If awlaki was in the US, would your opinion of the action change?
-
Actually, I do get how war works and what you are saying about war. That's why I keep asking for clarification on the declaration of war and which countries we are at war with, per the declaration.
-
If all of those countries are harboring terrorists why can't we declare war on them? I am curious what group we declared war on? Would this be the white, middle class folks I see in the DHS videos?
-
Perception is reality. It would appear you are not reading what I am writing. The president has no right to assassinate a citizen. The Constitution has specifics for handling Treason. We are not at war with Yemen, therefor the war argument is null and void. Justification is given by Due Process. Secret evidence and no-trial /or no satisfaction of treason per the Constitution is not Due Process.
-
The federal government has rules for denouncing citizenship, believe it or not. Using their own rules, there has been no evidence presented that he ever denounced it. They did this to keep people from escaping jurisdiction.
-
But you trust those 500+ retards to decide in private who to kill without due process. LOL Why do we have so many scared adults in America? If we are at war with those countries, declare it already and turn em to glass. Then we can declare this 10 year undeclared "war on terror" a victory and get back not being a bunch of scared people willing to trade the Constitution for a bit of false safety.
-
It's not a thoughtless analogy. You have repeatedly implied that either, we don't realize that we could be targets or that we are not being forthcoming. I am stating that there should be a greater concern for higher probability events. Since we are not, it shows the fallacy of concern.
-
Secrecy is not what Due Process is about. If they were positive, there should have been a rendition to assure it was actually the desired target and evidence presented to satisfy Americans that Due Process was followed. Without those things we are left with nothing but secrecy and allegations.

The heard can't read or understand the Constitution of the United States of America. It's not that I don't think I could die or be killed. It's that I aint scared and won't to piss on the Constitution. If ifs and buts were cherries and nuts, we would all have a merry Christmas. Over the last 10 years an average of 35k people have died a year in auto accidents. over 400k since 2001. Where is the war on cars?
-
If we are not under immediate attack, then yes. They delineate to get the public to go along with it. The war on terror, is the largest industry in America. It is a money maker too, plain and simple. Hitler would have stood trial, just like the majority of other high value targets. The hague ring a bell? Isreal did so with Adolf Eichmann. Some guys in a truck, in a country we are not at war with? They must have some long range missiles to get us from there. Assuming this guy is who the .gov says, how do we even know it was really him in the truck? Why not rendition him and make sure? Heck for all we know it was another bearded camel jockey who looked like him.

With no defined enemy, battlefield or end, this will turn out like the War on drugs, the War on poverty or any other War on NOUN. If we are at war with all those countries that house alqueda (which seems to be anyone the gov says), then lets declare the SOB and get er done once and for all. This crap has drug out now for 10 years. How much longer will it be? When will the war spill onto our soil to take out the folks DHS is making out to be terrorists? You know, the veterans and white middle class Americans?

You mean everything we read on the Interwebs is true? I've seen video of David Copperfield making a jet disappear. How do we know this was not all performed by http://www.scl.cc/? Without evidence we will never know. Not saying this is fact, but manupulation of news is the sort of thing SCL does. Al-Jazzera fakes stuff all the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwOV8zVRczM

With all of the evidence they allegedly have, there should be no problem doing a rendition and giving him a trial. We are not at war with Yemen, so unless there is satisfaction for the requirements of treason, bombing a US citizen violates the Constitution. It is not just a piece of paper to ignore when it is convenient. It is what restricts the government and every violation gives them precedence for future violation. Folks will just use the argument that it has been done before, so so what. If we are at war with all of those countries then Congress needs to declare it and we need to glass them all. The war we are losing is being fought against our Constitution.
-
It is understandable that this can be a very emotional topic. We can not however let our emotions cause us to disregard our duty to uphold the Constitution. I would not want someone who allegedly killed one of my family members to be railroaded without due process. Due process would be what convinced me that the correct party was punished. Then and only then would I possibly, perhaps, maybe be able to move on. It's about evidence and not relying on mere allegations.

Much to everyones chagrin, there appears to be more housing/ asset deflation on the horizon. Be patient. Just wait till the backlog of foreclosures start unwinding.

The contempt for Dr. Ron Paul by the media
sigmtnman replied to sigmtnman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The regulation of media has changed a lot over the last 20 years and you would be surprised what little there actually is. Not that it is a bad thing as I don't believe in much regulation. This does however require a tireless populace that is willing to dig deeper and question the statements and ideas presented by the media. This is a whole additional discussion that delves into corporate personhood. I've posted up a site that allows folks to see the incestuous connections between the board members of most multinational corporations that are required to provide said information. If you have a chance, go to http://www.theyrule.net/ and pick a large company and start drilling around. It is very interesting. As far as how much control they have, ask Hank. -
If the Founders were not "visionary" enough, their exists a mechanism for amending the Constitution to handle such situations.
-
Disregarding the hypothetical. If you watch the Ron Paul video, he explains much better the differences you are asking about. We are not in a declared war with Yemen. This actually matters. We must allow ALL US citizens the right to due process. Not for Awlaki, but for you, I and every other Citizen. It is our responsibility to keep the government in line and make sure that it follow the rules spelled out in the Constitution. There is nothing to stop this from evolving to US Citizens anywhere in the world. They could have done a rendition if they knew where he was or they could declare a war on Yemen, if need be. They didn't. Instead they unilaterally decided to use a drone and missiles to kill a US Citizen, without due process afforded under the Constitution. This is a simple thing. If they have satisfied Treason under the constitution, then prove it. If the Constitution was not "visionary" enough, amend it. But let us not allow it to be disregarded as one would used toilet paper.

The contempt for Dr. Ron Paul by the media
sigmtnman replied to sigmtnman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Before taking the time to understand his stances, I was very critical of him. Regardless of how I tried to refute his positions, his logic was solid and he wound up swaying me. To accept some of his ideas and principals requires an honest dialogue with yourself. It requires accepting more responsibility as a citizen, which most folks would rather relegate to the Fed. -
The contempt for Dr. Ron Paul by the media

Yes there is a unilateral bias. The only possible reason I can imagine is because they do not want him to get elected. The media is not supposed to agree or disagree with policies or views, so something is up. The continually make snarky comments, make faces while he talks and call him names. They attempt to make him seem as though he is out of touch, but whenever he speaks I am unable to find fault in what he says. Most of the directors who sit on the boards of the 6 main media companies also sit on the boards of companies who would stand to lose a lot of $$$ if he were able to accomplish his goals of reducing the size of the federal government. So it that is why I say they are afraid of him. -
It's laughable. They are very afraid of him and it shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ISg6u7tPRU
-
His words speak volumes on the rights of Citizens. Discussion of alleged terrorist starts at 2:31 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ISg6u7tPRU
-
I don't buy into traitor's rights either, though I do buy into the Constitution. The Constitution is the document which defines the powers of the government and the rules buy which it must abide.
-
You should read it again. Do you propose another anchor by which to hold the government to the principals of it's Constitution?
