  1. For guns, I want to get the M1 carbine to reliable status, the Walther PPS m2 has piqued my curiosity, and perhaps add a theta trigger to the P10C. Adding a stabilizing brace to the PPS-43c is also penciled in. Gear wise, other than buying ammo, I think I am in good shape. Training is also penciled in for spring and fall/winter. The snowflake in me avoids summer exertion.
  2. Not ice, frozen urine
  3. To start with a comedic note "...I studied psychology, so I'm right in there..."
  4. After the M1 carbine went down, my current confidence level for use as for HD / PDW dropped considerably. Until I re-commit to testing after fixing, I want to mount my Burris FF3 on my M&P Sport II. Standard fixed front sight with flip-up rear. Height to co-witness? Thanks as always for your collective help and guidance!
  5. This is a simulation though I urge you to view to the end and listen to the comments of Stewart Russell at 3:55 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_J._Russell Leave Asimov's Laws where they belong, on the pages and in the fantasy of science fiction.
  6. Despite the cold and 3 hour cruise both ways, I am glad I attended. This is my third or fourth Training Day with Randy; self assessment vs. skill development. Being practical and only tactical by accident, my kit was pretty basic by design; what and how do I typically conceal carry. 75B, N82 Tactical, mags stowed in pockets or simply secured in my waistband for drills. I would rate my overall mechanics fair; no issues sweeping aside layered cover garments and presenting my pistol. My holster slowed down my draw and interfered with getting a consistent initial grip. The full sweat shield is a boon and curse. I've engaged GjohnsonIV to modify the sweat shield with a combat cut. I always enjoy the shooting parts and while the class did run over due to the timed drills, the Fed Air Marshall qualifier is pretty fun. My shooting was average, I was pulling slightly down and right. I think I figured it out after the fact; consistent grip on draw coupled with squeezing my support hand fingers. My secret Santa gift was Fairbairn's 'Get Tough' The illustrations are as interesting as the content. For a 100% average sized guy like me, there is some pretty useful techniques to avoid becoming a victim when a gun is not available for defensive purposes. On a side note, I am trying to find a better link for the Fleet Marine Force Reference Publication of 'Shoot to Live' https://archive.org/stream/Shooting_to_Live_Fairbairn_and_Sykes_FMFRP_12-81/Shooting_to_Live_Fairbairn_and_Sykes_FMFRP_12-81_djvu.txt After class, I ran a few rounds through my M1 carbine, experienced some failures to eject, packed it away. Inspection at home revealed the extractor had broken. The leading edge which catches the rim sheared off. Strange and could not determine if the metal had any crystalization (replaced with old new stock) Looking forward to attending another session with Randy.
  7. Bob, missed you, hope your bride is doing well!
  8. Interesting, the only time (s) Linus purposely discards his security blanket is proclaiming the birth of Christ (maybe Schultz's sly move to subliminally sell your security is in Christ? - I hope so) The other is wrapping the tree; perhaps a message of transferring security to benefit others. I don't recall any comic strip or video where Linus is without his blanket. My wish has come true. We were blessed this year with no major events, so we were faithful with our tithe. This year we will make a contribution to both KARM and The Angel Tree.
  9. I have a 9mm carbine, ran it through a one day class, kept up with the Tavors, ARs and AKs. If I had a 10mm handgun, I'd consider a carbine to go with it.
  10. My brother just returned from a 4 year deployment in Korea. His opinion is non-nuclear military action would resemble causality rates on par with the Battle of Somme, a generation of North and South Koreans and their allies lost in days or weeks. Artillery and Rockets? Add population density, north and south.
  11. I think you got one with the attitude, "You show me the rules and I'll show you how smart I am."
  12. This could be purposely faked based on some of the snide comments by the reporter. I saw some humor and had some chuckles. https://pjmedia.com/trending/teachers-attend-lggbdtttiqqaap-sensitivity-training-wtf/
  13. Welcome!
  14. Sportman's Guide has listed them for $439.
  15. If they're releasing 80,000, what kind of price point can we expect. I'd like to see 3-4 million M1 carbines come home from Korea.
  16. $169 for an RP9 after rebate? I don't think they were planning on using this product as a tax write-off.
  17. I ended up with a P10C when my buddy discovered the 2.0 I think the CZ is pretty darn nice (my mag release is stiff as well) he feels the 2.0 is better.
  18. I am thankful for the free gift of eternal life. My son received a call yesterday that his paternal grandmother passed away 30 minutes prior. I believe there was a party in Heaven yesterday. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your example so that I may have a moral compass and the strength to be a small, encouraging beacon of light in the darkness.
  19. We monitor my Russell-terrier mix's weight, 22-25 lbs. Years ago she started drawing up her rear leg while on walks, either or, a few un-interrupted steps, back to normal. Frequency increases, off to the Vet. Discovered terrier breeds with straighter rear legs have shallow patellar grooves and the knee cap can slide in and out. If no pain, don't spend the $800-$1200. Next trip to the store found dog treats with glucosamine chondroitin. 2 - 3 day as part of treat regimen, 10 years later, we can just now hear her joints starting to pop from time to time. 15ish years old, rescued from an abusive home.
  20. Why does this quote from Atlas Shrugged haunt me: There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kinds of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of lawbreakers—and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."
  21. To clarify, remove the butt plate, sorry. Retain the two legs Attach brace to legs. My original plan was to SBR it, just considering a possible and faster alternative.
  22. I keep forgetting we have a RK near Knoxville
  23. It's not in SBR form. The attached complete folding stock is still in permanently disabled configuration. Being a novelty firearm of recent manufacture, a legal, un-restricted modification would be cheaper and easier to later transfer and/or transport than a trusted firearm
  24. Being thrifty, I have been looking at different ways to make my more functional. I may have stumbled on to a solution using and AK brace. I'll need to do some more measuring and research, but here's what I have: 1. Remove buttstock and destroy 2. Extend legs of non functional stock and lock permanently. 3. Attach stabilizing brace to legs of stock. Or, totally remove stock and see if I can attack a hinged type. More research and measuring needed. Thoughts, opinions, advice?
  25. New career: specialized period movie prop guy, live action, why CGI just won't work. With period correct uniforms spanning it's service life, not only the prop guy, but in the movie and credits as Gatlin Gun Operator #1........Hozzie Seriously though, a lot of history can be taught, from manufacture to end use for fun and organized demonstrations. Good luck, please keep us posted!
