzzle flip. It made the stock LC9, which I liked in feel but hated in function, my favorite carry pistol. Those who have shot the stock LC9 and then shot this one with the mods were amazed at the difference, as I was.

I stop in to Rural King 2 or 3 times a week for something it seems and day before yesterday they had 20 50rd boxes of Remington Golden for 4.99/box and even had .45 ACP. I was shocked to say the least as they hadn't had any .22 ammo in a long time on the shelf. Nope, I didn't buy anything, just got the feeling I better get out of the way before gougers or hoarders trampled me. 10 cents/rd for Remington Golden!? Last time I bought Rem Goldens before last Thanksgiving they were less than 5 cents a piece in those 1600 rd plastic buckets.

795 is a good basic .22, don't ask how many I have had of that series. Dip Products makes some interesting aftermarket that I have tried out to good effect. http://www.diproductsinc.com/products.aspx?CAT=3603 Also Tech Sights has some nice irons: http://www.tech-sights.com/marlin.htm I think they shoot as well as anything in the sub 500 out of the factory class.

Enough money to buy a Dan Wesson .22 DA revolver and a custom made heavy shroud with 6" barrel and/or a Benelli MP90.

I'm just kidding, although with an M&P or a Glock certifired gunsmith is not needed. What is the problem with the CZ? I'm curious as to why the CZ went to a smith. Plinker4life right here on TGO has done some serious work to his CZ 75. I absolutely adore that pistol after having handled it with the mods he did to it. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62821-my-cz-75b-conversion-to-sao-using-cgw-race-hammer-kit-and-czcustom-flat-trigger/

Take the smith out of the equation - Think Glock!:)

Scratch the 90-Two, too weird and low density, making parts and aftermarket troublesome. I've held them in gun shops but know no human being who owns one. I don't like SRT triggers on 226s XDM has a high bore axis as does the 226 and I am not sure I can always get a positive grip on the XD's grip safety in a SYA scenario As both a Glock and M&P armorer and having had who knows how many Glocks and M&Ps - for pleasure at the range I would go with a M&P with a trigger job. The Glock is simply a reliable tool, I shoot other guns better, but I don't trust anything more than a Glock. I shoot the Glock good enough for the type of scenario that might involve me. If you plan on taking head shots at 50M in a hostage situation go for a 226 X-Five Tactical.

Here are a couple of CZ 452s I own. I don't think there is another bolt .22 this side of an Anschutz that is likely better out of the box. The one if the first pic in the middle is a CZ Scout, 16" barrel, a little over 12" LOP. The pic below that is of an Ultra Lux that has Tech Sights and a cut down rear sight. This has been on loan to a fella in Birmingham, AL for a good while and I am getting it back this month.

I've only owned about a dozen 1911s, none now. A fella I know showed me his 50+ 1911s in his safe from custom made for him Ed Brown, Les Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk and of course all the usual suspects including 4 RIAs. His collection is sort of legendary and some folks keep track of how many he has. I also know some now retired bullseye shooters who had 50M slow fire custom 1911s. A friend of mine who carries a custom SA Pro 1911 as part of his duty uniform told me that regardless of how well he handles a 1911 he told me if he has to have at least 2 because one of them is in with the organizational armorer due to these guns inability to hold up to his volume of practice fire. What I would look at is if that 3800.00 1911 will hold its value. Next I am with another poster in this thread thinking that the all steel version might be a better choice for this price point. But like the fella with the over 4 dozen 1911s and some very high dollar ones only you can answer your question. If I were spending that kind of money I would get one from an even smaller volume gunsmith. I asked one such small gunsmith one time how much a good shooting 9mm would cost me and he told me about 2400.00.

Best thing about the old Mossbergs, besides they generally are fine shooters, is the walnut stocks. Even if they are bit dinged up they refinish nicely in most cases.
-
Older Mossbergs are pretty good guns generally, I've had a fair pile over the years. I wouldn't buy an older one sight unseen unless it was from someone you trust. here are the models: http://home.epix.net/~damguy/models.htm Fortunately you can get a lot of parts from here: http://www.havlinsales.com/ and here: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Mossberg-33399.htm Here is a link concerning the Romanian M69 you picutered: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=474367&highlight=romanian+m69+value

http://www.schooloftrades.edu/ http://www.trinidadstate.edu/gunsmithing.html I have friends who are grads of both these gunsmithing schools. Each has its own strengths they tell me and most folks who attend one know of the reputation of the other. Big commitment in time and money though with a questionable job market to make a livelihood at the other end.

It adds on the cost but after putting in a Galloway Precision Trigger Bar and Hammer, increased rate recoil spring and RTK hammer my LC9 is so easy to shoot I haven't even picked up one of the Glocks in several months. http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger-performance/lc9-performance-parts/

I want one of these merely so I can load a 40 grain lead bullet to the same speeds as .22LR so when I can't buy .22LR ammo I can reload something very similar. Seems that the CZ 527 is the "gold standard" in accuracy vice price of current manufacturers.

Thundersnow, I know you'll like that Kidd kit in that poly housing. The one I got you from you created a little buzz on rimfire central. Haven't shot that one yet but it breaks consistently ay 1.75lbs.
