Those dollars sound pretty neat. Always thought the 1k libertad looked cool.

I've written a few paper letters to my Congressmen but pretty much gave up since all I ever got back were form, "I appreciate your input but I know better than you" responses. Only took a few before I gave up so I reckon they are doing something right, or wrong as the case may be.

Those of you who live near the mountains are so freakin' lucky...
sigmtnman replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I understand what you are saying David, but would suggest that if you are trying to take it in, why not pull over at the first opportunity, let the "clown" by and enjoy your time even more without the stress of a tailgater? If you are not in a hurry the extra few seconds should not impact you. We live pretty far down a two lane road with no areas to pass, in a somewhat popular tourist area. When my wife was pregnant we had an emergency situation to deal with and for whatever reason people refused to pull over to let us by and one particular tourist fellow slowed to a snails pace and moved to the center of the road to block us. That fellow doesn't know how close he came to ending up in the drink as I feared for my wife and unborn child. Granted, I had the hazards on and surely you would have let someone by in that situation, but the self absorption can be viewed from both angles. -
I just want to clarify, that the greeter and I had a cordial exchange and I've never had an unpleasant interaction with one. I merely said "no thank you" and though she did follow me a couple of steps, after the second time I said "no thank you", she went back to her post. It was a customer who chased me to my vehicle. Perhaps my ambitious comment was misunderstood. Previously when in a hurry I would say no thank you and the greeter would just tell me to have a nice day or something similar. In the end it's all good as I pointed out because we found that we bought more crap than needed when we went there and the food was never as good as what we can get locally grown.

Mitt Romney Vs Ron Paul - Who Do You Choose?

Been full tilt apathetic since the digital switch. If I didn't have to make a living of this damn thing I'd give up technology for the most part. If I'd known this is how we'd end up, I'da forsook my trs80. -
Ok. Quick search shows Posse Comitatus was gutted in 2007 defense spending bill then the changes were repealed in the 2008 spending bill.
-
Those are probably accurate estimates and projection of events. As far as Posse Comitatus, I recall grumblings about Bush wanting to review or make changes to it after Katrina. I'll do some looking around.

Mitt Romney Vs Ron Paul - Who Do You Choose?

If you think I am happy with Obama then as my grandma used to say... you've got another think coming. On another note are you a yankee or a southerner? -
Most everything else in the universe has a set cycle. Perhaps there is no avoiding it given a long enough time frame. We just move through periods transitioning from anarchy to tyranny to upheaval and or self destruction then back to anarchy... History is sketchy at best and difficult to learn from. Hell we can't prove what happened yesterday with 10 people watching much less 100-200 or 1000 years ago.

Mitt Romney Vs Ron Paul - Who Do You Choose?
sigmtnman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You seriously see this all as just having started four years ago? If so, then there is nothing I can do to explain it to you and it is apparent you are stuck in the left right paradigm as with the majority of folks. The slow frog boil is working. Why are you complicit in destroying our great country by continuing to support the lesser of evils? When running in 1994: Romney supported the Brady Bill and a ban on assult weapons. Romney supported gay marriage. Romney supported abortion. Romney supported homosexuals in the military.' as Governor: Romney raised Capital Gains and business taxes Romney raised the majority of fees for licenses and permits in MA. Romney passed a state funded healthcare initiative. Romney banned Assault Rifles You see a tomato and I see another freakin commie. -
I would rather the separation of church and state as I have no desire to have another persons religion forced onto me with changing demographics. The governments job is settle property rights, contract and common defense issues. Governments have shown themselves incapable of being moral and therefore incapable of enforcing morality. Help me understand which particular moral issues you wish the government to regulate. One at a time would be great so as not to try to tackle too much at once.

Thanks for the link. That's interesting. I had no idea that coin sellers were scaring folks into buying coins that way. I reckon I was just passing on hearsay that I've heard. I've never been concerned about confiscation, so that's never played into my decision. The maples and eagles I've had didn't come with a premium, so i got them over ingots as they look nicer and are more fun to toss around.

Not debating how many more election cycles you have seen. Hell you're OhShoot who has seen, done and knows everything there is to know. I've been watching the sky fall for too long and am over the prospect of worrying about it. If it finally falls, then so be it. It only came 16 years later than I expected. I support nothing about Mit, how about that? Yall are asking me to support someone who I view just as bad. I get that yall have a different perspective and that's great. Nothing like a little variation. The political factions in this country are to blame. Asking me to join the faction, when they put forth the status quo which I despise it ludicrous. One more step down the staircase does not benefit me any more than the possibility of a fast descent. At least if it moved quicker all the freakin frogs would actually recognize it. Hell, perhaps if it finally fell folks would get the hell out from in front of the idiot box, go outside and perform some real work and form their own opinions and thoughts. -

Ah darn, you got me on the principle. Thanks for correcting me. You view it as voting for a loser, I view it as supporting the person closest to my beliefs. It helps mine by teaching them not to settle and follow their principles even in the face of adversity. I feel for the folks who think the sky is falling and what not, but after watching the elections through my lifetime, I can only surmise it's because of people settling on who they think others will vote for. I'm certain that no one here can guarantee how either bozo will act or what they will or won't accomplish the next four years. So it's purely speculation at this point and well, speculation aint worth a crap to me. -

Nice pics! Glad you had a good time. We feel real lucky to be able to call the Overhill area our home. It's hard to convince the kids we are on vacation every weekend though I sure feel like it. -
I've seen a nice size 8-10 buck a couple doe and a fawn here on our property.

This is a very broad topic and damn near impossible for me to convey in a week of discussions, much less in a post or two, so I'll just throw some thoughts out. Does the virtuous man need a law to tell him to be good? Does the man without virtue care if there is a law? Samuel 8

Lester states similar thoughts to mine in a much more eloquent fashion than I could ever dream of so I'll kindly refer you to his posts on the matter. http://www.tngunowne...post__p__784085 We don't get any Libertarians here in Polk county and I'm not a politician. I'm not sure what the answer is, but when given the chance, I stand behind the person I feel is closest to my principals, regardless of his popularity.

Mitt Romney Vs Ron Paul - Who Do You Choose?
sigmtnman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The misconception is that I vote to help Romney or Obama. I don't. I vote for my posterity and principals. Perhaps it is selfish, but no more selfish than someone else telling me how to vote. -
The main reason folks consider coins, not numismatic mind you, is that it is actual currency and presumed to not be able to be confiscated by the .gov.
-
It used to be called State's Rights. The powers were left to the States and the people. Listen to Dr. Paul closely and he will explain it. Listen to the pundits on TV and you won't get it.
-
Nah Robert, Libertarians get that. The problem is that it is not in the Constitution for the fed to regulate morality.

I can attest to the USDA forest service getting a mess of new trucks with what appears to be a pretty good mix of GMs and Fords.
