Gay Rights vs. Rights of polygamist, incestous couples, etc.`
MikePapa1 replied to a topic in General Chat
I think you'll see that come. If gay marriage is a matter of "equal protection" then why not multiple "marriage?" I can see intellectual reason it should not. Unfortunately, our founders set up a system of governance based on ordered liberty, where responsibilities were just as important as rights. We've strayed far from that origin. -
Now that was a fascinating site. Thanks.

Bill Haslam at TFA meeting last night
MikePapa1 replied to 1gewehr's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I normally don't get involved in political discussions as I see them generally as unproductive. Unfortunately, we have gotten to the point in this country where politicians believe they rule and we serve. For that reason, and that reason alone, I often am holding my nose when I vote. Here, Haslam is the lesser of evils. I'll vote for him, but not with any enthusiasm. As to permitless or "Constitutional" carry, I support it but won't hold my breath, as I don't see the majority of folks with enough Constitutional knowledge to even understand it as an issue. -

Can I ask why Stage 5 is blank on your pdf? -
I have a Super Tuck and a Kholster. The ST is better made, but I don't see much difference in comfort. I wear both to carry my Sig 226. When I ordered for the XD platform, I got the Kholster based upon price. One of the challenges I face is that carrying between courts, I need something comfortable but easily removable so it can be locked in the trunk or in a gun locker. I've taken to wearing the Galco SkyOps. It's NOT as comfortable as either the ST or the Kholster, but it's tuckable and easier to get off and on. I guess everything is a compromise.

My default is the theme from Perry Mason. I have two special ones set, my wife is Asokan Farwell and my son is Formula One cars going by. Unfortuneatly because of court I almost never have it off vibrate.

Anytime I'm not carrying the 226 in a Cross Breed, I've got the 238 in my pocket in an RKBA holster which they put my initials on.

California Governor Signs Marijuana Decriminalization Bill

I wonder if the Feds will sue California the way it has Arizona using the claim of federal preemption. -
Academy sports at Rivergate had them a week or so ago.

TN permit holders vs those who actually carry
MikePapa1 replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
All I can say to answer this is what one domestic client told me about why he got a permit: He never intended to carry a gun, but had guns and grew up shooting and saw the HCP as a means of standing up for 2nd Amendment rights. I told him he'd be better off donating to the NRA, but that was his feeling. My guess is that there are as many reasons for getting an HCP and having no intention to carry as there are people who do it. -
I didn't even see this thread until now. If you need anything else, I'm happy top contribute. Give me a PM.

TN permit holders vs those who actually carry
MikePapa1 replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It is inconvenient. Keeping track of where you can and cannot carry, it can be uncomfortable, the unwillingness to make the commitment to behave responsibly as carry requires, and the unwillingness to be willing to kill if necessary. There are all sorts of good reasons not to carry. The last one is the most important to me. If a person is not committed to really be willing to kill if necessary, I don't want them carrying because they are dangers to themselves and everyone else. Many are unable to summon the moral courage necessary to carry a weapon. -
Question about drawing pistol
MikePapa1 replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is a problem I see frequently. First, get an Order of Protection. Then you and your family need to retain a lawyer to deal with this situation. -
TN permit holders vs those who actually carry
MikePapa1 replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Like he said, but in addition to criminal work I also do some domestic as well. I've found that some people like to blame the lawyer for their problems and sometimes do stupid things like come to your home or office threatening to kill you or family members. Hence my desire to carry. When I practiced in Indiana a former LEO threatened me and was observed outside my house and later arrested with a pistol and a shotgun. When he was to be released on bond the judge explained that he'd given me a license to kill him if he came near me or my family again. I've carried a gun. -
May I ask why you don't fully load your magazine?

Life's not fair. This stop was made, I was able to verify that much. I'm waiting to hear back from a friend in Cookeville as to outcome.

It would be hard to go wrong with any 226. I carry mine in a Cross Breed Super Tuck and love it.
-
I carry a Sig P226 in a Cross Breed Super Tuck most days. The only time I carry smaller is if I'm going to courthouses out of county then I carry the P238 in a High Noon Tuckable because its easier to get off and lock in the trunk.

Congratulations. I heard yesterday that Goodlettesville PD is hiring.

I'm up for a meet, not eager to go to Clarksville though.

Good luck. You need to find the right fit. I hope you do.

Any right handed shooters aim with their left eye?
MikePapa1 replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
Me, too. Right Handed, left eye. I normally compensate, even with both eyes open by altering my stance a bit rather than tilting my head. If you simply shift your stance a couple of degrees to the right, the pistol comes up directly in front of the left eye. -
I, too, find parts of this difficult to believe. If it listed a county or a district, I could easily find out what the affidavit says.
