Still working on a sighting system for the M1 Carbine project. Found a small rail with dovetail mount that looks like a winner. Need a small sight, less than 3" overall, smaller (shorter) if available Budget is under $300, would prefer $200 or less, but have learned not to go too "budget" Help!

Yet another thread related to my M1 Carbine project. I have decided after my last outing, I hate the railed front handguard. After 50 rounds it's a heat sink and gets ridiculously hot. Also not a fan of the scout style set up. I've re installed the over receiver mount (no optics) and will run another 100+ to evaluate extraction. If successful, I will get a good optic . 100 yards and less, realistically 50 and less. Some kind of illumination 1" tube. $300 or less. Does it exist? I've been unsuccessful.

I'm about 80% on a Burris Fastfire, but have seen mostly positive reviews on the Ultrashot / Ultrashot Plus. Anyone have experience with this brand?
