  1. Crockett. The "facilities" are nice and rather clean. Nicest park in the state IMHO.
  2. My dad's philosophy is this: Discipline when young. Shared decision making in the teen years. Advice in adult years. You can't force someone to drink water, but you can advise how important it is to survival. I didn't like it back then, but I now appreciate being "drug" out of bed to do chores on Saturday mornings. It's not about being free labor, it's about learning life lessons. It takes time and maturity to understand.
  3. You bet. I was moderator on a high school sports forum for 4 long years and it really wore me out. Fortunately, I had great backup from the forum owner when things got hot. I think you do a great job of backing your mods up. And to Daniel, it's not always easy to speak up and declare your own self to have gone too far. +1 to you, sir.
  4. I am all for cleaning up the streets, but I think your methodology is very dangerous. Yes, they are dangerous people who take pride in breaking the law. But they are still due their day in court under the American justice system. Shoot on sight and arrest without probable cause are the hallmarks of a truly lawless society.
  5. I like the tactical Carmex. Do you have enough room on your person for all that?
  6. I've been using one with an Officer size 1911. It's a decent holster, but it requires a firm tug for presentation. Maybe with time it will have Supertuck-type presentation qualities. For the money, it's a decent buy.
  7. The state of Tennessee needs to incorporate this video into the next generation of HCP education.
  8. I have a railed 1911 coming next week and I want to find a holster that will hold the weapon with light attached. The light is a TLR-1. I am willing to consider any material. Just having a hard time finding something that is pre-made, hoping that someone knows a good place to look... better yet, a ready made product. Thanks in advance!!
  9. You bet The question was posed and still hasn't been answered: How much DO you have to drink to make a post like the OP did?
  10. THIS is why Obama isn't making his liberal followers "happy". He has a much grander scheme at play. Wow. Just cruising until he can get a second term and then he's going to try and run the table.
  11. Excellent. Just as planned.
  12. Gun control is hitting your target! Good stuff!!
  13. Please note the forum subcategory, appropriately titled General Off-Topic On a more serious note, this thread is FULL of win!!
  14. +1 on that. Your last line of defense, if you used a credit card, is to have your credit card bank duke it out for you. Drop the word "fraud" and they will shift into high gear. Good luck and always know who your seller is.
  15. Another : Tennessee (and most Southern states too) is a right-to-work state. You can be fired for any reason. You can quit for any reason. No explanation necessary. Tennessee allows employers to drug test at will, and if you fail your test, it is used as a reason to deny unemployment benefits. Why, you ask? The government isn't going to require a private employer to fund a plague that has infested this country, so why should it turn around and fund that same bad habit in the employer's place? It isn't, thus the unemployment benefit laws being written the way they are. I believe that the same logic and thesis should apply to all government benefits. Those funds are supposed to support basic human needs - food, water, housing, etc. - and if the beneficiary is frugal and thoughtful enough, they can have enjoyment with what's left. What many people have failed to recall is that unemployment benefits are supposed to help fill the gap between stints of gainful employment. The current economy is dually noted - this is why the unemployment benefits keep being extended. What unemployment benefits were not supposed to do was finance the old lifestyle on the newer, smaller income level. When the harvest is smaller, you're supposed to tighten the belt and do without the nice extras that we Americans think we're entitled to. Social Security wasn't designed to be a retirement plan. It was designed to be a supplement to your retirement income/savings. By the way, the Social Security Trust Fund does not pay out current benefits. It represents the SURPLUS of taxes over and above paid benefits since the first check was issued in 1940. That all being said, I think Florida is doing a good thing to do testing. My only difference with them is that the folks being tested shouldn't be paying for tests.
  16. I am as interested as the next guy, but David hasn't solidified that date. Don't jump to conclusions yet.
  17. Nice article! Very straight forward, clean, and unbiased. I think the author can expect plenty more help from the firearm community with future write ups.
  18. The replies are very supportive, too. I nearly got my arm took off by a pit before I carried. Stories like this remind me why I do now. Good for this guy and moving fast!
  19. NY Times article with Mike included, in case anyone missed it in the past. Good article.. a fair article.. read it online before I heard about it here. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/04/us/04guns.html You guys gotta remember something... How can we ever get "good" press if nobody speaks up and shares our viewpoint on things? I'd jump at the chance if I reloaded. Hope someone speaks up for us.
  20. One of us mere mortals would be in jail facing loss of license, fines up the wazoo, and some time for reckless endangerment. Just a toy? Please. Not on public highways...
  21. I have a recommendation. If you find a pistol that meets all your requirements, but is a bit small in your hands, put a Pachmyr or Hogue grip on it. That will thicken things up and make it a perfect fit.
  22. Just nod and smile. A friendly face goes a long way. In the meantime, you're legal. That's all that matters.
  23. With all the varmints running around these days (2 legged and 4 legged), I don't even go to the mailbox unarmed any more. Before I carried, I nearly had my arm taken off by a "friendly" neighborhood dog. I swore never again. Good for the homeowner. You never know when trouble will come knocking or swinging.
  24. What is interesting is that MOST of the states that don't recognize a TN permit are north of 10 points (i.e. non-red). There are some exceptions here, but no coincidences.
