  1. I have heard it debated that it MIGHT be acceptable to drill/pin with a roll pin and skip welding to cover hole. If the roll pin is cut/ground flush, its not coming out. I don't remember which manufacturer does this but they were openly getting away with it unless something has changed. Personally, I prefer pin/weld as its pretty easy to undo if needed-like you want to change your gas block, barrel nut, etc.
  2. After several different .22 AR's, that is exactly the conclusion I have made. I still have 2 that I couldn't possibly recover what I have invested but I find myself ONLY shooting my 10/22's.
  3. Did you use a form 5320? I'm moving 8 miles from where I live currently...not sure which form to submit.
  4. Yep, I got the same news. I think this is my final stamp-if I ever get it! It seems stupid to keep feeding the monster.
  5. I've been using a GoRuck GR1 for over a year now...by far my favorite edc type backpack. I have Maxpedition stuff and like them but they are too flashy for my particular everyday needs. The GR1 is very durable (check out the goruck challenge) and just the right size for me.
  6. Tagging for interest...this is something I want to get into if my house ever sales/I move. My understanding is that their eggs are more nutritious by weight than chicken eggs and I think that -if you only let half of them out at a time, they come back. This means that they will feed themselves???
  7. I make wine and mead...I typically start 10 gal of pear mead in the Fall but I'm taking this year off due to an impending move.
  8. That's reassuring...my fear is just not knowing if it got lost in the mail. Since it now takes 90 days to enter the system, I will not even know that (possibly) for another month. The retailer mailed it so I have no way of tracking it. I also wasn't sure if sending a money order changed the way things happen on their end. Thanks for the replies, all.
  9. I'm in for one lower and one upper.
  10. I paid for another suppressor in July and I used a postal money order for the tax stamp-first time I've used a money order. In all of my previous experiences, I've either used a check or I've paid the retailer and they wrote the check. Anyway, I've always seen the check cash a few days after sending paperwork and from what I've seen on NFATracker.org, this is the norm. This time, though, my money order has not been cashed and the papers were sent in mid July. I would like to tap into the collective wisdom here to ask: should I be worried? It's been almost 2 months. I've called the NFA number a few times and they now tell you that it takes 90 days to enter the system-used to be 8 weeks. Is it normal for payment to be held in some cases and for what reason? I am as patient as I can be- I expect a long, grueling wait! But, 2 months without payment clearing seems excessive, even for NFA. Thoughts?
  11. Save yourself the drawer full of holsters that is inevitable on this quest and go straight for a Raven Phantom. It's more than $40 but so is buying a bunch that don't quite work like you want. It shines as an owb holster but can be used iwb. You'll be glad you did...
  12. Sweet!-whose upper did you use? Coonan, DSA, ...?
  13. Words can't describe what that video makes me feel and it's probably better not to document it on the web anyway...I could NEVER be a cop and arrest that loser!-unredeemable!
  14. I'm looking forward to it...been needing a new zombie (type) movie. I try not to over think movies of this genre.

    Sig p220

Agreed! I have a variety of brands and as I age, this becomes less important to me...I'm less of a collector and more set in my ways. The .45 acp is my favorite handgun caliber and I wanted something that was not polymer (I already own HK's and Glocks). I now wish that all of my .45's could magically become p220's. Mine's a carry size dark elite. I love the size, feel, the way it shoots, and of course-it looks incredible in my opinion. Mag capacity is low but that does not matter to me in a handgun.
  16. My first handgun was a Ruger p85, bought used around 1992 or so. I liked it at the time but eventually traded it away. I wish I still had it for nostalgia purposes (same as my first car, first girlfriend, etc.-all from the same year). It (the gun) had brick-like ergonomics and 6 inches of trigger pull.
  17. I used to be a bit of a backpack junkie but I've settled on a GoRuck gr1. It goes literally everywhere with me but I modify it's contents daily depending on what I'm up to so its not really an easy to describe setup. There are a few constants that stay in there like a good flashlight, hearing protection, a small first aid kit, a small edc pouch, etc. I wish I found this thing years ago! I have 4 other backpacks on the floor of my closet right now that never get used.
  18. I only remember wanting a second look at the case trimmer...I believe he pulled a rope or something to rotate the cases being trimmed???
  19. I prefer open carry as its waaaay more comfy. However, I'm a big guy and with a t-shirt, the gun/holster are mostly hidden. I'm polite, try to be a grey man, and I don't spend money anywhere that's posted. It has yet to come up in conversation so I guess it's working out. I conceal carry when I need to dress up/tuck in my shirt. So, I voted both but oc 99% of the time.
  20. Says "in stock" but says otherwise when you try to add to cart... Edit: now says out of stock...I just need a carrier-I'd take a spare bolt in the deal, though.
  21. One can dream!
  22. I just bought another one-it's worth it if you want one. You will find ammo, folks are trading/selling it here all the time.
  23. Interesting thread...I'm good in the calibers that matter most to me: 5.45 x39 and 5.56 x 45 along with .22 lr and 9mm. I wish I had more (lots more) .45 acp, .300blk, and .308 Win. My shotgun stash is embarrassing but I never shoot those, anyway.
  24. Are they gonna be at Belcourt? The website says Nashville convention center??
  25. I agree that the extremist views probably need their own rally...however, the 15 January rally was much more positive and really had none of the militia, etc. tone. I expected more of the same with this one but it was not to be. I mean, if folks are really concerned about showing up and being seen at one of these, the first one should have put all of that to rest. I think that either: 1) all the other 2a supporters have some better idea to which I've not been made aware for dealing with the impending bad news... Or 2) there is much complacency and we will get what we collectively deserve (last election, anyone?) Of course, it was a day of poorer weather...and a work day. And the executive orders didn't seem that bad, this time.
