  1. Kieefer,  I've had a couple of those Nikon P22's, nice scopes but they limit me to shooting nothing beyond 100 yards and even then my eyes need more magnification.  Sounds like you are putting together a 1022 that could shoot decent sub 1" groups at 100 yards and certainly be competitive in the 50 and 25 yard games on RFC. The only reason I am looking at stiffening the Tacticool is that I may want to put a bipod on it at some time and the stock forends flex too much for decent bipod shooting.  Plinker4life got a smoking deal on a B&C stock a while back. He is doing some interesting things with 1022s.
  2. The thing on the end is a tuner developed by a couple of people who are members of rimfirecentral.com.  Que has his own bolts now so you can buy his or have your OEM bolt tuned up.  I am having Que tune a bolt for a friend of mine's Kimber of NY 10/22 and I am buying one of his bolts for my green rig.  I am not sold on this tacticool stock.  I may stiffen up the forend with some aluminum channel tubing and acraglass or devcon.  I should just bite the bullet and get a B&C stock.  I think the Fedderesen barrel will shoot, but the types of ammo available in subsonics is way down right now.  I have several types of Eley, SK CCi and limited amounts of others and will likely get some Norma Tac22 which by all accounts is simply RWS Target.
  3. Yeah, I know it looks weird, but if it works I don't much care. J&L tuner, Fedderesen nitrided 18" .920 barrel, Boyd's tacticool, great trigger, stock receiver, replacing bolt next week with a custom bolt from QUE, DNZ one-piece mount, MidwayUSA exclusive Simmons Whitetail 6.5-20x50AO scope, Rimfire Technologies bedding kit used to free float this for the time being.
  4. Couple days ago Rural King in Clarksville had the NAA revolvers in .22LR, .22WMR and one with both cylinders.  Can't remember the prices.
  5. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/calibers.html   check the speeds of .22MAG vs .22LR with 2" barrel.
  6. Just wanted to remind folks of a cheap grip improvement that makes a base 22/45 feel like a top end one: VQ trigger & sear and Hogue grip with the back cut off
  7. Here is the simple way to mount an Ultradot
  8. I have a C-More on my MKIII 22/45 but only because I have it and have nothing else to use it on.   The top two I have used and found the cheaper one more than adequate, although for less than 20 bucks more you get versatility in the second one you don't with the first.   I've also owned the 3rd one and didn't understand how it was better than than the much less expensive second one.   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1397459296/millett-compact-red-dot-sight-1-tube-1x-3-moa-dot-with-weaver-style-rings?cm_vc=ProductFinding   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/546845/millett-red-dot-sight-30mm-tube-1x-variable-sized-dot-3-5-8-10-moa-with-weaver-style-rings-matte?cm_vc=ProductFinding   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/651463/ultradot-matchdot-red-dot-sight-30mm-tube-1x-2-4-6-8-moa-dot-matte?cm_vc=ProductFinding   I've also used or owned on a MKIII a Doctor, Aimpoint Micro and I think it was called a JP reflex.  I didn't like them on a MKIII.
  9. After seeing someone mention the Mora knives utility and cost I went kind of crazy trying out the different styles. The second one from the top is the one I reach for most as a box cutter. The third or middle one has its uses too. I suspect the other three will become useful over time.
  10. For home defense just get a IAC Hawk 982 (Norinco) 870 clone and save your money for other high end play or carry guns.   http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=82794   http://kissurvival.com/hawk-982-shotgun/
  11. He wants to keep his slug barrel, but wants a field barrel to go along with it.  I have no clue if his current barrel is rifled or not.
  12. I have an old friend who wants to get a 24 or 26" barrel for his 20 gauge M2 but is having a devil of a time getting one.  His has a slug barrel on his M2 he likes but he wants a field barrel with choke options for turkey and other game.  Is there a secret handshake or code word needed to get a M2 barrel?  If not where could I get one for him?   Thanks
  13. I wish I had the little Jennings in the middle on the bottom row. Sort of wish I hadn't given away that spare Keltec P32 I had to an old friend. Only the little gray handled P32 is still with me. The little Phoenix's are fun with the right elbow grease, and even the Jennings ran well with a little fluff and buff.
  14. LOL, I have to ask, "Has anyone seen a gun shop that sells Jimenez pistols in the Nashville region?"  I think I need a J22 again.
  15. Fascinating.  Is the base solid?
  16. Anyone have one?  Thoughts?  I can't believe I haven't had one and now think I may need one.   As an added thought, anyone see a dealer who sells Jimenez J22's?  If so where and how much? http://jimenezarmsinc.com/22lr.htm
  17. I kind of like those guns in as much if you can do a fluff and buff on them you can get them to work.  A friend of mine gave me his black Lorcin to get running. (Lori and Cindy were the names of the daughters of the guy who owned Lorcin).  I disassembled that Lorcin and decided to clean it but didn't want to spend a lot of time on it. I sprayed some Gun Blaster on it and gasped in horror as the finished dripped off into my garbage can.  I got the gun cleaned and took all the finish off it and put that pot metal to the buffing wheel. That stuff will buff to a near mirror-like finish.  When I returned the functional gun to my friend I told him I had some good news and some bad news.  Good news is that it worked, bad news is that the color had changed and took it out of the case.  His eyes lit up like Xmas he was so happy with his now "shiny" pistol.     I do wish I hadn't gotten rid of the Jennings J22 I had at one time. That has to be the smallest "functional" semi auto .22LR I have ever seen.
  18. I've owned quit a few Glocks over the years.  TGOrs got most of them in the last couple of years, along with nearly all my other guns.  Just down to a few 10/22s now and a couple of Glocks and two other self defense guns.  The red color is actually Cera Kote applied by another TGOr for me.  I had fun with that 17L.  The most interesting Glock I had was a G34 with a CCF stainless steel frame - I think that thing weighed something like 64oz.
  19. I like Glocks
  20. I guess "custom trigger" was a bit hi-toned when US made compliant part would have been more accurate:  http://www.murraysguns.com/922r.htm
  21. Here is a pair of paratroopers my buddy had made up for his two sons, compliant but with custom triggers, bedded, etc.
  22. Yeah, I want one too, but don't want to spend the money to get one.
  23. My limited experience first hand is that if you keep them clean & lubed and use half decent ammo they work just fine.  I have people almost daily tell me stories about Hi Points, good and bad.  However, a friend of mine who teaches CCW classes and who is an ardent 1911 fanboy, retired LEO, etc., says he sees them every class he teaches and he says they just plain run.  For just a little bit more money one can get a CZ clone like the EAA Poly Witness or the SAR B6P.
  24. Talked to a third owner of a R51 today. He said he has 150 trouble free rounds through his so far.  I actually would like to have one as I like the overall design in general. But I think I will wait a year or two.
  25. I talked to another R51 owner yesterday. He told me that he could not get his R51 to cycle with the 4 types of 9mm he tried.
