Ohio police threaten to execute permit holder video
Glock30 replied to aquaman67's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Unspeakable, inexcusable, and wholesale unacceptable. For a cop to come out and more or less express intent to commit murder is just unbelievable. The good news: I believe the good people of Canton, OH have a full appreciation of what took place and this man is gonna have his justice in the end. Ironically to me, the permit holder took a screwing while the cops ran off the guy with a false name. -
I got my first AR a year ago and now own 4.... ALL from TGO members(thanks guys). My first and still favorite is a brand new Doublestar I acquired that had been assembled by a member here. Buying a stock rifle for a good price and then upgrading things as your budget/desire allows can make you perfectly happy. You don't have to go all out on the first one. I started by playing around with things on one rifle and ended up liking it so much that I did the same to all. Mine all have: Magpul buttstock Hogue grip Inexpensive quad rail Foregrip Inexpensive light and converted scope mount Red dot optic You can get different colors or configurations on similar items to give each weapon a little bit of character. You also don't have to spend megabucks to get the functionality you desire. THIS is the beauty of the AR platform - if you can dream it, you can probably find it or adapt it. I've yet to build my first but I've pondered it a LOT. I'm afraid the disease would overwhelm me if I did.

Take a long term view. Perhaps you don't have anyone to pass them to right now, but in the future, perhaps you will. Imagine how valuable this kind of foresight would be if tax stamps ever increased from the current $200 level.

Web Training May Suffice for Wisconsin Concealed-Carry

You can kiss reciprocity goodbye with a lot of states. The good state of Tennessee recognizes all permits, but most states look for requirements similar to their own. -

Who wrote this article, some high school intern? Not well written or informed. -
Firearms Freedom Act - Court Challenge Underway
Glock30 replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I read that last night. WSJ has been running several good firearm-related articles as of late. -
I can't speak for Delta, but I can speak for Southwest and US Airways. Both were similar, per TSA guidelines. I put a gun lock on my Glock, emptied the magazines, and put my ammo in a box - all inside the standard Glock case. After that, I locked the box across the handle with a padlock. Keep your keys handy; when you declare your weapon, you will fill out a firearm declaration card - personal info, flight number, dated and signed. This will be placed inside your weapon's container. After security screening, you may be asked to acknowledge your bag and asked for your keys. I have had my bag inspected in my presence once and the other two occasions, nothing happened. It was not a big deal on any occasion. Just make sure you declare at check-in and lock your weapon up.

I love cats and for that reason, my pet cat stays inside. That being said, if it's a nuisance and not being destructive, let the local humane society pick them up. This is what they do best.

Don't be shy, walk proud with that thing! You will be surprised to discover how few people really take notice. I OC frequently and rarely get a second look and have never had a comment.

Who elses property taxes/appraisal went up?
Glock30 replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Property taxes get paid because they will take your property and sell it for backtaxes after a while. Sales taxes are capped by state law. No buying = no revenue. I'm with Dolomite - I'd rather see spending-related taxes versus asset-based taxes. I'd also rather see a flat income tax and/or import VAT versus a "progressive" sliding-up scale tax bracket. -
Many thanks for the best firearm site in Tennessee, bar none. And for turning my mere interest in weapons into an addiction.

Here is some excellent recent case law on out-of-state permit holders who visit Chicago. Reading all the way though is well worth your time. http://www.state.il.us/court/opinions/SupremeCourt/2011/April/109130.pdf

To the OP: I respectfully submit that if you feel that way, don't get a carry permit. Consider the reasons you applied for one; some of us wish to carry anywhere and everywhere legally possible. The HCP holder needs to stay away from a situation that some folks would choose to use their fists. We are obligated to have the better judgment and WALK AWAY. If you don't have that better judgment, don't get a permit and don't carry a handgun. Carrying a weapon is a responsibility. Edit: No offense taken whatsoever. I don't think most folks will be offended.. you're just probably in for more than you bargained!

Picatinny, also known as a 1913 rail... they're one and the same. Nice picks! All you need now is a good rail light... I have a Streamlight TLR-1. You can get them for around $100 shipped online. Great light!! Now all you need is an AR-15. -
The Tennessee HCP is more widely recognized outside our borders. Promise it's worth the wait When I got mine two years ago, it only took 10 days to issue from the day I finished my part. It took another week after that to receive it, for a round trip total of 17 days. My prediction is that it will be in your hands by the middle of July.

Did you realize he was in England? Not that it matters, just something to keep in perspective.

"Lawful" is ultimately defined by a judge. There probably isn't much case law as most folks will just move about their business.

Carry or not to carry???....IWB or OWB???
Glock30 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Be legal and be not concerned with others. Make sure your caliber/carry round of choice has knockdown power. That being said, exercise your right to choose IWB/OWB under Tennessee law. -
Usually wise to take a familiar weapon to something so important. All things considered, mission accomplished.

In the Tri-Cities? Crockett is in Lawrenceburg.

I highly recommend you get the BATFE to put that in writing. I, for one, would be more than a little nervous if my buyer's tags were out of state and the driver license was in-state. A BATFE letter, especially if it's addressed to you, should put any seller at ease.
