Well dang! Now I want the LCP! I may just have to hand over my little P3AT to hubby to use as a trade in on something and then get the LCP. Mark don't read this thread!!!
-
Here is a question for those who have both or have held both etc, I have the P3AT and the plastic has little rough edges, it is not an attractive gun to say the least but I got it to have for a smaller carry and backup, the picture of the LCP looks like it is smoother like it has no rough edges, is this true?

There are a thousand "what ifs" in life and I don't think it is going to matter if a gun is hidden under the seat or under my leg, if an accident happens then the outcome is by chance one way or the other. I've driven since I was 16 and now I am 49 years old and have never had an accident yet that would throw a pistol out of my car, doesn't mean it won't happen next week or a year from now but I cannot live my life by "what ifs" or I would have been frozen by fear many years ago. I do what I can to live my life and keep myself and my family safe and as I get older I get wiser and more appreciative of life and how precious it is. If I am in my car alone and I have to try to reach for my gun under the seat or glove box etc it may not be enough time to protect myself. I'm not saying that my pistol under my leg is the best way but it is a way that gives me the opportunity to have access to my firearm if I need it. It's not there all the time, but I won't carry it in my purse and I can't have it in my ribs while driving. So I do the best I can under the circumstance for ME. Everyone has to work that out for themselves. When someone makes a perfect concealment holster for a woman with immediate access THEN I'll be listening.

I was out of state visiting my friend this weekend, she's a cop, she was off duty and her revolver was laying guess where, in her console hidden by a baseball cap. I actually don't have a console that accomodates my gun, it is a two cup holder so I wouldn't be able to keep to it there anyway without complications of trying to grab ahold of it correctly, the question was more or less a what is correct senerio that Mark and a coworker was discussing at lunch. When Mark and I are in my car I am driving 50% or the time and he is the other 50, when I am driving my gun is under my leg, when he is driving the gun is in my belly band or a holster. When we are in his truck he is always driving and I don't think I have had my gun in the truck yet, but it would most likely be on me. We are taking a trip in the next couple of months for a graduation out of state and unless Mark has his permit back in time we will need to know the correct way for me to carry in the car without upsetting the balance of him not having a permit yet.

You have a good point there Glockmeister. magoo304 (Mark) is my hubby and he has just taken his gun class and is in the process of getting a day off work to get down to the dmv and get the permit ordered. You mentioned that it would be better if the gun was concealed in the car, actually I am usually by myself when in the car and I keep my gun under my right leg, maybe that sounds crazy to some but it is the best place for me to "hide" it and have quick access to it if needed. Which brings up another question for all you seasoned carriers. If your gun is out of sight and you are stopped by a LEO do you give your carry permit along with drivers license or only the drivers license?

That is so dang frustrating because it is a constant pain in the rear to try to figure out what is and isn't legal and whose opinion is what and what opinion matters or if it even counts. Do they make is complicated for a reason? Ugh! Personally I wish they would simply pass a law that all places that are off limits would be posted by the appropriate signs and any that aren't posted are free grounds for carry. See how simple that would be

I traveled from Savannah Ga to back home in TN yesterday and I had my G26 laying by my side, but when I made any stops I hide my G26 in the console and slipped my little Kel Tec 380 in my pocket because it is small enough to be hidden easy. It's also very light.

Thanks Fallguy, thats what I thought but wasn't sure.

I went to pick my daughter up at the public library and I had to go in to get her. I didn't know if it is illegal to carry inside or not, so I basically just stood outside and texted her on the cell to come on. Can anyone tell me if it is or not, there were no signs saying one way or the other.

Do you drink diet cola's? If so it could be the aspertame. Just a thought. Aspertame is some mean stuff.

Thanks for the idea strickj, I think it would help some but the pressure of the paddle into my leg when sitting will be there whether I have leather on it or a sock which I tried. The sock helped but not enough to help me be able to wear it for a long period of time if I have to sit.

Buy a smaller belt? Sorry I couldn't resist. I tried a paddle holster also, one for my S&W 357, actually bought it and it is now in the "new holster I shouldn't have bought" heap. It's a reasonably priced holster, holds your gun until you want to draw it BUT the paddle is way too big for my leg and presses into it when I sit down, it's a Fobus, I have actually contemplated having my husband cut the paddle down a bit to fit my leg better but not sure if it will hold right (anyone tried this?), but at the moment it is just sitting here gathering dust so I may just do it yet. From what I am experiencing it seems that it is much harder to find a good comfortable fit for a woman. Good luck in your continued search.

