I am building a 9mm Glock magazine-fed rifle, based on a DDLES lower. Everything I'm reading suggests they're as good as advertised. Now if they'll just get here already... I've read a lot of unfavorable reviews about the Oly builds, though I have no personal experience. Keep in mind, there are a couple different options on 9mm builds. 1. Standard lower with 9mm magwell block. 2. CMMG/DDLES purpose build 9mm lowers (Colt style) 3. Oly Arms/Lone Wolf/DDLES purpose built 9mm lowers (Glock style) You may be surprised, but buying a dedicated, purpose-built 9mm lower is roughly the same cost as a standard lower + magwell block. The plus is that there are no adjustments or potential frustration to start up. It's "plug and play". The minus is that it's a 9mm forever. You can't part it out if you want to do something else. Figuring out what you want is half the fun.

Executive order, Internet Off Switch!!
Glock30 replied to partypilot1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Obama must have figured out that if he's going to install himself as dictator, he's going to need to strike the Amendments in order. Skipping the 1st Amendment and going straight to the 2nd won't accomplish anything. First, take away the right to say something, THEN go gun grabbing, not the other way around. -
Zimmerman is now apparently a child molester.

Universal Media Playbook, chapter two: If you can not convict in the court of public opinion, try character assassination. -
Also, it's not "going Zimmerman" on someone. For goodness sake, we have enough struggles getting reasonable media treatment. The last thing we need to do is call something what it is not. It is up to us as a community to not create controversy with the way we talk and converse among ourselves. It is defense of a third party, not "going Zimmerman".

This is why I carry. Stop the threat and a possible murder in progress. Speaking for me only, I couldn't live with myself knowing I could have made a difference. Hopefully someone is with me and can dial 911 or another bystander can dial.

AR fans Ck this out Must have for your rifle

Been aware for a while. High on the cool factor, low on the financial sense. So it's aluminum over plastic? Ok. How bout two aluminum GI mags coupled together? Now I'm at +20% capacity. Two brand spanking new D&Hs w/ Magpul followers are ~$22 (much less if you have a good supply of used GIs and rebuild kits). Cheap couplers online are $6-$7. So for ~$28 I have 60 rounds ready to go (or 50 cents per round of capacity). The 50 round mag is $189 (or $3.78 per round of capacity). In absolute dollars, I can have 6 2x30 setups and $21 for a tool bag to put 'em in. Neat but just not financially practical. -
Four Tennessee men face charges in gun sales

Wow. And check out the list of firearms up for forfeiture. 16 Colt Pythons from one guy. -
Happy birthday Gordon. TGO is a better place because of you.

What a huge disappointment. I hope Boehner is a man of his word.

Sigma .40 was my first weapon. I kept it for 6 months and traded it for a Glock (which I wanted in the first place) the week I took my HCP course. Not a bad gun, but spend a little more cash and get a better known and more easily accessorized weapon. JMHO.

.22 magnum is going to be your best bet under the circumstance. Like cardcutter said, the NAA line is going to fit the size requirement as well. http://northamericanarms.com/firearms/magnums.html They also offer .25 ACP semi-autos, but my personal, unscientific opinion is that a .22 magnum is going to be a better caliber.

If you're in the market for parts, now is a good time to buy 'em... http://www.armytimes.com/news/2012/04/army-carbine-remington-042212w/?utm_source=ap_rss From what the article says, Colt might be on their way out on the M4, too.

Zimmerman gets $150k Bail, may get to leave FL
Glock30 replied to Glock30's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think $150k speaks volumes as to the charges against GZ. I think murder 2 has been a ploy all along to get a plea bargain at man 1 or man 2... Just what does this prosecutor think she can convict with? As I have learned so far in life, sometimes those who talk the biggest and the loudest are the ones who can't back anything up... -

I don't think the curfew will be necessary. I mean, really, would he go parading around in public? -

Storage, organization and stockpiling. How do you do it?
Glock30 replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I prefer 30 caliber ammo cans. Have some 50 cals coming. After I put whatever contents I wanted in the ammo cans, I used white electrical tape as the writing surface and noted the contents (caliber, headstamp, if any, manufacturer, etc). I'll probably use a different (and less frequently used) color, such as yellow, to note a different caliber or some noteworthy difference. -
Does your girlfriend/wife know the combo to your safe?
Glock30 replied to glowdotGlock's topic in General Chat
Yep. When I'm not home, her Glock comes out of the safe and takes the place of mine on the night stand. -
Welcome to the sickness. You won't be able to stop at just one.

With kids around, either wear it or lock it up.

Indeed. How can regular folks step up, as the majority would advocate, without carrying everywhere?

I'm amused. Ol' Bloomy says: "These laws are vigilantism masquerading as self-defense, and getting 25 states to pass them is one of the best con jobs the NRA’s leaders have ever pulled off,†Bloomberg said. “They don’t give a damn whether innocent people are shot and killed. And they don’t give a damn about the integrity of the American justice system. They want to create a nation where disputes are settled by guns instead of gavels, and where suspects are shot by civilians instead of arrested by police. These laws destabilize our justice system, they degrade our society, and they destroy innocent lives. We can’t be silent — and we can’t let them stand.†Pathetic. I recall hearing an old lawyer's adage once. Bloomberg's rambling reminds me of it, as follows: If the law is on your side, argue the law. If the facts are on your side, argue the fact. And if neither is on your side, pound the table.
