My husband Mark got his Super Redhawk .44 yesterday that he has been wanting and I couldn't be left out so I added a baby Glock to my collection. I have been wanting a 9mm since I started shooting. From left to right, my S&W 640 .357/.38 spec, Marks Ruger Super Redhawk .44, Marks Ruger Single Six .22, my Beretta U22 Neos .22, my Glock 26 9 mm and my KelTec P3AT .380 Now he wants a good carry gun and we gotta stop for a while ROFL yeah right!!!!

PackinMama, Whitesville is about 2 hours away from where I was raised. It is close to Madison and Danville and I used to drive through them going to Charleston. WV is a beautiful state but there just isn't much up there anymore except coal mines and I am thankful my sons are down here with me and not in the mines. It is hard labor. My ex-husband was also a miner, unless one knows first hand, they can't imagine how hard it is.

Oh and here is my wheel guns. The Ruger was just added to the family this last weekend, it belongs to my husband, the S&W jframe is mine.

Hey PackinMama, what part of WV? I was born and raised in WV, lived there until 10 years ago, I moved to TN. My dad, grandfathers, uncles and brother were all coal miners. I was from around Matewan WV, which is on the Ky border, this area is where the Hatfield and Mccoy's fueded.

I have a S&W 640 J frame for carry which I really like, I have a Beretta Neos for plinking and I really like it and I just got a Keltec P3AT for summer time carry. I have shot my son-in-laws Ruger P95 and though my fingers aren't quite long enough to get that gun I really liked it and have wanted a 9mm since. I was in the gun store yesterday with my husband and I laid eyes on the Springfield Armory 9mm Sub compact and I held it in my hands and now I want it soooo bad. It appears to be a good size, it seems to be a good price and my hand fits around the grips just fine (I have small hands). Any negatives on this piece?

Sounds like you got it figured out PackinMama. On top of all the good reasons you gave the best is that your son can't get ahold of the gun without your knowledge. I think your nick should be SmartPackinMama

Thank you TNDixieGirl, yes please do so, the Fugates in Calhoun are sweet GOOD people, I use their gun range for practise and I bought one of my guns there and they are very fair and I just can't imagine them being associated with the ones in Ky. The company names are the same though, I hope this doesn't affect their business.

Wow, gee, that is a shame that the name is the same, I would hate to see the Fugates in Calhoun associated with this mess. The Fugutes I know are great people. Couldn't find a nicer lady, she taught the handgun safety class for my CCW permit.

Thanks, they are my babies, they sleep in my bed and stay by my side. So nope I guess I don't need an alarm, my girls are pretty good deterrents, you should see the UPS and Fed Ex guys deliver, I hear the doorbell ring and by the time I get to the door they are running down the hill and the package is sitting on the steps. It only takes one time for a delivery person to see them when I open the door to set the stage for future deliveries!!! ROFL

TNDixieGirl, congrats on your decision to stop and good luck in kicking the habit. I stopped smoking on November 14th of 2006. I have been smoke free for one year and and two and a half months. I still crave them at times but it is now much easier to get my mind off of them and believe me the money you save will make it worth it, not counting your health and all other aspects. My hardest times was after eating, when on the computer, driving, getting up in the morning, arguing (LOL) ok you get the point........... I smoked about 2 packs a day. I had stopped once before for about 4 months and started back for another 2 years but when I finally decided I was going to stop for good I did! It takes determination and it is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. But it can be done. So good luck, I hope you can kick it! Just think, if you succeed you can go get you a nice new gun for the money you would save on cigs!

Thanks and hubby hasn't taken his class yet. He will be taking it in the next month or so, it is harder for him to schedule because of work.

Got mine today!!! So lets see, my fingerprints were done on the 21st of Dec. I was issued on the 28th of Jan. and got it today on the 2nd of Feb. so it was 6 weeks and one day from prints and 5 days from issue.

OMG!! I got mine today!! Hubby and I went to the range and shot my new Kel-tec .380 and my S&W 640 and then came home and my permit was in the mailbox!! I was very excited and we are going out in a bit so I get to try my first outing with it, I told hubby, "Don't worry darling, I will protect you!" So lets see, my fingerprints were done on the 21st of Dec. I was issued on the 28th of Jan. and got it today on the 2nd of Feb. so it was 6 weeks and one day from prints and 5 days from issue.

Can you elaborate on that purse a little more, I would be interested in one. A link or a picture? Also, I have a S&W 640 j frame and I LOVE it. I handled several of the J frames and for some reason I liked the feel of this one when I got it in my hands. It's heavier but I love it. Well I am not holding my breath if you did your paperwork and prints in mid Nov, cause I didn't do my paperwork until Dec 20 and fingerprinting the next day. I probably still have quite a wait. When I called them she did tell me that I was issued on the 28th of Jan and that I should get it in 7 to 14 days. *shrug* Guess we will see!

Handgun Carry Permits 1150 Foster Avenue Nashville, TN 37243 (615) 251-8590 I was finger printed on the 21 of Dec, I called yesterday and they said I was issued on Jan 28th which was the day before and that I should get mine within 7 to 14 days. This is one of the hardest things I have had to wait and watch for, I wonder why?

Ok I just talked to them and they said I was issued on the 28th and that I should receive it in the mail in 7 to 14 days! Lookout Walmart hehehe... my trip is coming up soon hopefully!

I read this whole thread LOL hoping to feel better, I see I have the wait and walk syndrome, wait each day for the mail to run and walk down and check it. I did papers and took pic at the DMV on Dec 20st and fingerprinted electronically on Dec. 21. I think I am gonna call the number and see where I stand. This is enough to make my hair turn gray ROFL.

Thanks all for the welcome, maybe I will get up to the shoot some time but December isn't good for me, I have so much to do with the holidays here. It sounds fun though, do you have both men and women and if so do both shoot? I happen to be a little ole woman with a mean pistol to pack!! ROFL J/K What does it actually consist off?
