  1. To the OP: Let the law be your guide. I have read and re-read and re-re-read the statutes regarding carry and will continue to do so. Read everything from when/where you can or can't carry, to what constitutes assault, to what your "affirmative defenses" are when a critical incident takes place. It's also not a bad idea to read through the criminal statutes and discover the legal definitions of key terms and different types of crime. It is extraordinarily helpful to have a working knowledge of the law and even more essential to you as a gun owner, and prospective carry permit holder, to KEEP EDUCATING YOURSELF on the world around you. Trying to learn the state you'll normally be in is bad enough (Tennessee), but always remember to keep up with other states' laws when you leave your home territory. Handgun Carry Permit T.C.A. 2. Full 10 round magazine plus one in the tube in a G30. If you are unwilling to carry a chambered weapon, leave it at home. The time it takes to chamber your weapon causes you to lose the element of surprise, valuable time, and quite possibly the first shot.

    Ugly Glock?

The Joker called. He wants his gun back.
  4. J R CARBINE - EMF Company Anyone have any experience with this? I think a pistol-caliber AR that uses a Glock/S&W/1911 magazine is a very neat idea. Thoughts? Reviews? First hand experiences?
  5. Taking interest and staring at the Glock model charts about 1,000 times. I like to know as much as I can about things that interest me.

    9 or 40?

+1. Had the same once upon a time and will say it's a great arrangement!
  7. G23. If 13 rounds of .40 stopping power don't get the job done, you have bigger problems.
  8. To cycle 1,000 rounds through the weapon, in order to know its reliability - sure. To literally own 1,000 rounds at all times, not necessarily.
  9. Recoil and sound are directly related to the round/load used, not so much the weapon itself. If you didn't already know, .357 Magnums will accept a .38 Special and .38 Special +p. Conversely, .38 Specials will not accept a .357 Magnum; make sure any weapon you use a .38 Special +p is marked as such!
  10. I will stand up and be the whipping post, as I am sure I'm in the minority here. I believe strongly in the HCP system and think it is the only way to go. I can support unpermitted carry in a vehicle - thugs should fear the consequences of carjacking as much as breaking into a home. However, I am not in favor of allowing permitless carry on your person. Why? It's simple. You don't get the privilege of driving without a license and the minimum criteria that must be met. You don't get the privilege of marriage without a license. Now you have to undergo pre-marital counseling to get a license. You don't get the privilege of being in business without a license. Want to operate a restaurant? Got to go through a health inspection. The HCP carry privilege is my choice for a reason - basic knowledge is presented in class, you show you know how to fire a weapon, and most importantly, you've gone through a background check. When you see a FTF buyer's HCP, you can be highly confident that they are legal to buy your weapon. I don't want every non-felon in the world carrying without going through the process. There's plenty of non-felony disqualifiers on the HCP application for a REASON. Don't mistake anything I am saying. I have my HCP and am very proud of it and obviously support the right to carry. But I support the properly screened and informed right to carry. Edit: This isn't a thread hijack. Haslam says he supports unpermitted carry - this is my view on that issue.
  11. If you thought it was worthwhile enough to actually buy the car safe, my thoughts are to put it to work. Beats not having it. A weapon without laser grips still goes bang.
  12. Wow... healthy $1 jump. I'd gladly still pay that for brass over the Russian stuff.
  13. ...and replaced by Tula 9 mm for the same price point. I went to make a purchase while out of state and discovered this. Also the same case at home. Anyone else noticed this?
  14. Or you have the funds left to buy a Ruger 10/22 or two and a BOATLOAD of ammo.
  15. Poll added
  16. I'm contemplating a wheel gun and am looking for the pros and cons of hammer vs hammerless revolvers.. say a S&W 637 vs S&W 642. It may be occasionally used as a carry piece, but I generally carry a semi-automatic. All thoughts and insights are appreciated!
  17. Any recommendations on how to access TGO best from a Blackberry?
  18. Nice article. Now if we could only get the east coast establishment here to sign on...
  19. Echoing a few others, don't look past the Glock 19. While it's not as "slim" as others out there, how on earth can you pass on 15 rounds of protection? Besides, with the great new self protection rounds out there, you can get a lot of bang in that caliber these days. Welcome to Tennessee. I'm going to that part of the country next week and feel like I'm going into Commie territory because I don't get carry reciprocity.
  20. I went to HCP class with my father on his birthday on a Saturday (my treat - no wonder I'm the best!) and filed my paperwork the next business day. When did his get filed? Literally the last day before his 6 months expired. His permit has been issued for about a year now and the only time I've seen him armed is at the range. He seems to think he'll never need it.. that it will never happen to him. He's "thought" about carrying when going to Memphis. But, he wants the option in case there's ever madness in the streets and things are really wild. I remind him every other day that you carry because things go wrong when you don't expect.. nobody advertises bad intentions ahead of time.
  21. +1 Bought from Justin at a gun show. Great folks to deal with. Very fair prices.
  22. Try searching your last name and zip code only. There have been times I searched my last name only, last name + first initial, and zip only and didn't show up. But when I do last name and zip only, I pop up every time. Don't count yourself as being unlisted just yet. YMMV.
  23. Look like this, with a red seal?
  24. The whole point of cash is anonymity. Per the currency itself: "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private." So if they take cash, they have to take all forms of US currency.