Hi Nancy, I am a lady and have gotten a few different types of holsters already so I have a little experience with different types. I have never used an ankle holster but I think the Glock 26 which I also have btw would be way to much for my ankle. After trying several types I finaly got the bellyband and love it (I can even powder my nose in the ladys room without worrying my gun is going to fall out of the holster). I also got a fanny pack which will be nice when I am walking my dogs or busy with my hands and need the pack for gun and wallet etc. My only concern is in the summer months the belly band will be hot, so I am not sure yet what I will do then. I am thinking of getting the Uncle Mikes inside the waist holster for it and put a velcro strap on it to make sure it stays in. I have an Uncle Mikes inside the waist for my S&W Jframe and I like it alot but I feel like the gun is going to fall out if I bend over LOL. I don't think it will but I love having a little peace of mind in knowing that it is pretty much gonna stay where I put it until I need it.

And then one day It took me 6 weeks and 1 day to jump for joy and kiss my mail box!

Out of all the handguns I have tried and that I have in my home my Glock 26 is my favorite and I am a better shot with it. I don't know how much simplier it could be for a carry gun than a Glock, so I chose what works for me and it's definitely my GLOCK! I don't understand why anyone would say a Glock sucks. Why do they bother putting something down that works well for others? I think some people use too much energy and good time trying to put something down rather than tolerate the diversity that makes life interesting.
-
I don't think anyone is jumping on to anyone, or at least I'm not, I am stating my opinion the same as everyone else. I bought my Glock because I wanted a 9 mm and looked at the Springfield Armory then compared them and the loaded Glock weighs the same as the SA with empty magazine, that had a bearing on what I decided on. What it all boils down to is that there are different people that love different things, everyone isn't going to agree on the same thing EVER, that is what diversity is all about and it makes the world go round.
-
I buy my handguns because they feel right in my hands, nothing to do with the brand or who uses them. Everytimg I have decided to purchase a gun I have asked opinions and then came home with something completely different than the brand I inquired about. I have a revolver, the S&W 640 j frame and the "dreaded" Glock 26 which is turning out to be my favorite handgun to carry which btw getting back to the topic, I carry chambered and ready to rock!!!

The innapropriate night-time door knock...
Ricochet replied to dkd83's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I agree with 2Alpha, I live in the city and though it is small, crazy things happen these days. There are homes that get broken into while people are at work, so I have my gun on me or by my side constantly and of course I have two dobermans that live in the house with me. LOL -
Failure to Feed in Glock 27 - please help
Ricochet replied to PackinMama's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I am glad you are liking it, I hope it gets through those next 50 to 100 without a hitch so you can feel confident and enjoy the "baby". I love my "baby" 26 and have been carrying it regulary since I got it. -
Failure to Feed in Glock 27 - please help
Ricochet replied to PackinMama's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Tabby, when you get it figured out let me know, the extension that I bought wasn't the one to hold extra bullets, it is just there for my pinkie Hopefully it will do better with the new extensions, I want you to love your baby as much as I love mine. -
Failure to Feed in Glock 27 - please help
Ricochet replied to PackinMama's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Hi Tabby, I am glad to find out the extensions may cause a problem since I was thinking of getting them for my G26. I stopped at the gun store today to check on them but they were out but while I was there I did buy one of the Pearce grip extensions and it works beautifully, I need to get one more for the other magazine but I think you would be happy going that way. -
Hello and welcome!

Tasers, Stun Guns-- Appropriate Response?
Ricochet replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
When I first read the opening post my first thoughts were "what would they do after they paralized me for those few seconds. It would give them time to do what? I would be at their mercy. That would NOT be a place I want to be. It is not that I would be afraid of the taser but what that person was intending to do, why else would someone tase a person, so in my opinion if someone was about to tase me then there must be a reason for it that doesn't add up to them being a "nice" person. Therefore I do believe my life would be in jeopardy. I would fear for my life and must act accordingly. -
I was until I held them both and found that the Glock was lighter in weight which made the final decision for me. I love the look of the XD but the weight for me as a carry gun will be better in the long run.

LOL that's actually what he wants!!! But he's not settled on that for sure. He's still looking.
