  1. DD has had fewer "hiccups" with their kits than DPMS has in the past. I have DPMS in one of my rifles, and an unknown in the other, so I'll be swapping them out. I don't really have any credible evidence, but I keep hearing things about the DPMS kits, and for a few dollars more, I'd be happier.
  2. Did you say "rail gun"? http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110215014154/redfaction/images/d/dc/Raildriver.jpg That takes me back.
  3. May I say something about the LPK? With the money you're saving on the stock, it would probably be a better investment to get a DD kit for, say, $20 more than the DPMS kit. Daniel Defense AR-15 Lower Parts Kit (LRPK) includes MAGPUL MOE Trigger Guard Just a thought. Most people don't have issues with the DPMS kits.
  4. Nysos just did all your homework, buddy. I got most of my parts from www.bravocompanyusa.com , but you could search for yourself to find the best price elsewhere. Carbine lengths are nice, but I've seen everywhere how people prefer mid-lengths.
  5. Legal documents aside, this is going to be a nice SBR.

    Ruger P9

That price seems a bit steep. I haven't really seen the allure of this rifle with the Kel-Tec Sub 2k on the market, but everybody that owns a Camp 9 that I know love it.
  7. I bought two first timer ARs (for myself and the wife), then sold my wife's upper and am now building it from scratch. All I'll need to do is replace the LPK and it will be a great rifle so I can start revamping my own Most people are happy with stock ARs, so I would suggest looking around before deciding to build. But when you get there, I've got this to say: 1/8 twist is ideal for what you're doing. It will perform fine with any bullet you put through it. As Dolomite_Supafly would say, "you want your barrel twist to just barely make the bullet stable, so it tumbles when it impacts." As for the "20... There's a lot of ifs and buts about this question, but in my opinion you'll only find a decrease in velocity between "20 and "16, around 200 fps. So if we're shooting out to 500 yards, you'll be okay--beyond that, you may see some trouble. I stick with 16", myself. Whatever your choice is, you'll be happy with it.
  8. I had expected a whole crowd of "holier than thou" types. I was happy to be proved wrong. And I remember meeting you, as well. I wish I could remember your name, but I had heard a dozen-or-so while I was there. If you saw a guy in a Deerfield Beach shirt, that was me.

    Glock 1911????

Wow. It may be my eyesight, but that's a nice photoshop
  11. If he's looking to free float the hand guard, looking into Samson Mfg. EVOLUTION rails. I bought one recently and my 'smith commented on how it was better than DD's design at half the price. Otherwise, the opinions above are great.
  12. Man, that's a toughy. You'll have to go with your gut on this one.
  13. My dad and I just hung around a bit in the back to see what all was going on. It looked like a hell of a lot of fun! Afterwards I ran over to Frontier and priced a shotgun for this use.
  14. FM clones are nearly identical to the original Hi-Power. Good job on the buy. My first pistol was a FEG Hi-Power clone. It was a great shooter, comfortable and all. I sold it to buy my XD carry piece (I just couldn't get over the magazine safety :/)
  15. Most of my trips don't end in $10 boxes of ammo. Lucky you.
  16. I can imagine. When I heard of the round a few months ago I took a look, and I don't remember being pleased AT ALL. Let me know when you get it together and all's done
  17. Academy... Where is that?
  18. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind--what works for you will work for you. It's really that simple.
  19. BOOM. Nice.
  20. I would, Murgatroy. Let me know when your schedule is free. And you make a good point, Mike. I just guess I would have liked it worded better, is all.
  21. Good to know. Thanks!
  22. He doesn't, really--that's why I said "box or two." But he started selling Maks and CZ82s awhile back, so he always keeps some ammo for them in stock. I've been looking for a reason to buy one from him.
  23. If I could say something, David, I don't really think Enfeild's post made any sense with the context. Why mention how he doesn't prefer retention in a thread where I'm looking for a retention holster. Seems a bit redundant, doesn't it? I'm not trying to be an *******, but this doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. But anyway, Murgatroy and dralarms, this holster seems promising. I'll have to look around and try to get one in my hands before I order one.

Expect to replace some parts (like, maybe the stock, the barrel if there is pitting, etc.). Look up how hard the parts are to find, how expensive they are.
  25. Ah. I hate it when things are out of stock... Well, that doesn't mean you can't build a 20" upper a little later. It occured to me last night I should have bought one of those M-16 kits back when they were $350...
