  1. Awesome. Count me in.
  2. G19 for me. I like the finger grooves on a 3rd gen and dislike the RTF on a 4th.
  3.   I hit reply to say this
  4. I think you did fine. Alerting traffic was for the good of all parties involved.   No need to present in that situation. It would have taken things to a whole 'nother level. If you had a picture of his license plates and/or video of the incident, it would perhaps be worth a phone call to the cops.
  5. Bureaucrats and politicians should be changed as often as a baby's diaper. Send Mr. Sherwin packing.
  6. I wondered why my taxes were so high
  7. 30SF, hands down.   It is an absolutely perfect fit in my hands, accurate, and compact.
  8.   Not really. He's a convicted felon.
  9. Straight from the HCP section http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgunmain.shtml:   If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, the person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee.   If you're new to Tennessee, MAYBE you have a case, but only for 6  months from the day you took on utilities or got a DL, etc.   If you're born and raised here, forget about it - you established residency a long time ago ;). There is only one legal way to carry a firearm in this state. Just take the time and go get a TN HCP.
  10. He ain't an uncle and his name isn't Jak! :D
  11. Adding to what 101 said:   I make it a point to be unfailingly polite and courteous to people in town. Never EVER walk, talk, or act like a fool. Don't raise your voice or do something negative. Hold doors open. Smile at people. Act almost like you're running for office, minus the ridiculous politics.   I went to IL for business about a month ago and on the way back, OCed through Kentucky. We stopped to eat and I got a curious look from another person in the restroom. Turns out he was from IL and had no idea that people elsewhere could carry at all, much less OC. He was pro-gun. We ended up having a great conversation about weapons and target shooting. Now that he knows that he doesn't have to have a permit to OC in KY, guess what he'll be doing next time he passes through? :)
  12. Fortunately in this state, we have the explicit choice of both. It's not a CCW here - it's a HCP. Do what is best for you in your situtation.   I open carry at work and around town. I live in a small town, so it's no big deal. If I'm going into a larger area or occasionally out of state, I will generally conceal.   I OC probably 95% of the time. You will be surprised at how few people really pay attention to what's going on around them.
  13. How long ago did you order?
  14. Sad that McCain, Senator from Constitutional Carry Land, is saying anything besides no, never, and not a chance.
  15. Don't overthink and never be underaware. Keep calm and carry on.
  16. Whose handguard is it? If it's not a Diamondback product, perhaps there is recourse on the OEM?   Just the same, with plenty of handguard options, don't let a $100 fix stop you from enjoying your rifle.
  17. I will agree that perceiving a threat to the President is a bit fuzzy. But can you REALLY argue that he was rather clear that he'd shoot whomever set foot through his door to go gun grabbing? Here's a hint, it wouldn't be anyone from the pawn shop nearby... After seeing the original video, how can one really believe he was not outside the boundaries of free speech?
  18. You nailed it right there in the bold (my emphasis). To think and keep it to yourself is one thing. To announce and proclaim it for all the world to see is COMPLETELY another.
  19. So let me get this right. To some folks, just because Yeager's name is recognized, he isn't going to pay his bar tab at the end of the night? If James Holmes had a carry permit and in a "fit of rage" spouted off about killing people on YouTube, would we chalk that up to the first amendment or accept that he might mean it? C'mon folks, the first amendment protects the right to have your own OPINION and the right to share a VIEWPOINT, not offer a solution to the political problems by KILLING people. Had he talked about our nation's history of the people rising up against a government that oppressed them and how the people here won't accept oppression today, I would support the man 100%. You can't yank a permit over ideology. But he made very specific statements about killing people and even firing the first shot himself. I saw the video yesterday before he took it off YouTube, not read someone else's summary. Was he mad? You bet. And did I believe he was sincere? At the moment in time, I believe he meant every word. People foolishly do things in the heat of the moment that they often regret. Foolish or not, the key is that people still "do things" that result in very real consequences. As permit holders, I believe we are and SHOULD BE held to a higher standard. We must have better judgment, a cooler head, and more self-restraint. Yeager failed that test horribly and the state pulled his membership card accordingly. I will not have my rights, privileges, and protections afforded by the state of Tennessee thrown away because of one man's foolish act.
  20. Yes. The bullet diameter is the same, but. 357 is much hotter than. 38 special or. 38 +p. Don't shoot .357 mag from a .38 though! :)
  21. This kind of commentary is worth the price of a TGO membership all by itself.
  22. So much for their ideological opposition based on the "fortification" of our schools. Just proves, once more, they don't really have any convictions after all.
  23.   Shock and horror that the media barks when it suits their agenda, but ignores everything that doesn't. Thanks for the update, Dolomite!!
  24. Good write-up, Mr. Haas.   Fair, balanced, informative. I appreciated your mention and definition of "semi-automatic" and especially the background for "AR" NOT being short for assault rifle!   Could not discern a viewpoint, just a Joe Friday statement of facts.   Thanks again for taking input from all sides - even our sworn enemies. ;)
