  1. http://www.suntimes.com/news/crime/13370035-418/gunowners-flock-to-turn-in-weapons-at-city-buy-back-program.html Idiots.
  2. You might be interested in Wisconsin's own explanation of the law. It has 56 pages. http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/ConcealedCarry/ccw-faq-20111020.pdf
  3. http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/article/20120623/WDH06/306230086/Mike-Nichols-column-Oshkosh-judges-face-down-law-guns-courtroom?odyssey=nav%7Chead Interesting fight over Wisconsin's new carry law.
  4. Legal? Well, maybe, sort of. This why I like being a lawyer. They're probably illegal in general use, like at the food court, but may be legal in your own business with a waiver (permit) from the FCC. There are no cases since 9-11 so it might be in the air.
  5. http://www.ammoland.com/2012/06/19/top-5-concealed-carry-handguns/ At least according to this guy. As I don't carry any of these nor know anyone who does, I wonder how he came up with his selections. Interesting, nonetheless.
  6. My favorite liquor store here in Gallatin, Broadway Liquors (free ad for them), just put up this week a "No Firearms" lettering on their front door. I said, you know I'm going to have to find a new liquor store because I always carry. They told me, "That sign's not meant for you. We know you." Apparently they had a recent visitor who was open carrying and it caused some concern by the owner, hence the new lettering. They were kind enough to show me the store firearm and its location, and asked what I carry so I told them. They said "Don't worry you can carry here anytime. We trust you."
  7. Mine is in lay away at D&T. I hope to get it in the next couple weeks so I can do a range report. The moment I saw it and held it, I had to have it. I love my 238 and can't wait to try the 938 at the range. Graduation and some other issues depleted discretionary funds, but I had enough for lay away.
  8. It would be hard to find a better pistol than a SIG. I have a number and am acquiring more. They are infectious. I've had almost every major brand at one time or another but most have gone by the wayside in favor of the Sigs I carry and shoot. Why? I seem to be able to shoot them better than the others I've tried. You couple that with the fact they all seem to go bang every time I pull the trigger makes them the best choice for me. Others may have different results.
  9. Mike is right. Fondle and shoot as many as you can an pick the one you like the best. While, I'm personally a SIG guy, that's because they seem to fit my hand best. Brand loyalty aside the one you like the best will be the one you shoot the best.
  10. My sauce is sweetened with both molasses and honey as each gives a different kind of sweetness and add distinctive flavors. My hot comes. From jalapeño slurry I make from putting whole pepper with stem removed in a blender with apple cider vinegar. It allows gradual introduction of the peppers to taste. My sauce has been named "Big Bad Wolf" for the regular and "Blow Your House Down" for the the really hot. I have a New Braunfels smoker which is fired up on many weekends. The wife is from Texas and likes brisket and sausage, while I like pork loin and ribs.
  11. I use a baste made of apple cider vinegar, Worcester sauce, granulated garlic, onion powder, cardamon, smoked paprika and water. I baste with a small squirt bottle like a restaurant ketchup bottle and a mop. My barbeque sauce is tomato based and is a sweet hot sauce so you probably wouldn't be interested.
  12. If that's what the Judge said, have your lawyer summon them back into General Sessions on contempt and see how the Judge views their continued conduct.
  13. If the charge is dismissed, expungement should be free. Otherwise, as of July 1, the filing fees for expungement goes up to $450 dollars.
  14. We always used emery cloth.
  15. Look, I'm a libertarian by ideological persuasion, but there's nothing really new here. Most places aerial surveillance does not require a warrant so long as it's visual. If, on the other hand, you use a means other than that available with the naked eye you need a warrant, at least under current federal law. Each state's constitution may give additional protection. As I recall New Hampshire or Vermont allows no aerial surveillance. If the law were to require a warrant for any government overflight that might be very difficult. I mean what about areas flown over to get to the one with the warrant. Are the pilots required to have the windows blacked out until they get to the area covered by the warrant? The Constitution prohibits "unreasonable" search without a warrant.
  16. Many places here continue to recognize the "needed killin'" defense. Even as a lawyer, self help is still the best action.
  17. I do this, too. I love turtles. By the way, be careful TWRA folks don't see you, it's a crime to "interfere" with them.
  18. I'm a big believer in Flag Day. I always thought people flew their flags to celebrate my birthday. Come to think of it, I still do.

    Nice piece.
  20. I'm not available on the 16th, but if you decide to do it another time, let me know.
  21. Y'all have more faith in the reasonableness of DAs than I do. I've seen some pretty silly charges filed. That being said, anyone in my house, regardless of their orientation, would in all likelihood be greeted with lethal force. I'd take my chances on the police, the DA and ultimately a Grand Jury. Here in beautiful Sumner County, I doubt I'd be charged and even if I were, I doubt the Grand Jury would return a true bill. The presumption supporting lethal force is very strong, but, that being said I doubt there would be any charges so long as the intruders were vertical when shot.
  22. Yes, Mike, it's the law. As it stands now, we uphold the law. I was simply lamenting the ever increasing trend destroying any real notion of the liberty bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers. The soldier has every right, under current law, to sue.
  23. Oh, I suppose his politics didn't really bother me. We sat and talked for about an hour before he did a little impromptu concert for our group. He was there with Angela Davis, who gave a rousing "workers of the world unite" "young people are the future of the movement" speech. Needless to say, even though my politics were a bit further left than they are today, that stuff didn't really register with a country boy from Indiana. After seeing this thread I put on Dance Bad on the Titanic, just to reconnect.
  24. I got to meet him shortly before his death at a student's conference and talk to him at length. A socialist, but an interesting guy and I love his music.
  25. Let me say this: I think this woman is despicable and should be publicly humiliated for her actions. That being said, why in a country that claims the mantle of liberty, should the government force a property owner to rent their property to anyone? This is an example where agreeing with the outcome obscures the power grab of freedom. If I own property I ought to be able to rent it or not rent it to anyone I chose. That's exactly the type of liberty for which the military supposedly fights. Liberty means the liberty to do things with which I disagree.
