Thanks, all…I saw “Jesse James” ammo but never considered the rifle was built by him. Reddit claims it’s around $3500 but it’s not advertised on his site. It’s called the Califa or Califas… It doesn’t use a standard ar recoil system-no extension or buffer. im smitten by it but the pic above is obviously an SBR so that and $3500 kills it for me. Still though-never thought I’d see such an appealing ‘featureless’ rifle.

Does anyone recognize this? It has takedown pins like an AR but is different in so many ways! thanks!

That’s my conclusion as well...I guess I’m wearing shoes in my yard from now on! I’ve lived here for 6+ years and I’m surprised I haven’t seen one before...heavily wooded on a hillside facing south. I think kingsnakes eat them and I have a lot of kingsnakes so maybe that’s why. thanks all for the comments.

Here is a higher resolution picture if anyone is interested. https://imgur.com/a/96ZsE46

Yeah, sorry to be so vague...I’m just reluctant to be ‘that guy’ who misidentifies every snake as a Copperhead or Rattlesnake. I’ve only seen a rattlesnake in the wild 2-3 times in a lot of years being outside. Based on that very limited experience, rattlesnake is my guess. I was hoping someone with more knowledge could say it’s a pine snake or garter snake or... I see a lot of king snakes, northern water snakes, ring neck snakes and an occasional garter snake around my property. I’m certain it’s not one of those.

Thats actually pretty funny! I feel confident that I know what kind of snake it is but I was hoping for an expert to assure me-I’ve seen threads like this in the past so I feel like there might be some herpetology types around. but yeah-if it is what I think it is, I’m definitely curious what ate him on my deck box!

***pictures at bottom of a dead snake-possibly considered gory to some so run away now if you’re sensitive. ***also, I don’t kill snakes or fear them-this one was killed and partially eaten by another animal. I’m in Sumner County in a heavily wooded location. I regularly see snakes on my property and know pretty well what most of them are. That said, I’m definitely not an expert. I found a partially eaten snake on my patio yesterday. I’m seeking an expert opinion to help id it. It was missing its head and its tail -hence the difficulty id’ing it for me. The section I found is roughly the diameter of a regular sharpie and approx. 4 inches long. edit: I’m limited on picture size-I can text/email much clearer pictures if needed thanks in advance!

Thanks all for the comments...that Thorsden cheek rest might be what I go with.

I'm looking to complete an AR pistol...I don't like the aesthetics of most of the braces I've seen. I ran across an airsoft gun while shopping on Amazon and it seems that most of these things are made to look like actual parts that are available. I'm wandering if anyone can ID either of the stocks im attaching pictures of. I realize that-in the case of the airsoft gun, the stock may not be an actual pistol brace if it even exists in real life. Still-I'd like to know who makes it. The other stock appears to be a brace but with the straps removed. I also know that this is a bad idea and don't intend to do it. But I'd like to see it in its entirety to decide if I can use it.

Taya Kyle's Discussion with President Obama

Perhaps this has been addressed elsewhere but if having a trust means my background isn't checked, then what happens during the examiners time with my paperwork? I know, it sits in a box for a long time but is their only job to check for errors on the forms? If that's all they do, hire a couple of high school teachers to "grade" these things and the backlog would go away in a week! I've also done the non-trust method for purchasing NFA items and I don't know that the Sherriff did any kind of check-I didn't fill out a form like when purchasing a firearm-I just dropped them off and picked them up the next day. -
If Ruger ever re-releases the sp101 in a 3" barreled version again, it's going straight to the top of my list!

I'm in Sumner County...I have the tool and it's super easy to do. If I'm not too far, pm me and we'll set it up.

I opened this expecting it to be another of your humorous posts! To your other point: I have two sons and am grateful for that every day!

Metro Nashville Public Schools is eliminating Algebra and Geometry.

Want to know what kind of math classes they have in Japan? They are called integrated math! How do I know? I teach high school math and have had numerous Japanese foreign exchange students pass through. I (don't) wander why Japanese students outperform their American counterparts in math...not all change is a bad thing. Kids will still learn Agebra1, 2, and Geometry content. It's rearranging the order and streamlining the standards. As an example: currently, kids "learn" the distance formula three times (all 3 classes), but out of context. Why teach the distance formula in Algebra 1 without teaching the Pythagorean Theorem (in detail-Geometry!) first? Then they get to Geometry with an exposure to the concept that required they memorize-now they forget but don't want to see the Geometric side of it. Later, they get to Algebra 2 where they can finally use the formula in a mature way and its this thing that 3 different people have tried to cram down their throats from 3 somewhat different perspectives, and they fully resent it. The integrated math classes only replace the core content (alg 1,2, geo.) for now...all the other classes like Trig, Calc, Stats, etc.m are still the same. Those classes are electives. I don't work in Metro (I used to) so I can't speak for them but my school system is also likely gonna adapt this curriculum...I don't believe that its related to the common core concept directly. As a parent, I'm not thrilled about the common core concept (not for the tinfoil hat reasons some have) but as a parent and math teacher, I do favor the integrated math concept. Take that for what it's worth...??? -
I'm envious!!! I can't wait to hear more!

I have a whole tube of Aeroshell...Pm me your address and I'll send you enough to install a few barrels.

If anyone just wants the rifle, I'd take the 500 rounds for $250.

A couple of questions for the knowledgeable folks here: -is there a model in bolt action for which I can get a custom barrel (if I could swap them myself, that would be a bonus). -does anyone have experience loading subsonic ammo for this caliber? Could I get away with a 1/12 twist firing 62 grain bullets at subsonic velocities? I would like to keep the twist rate so that I can still fire lightweight factory rounds as well. The rifles I've seen have been 1/16 or 1/14 so I'm expecting to need something custom if it exists. I'm interested in a project, if feasible. I have a lot (whole lot) of 55 and 62 grain bullets and I'll never load another 5.56 cartridge (no need to). I'm not interested in single shot (TC or HR) type rifles for this. Thanks!

How do you like it when Daryl shoots multiple walkers through the head with the same arrow and then, when he needs both hands free, he carries the arrow clenched between his teeth?
-
Beautiful! ...and it uses plentiful, Beretta mags. If it retails in the ~$4-500 range, I'd be happy to try one out.

Interested, likely a yes.

My Sparrow has brought me more joy than all my other NFA stuff combined. It is multicaliber and I find myself thinking "what can I get in 5.7 and .22 hornet" just to have more stuff to screw it onto. I already use it on multiple .22's and a .22 wmr.

To this poster and the original poster...I'm just outside of H'ville and have a 50 (or so) yard range with a mountain for a backstop. I also have a few suppressors you can demo in .30 cal and .22lr.
