  1. Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that...
  2. Have you tried Austin's? They always seem to have a box or two--not sure the price, though.
  3. What kind of upper are you getting, Mike?
  4. No, I suppose not. But I know that it's only a loss of velocity so I opt for the 16" barrels. Velocity isn't an issue for me at the short ranges I shoot. And another factor is I use it as my HD carbine--can you imagine clearing a small house with a 20" AR?
  5. EoTechs are good, and half as expensive as ACOGs. You can find some deals out there, as long as you're persistent enough to check (places like the Equipment Exchange at www.ar15.com )--the same could be said for ACOGs, but the EoTechs would be far cheaper. Whatever it is you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Also, this thread has taken a sharp turn since I last looked. I wouldn't be comfortable shooting with a 20" barrel, but I've never done any shooting beyond 100 yards. Maybe one of these days you could show me what all the hype is about.
  6. Well, I know that--I just threw "partial" in there to explain it better Plus, my firearms prints significantly, so a person would have to be stupid not to realize what it is. Back to topic... Has anyone had any issue drawing with an steady firing grip with the Carrylok?
  7. That's a pretty good question, but I suppose making a "custom" AR is like putting your own unique stamp on it--and people generally like doing that.
  8. I'll be there. I'll be the guy in the green hat that doesn't know what he's watching. ETA: Also, I was curious if one that didn't participate could carry at this function?
  9. When I open carry (a shirt over my OWB), I don't want to give anyone a chance to grab at my pistol. Also, I'm surprised your company let's you carry. More power to you *thumb up* ETA: retracted "partial"--poor choice of words.

    Keep the XD.
  11. SD = Self Defense And that's sweet, Graycrait
  12. I looked all over the website, can't believe I overlooked it.
  13. Dropped off the parts to my 'smith today. Should be done in a few days, now.
  14. What do you do for work? Also, since 5.11 doesn't make those holsters for XDs, looks like I'll have to get a Glock... Oh me...
  15. I've looked around and found that other holsters don't fit my taste. My father has a regular, run-of-the-mill retention holster, and when I took it for a spin one day I found that my movements were cumbersome and delayed. My brother has a leather holster for his Glock, but I don't like how it can just come right out of the thing with very little effort. The SERPA is the only holster that's actually met my needs.
  16. Accuracy? There is basically no difference in accuracy between 16 and 18 barrels at shorter ranges (less velocity gives you less range). You'll find a decrease of velocity--but only about 200 feet per second.
  17. So, no one has had any experience with these?
  18. Enjoy the retirement, and my family and I appreciate your service.
  19. I'm not sure if I'm not looking correctly, bur I cannot find any info on either of those holsters. In my search I did come across 5.11's own design. I'd love for them to make these for XDs. ThumbDrive Holster | Gun Holsters | 5.11 Tactical Field testing by Viking Tactics:
  20. So, now that I've seen how people get hurt using SERPA holsters (I know it's a training error, but even training has room for one simple error, so I'd like to have a walk on the safe side for now), I've been looking around at other avenues, while still keeping the retention aspect. I've only found one, thus far. Fobus Holster: Thumb Lever Holsters Opinions? ETA: I'll be using the belt attachment, BTW.
  21. I've heard some good things about White Oak Armament White Oak SPRr Barrel for the Tactical AR15 at ADCO Firearms

    That is cool as hell!

    Glock 1911????

I like the one from 73challenger quite a bit more Makes me wonder if it was a custom job, though--but that would be a waste of money... and pretty damn stupid.
  24. 1 Most people go with the 12" for the longer sight radius. Should do fine. 2 1x8 should do fine with most kinds of ammo, so I've heard. The fluting I don't know about, as I barely looked into it when I was shopping. EDIT: apparently it has to do with the "stiffness" of the barrel, therefore the accuracy. 3 No. You're G2G. 4 Midlengths don't need heavy buffer springs. There isn't as much concussion as with carbine length gas systems. 5 Clamp-on should work fine. 6 D&H mags.
