  1. Thanks for the heads up on the Starbuck series. On my last trip out, I picked up Brian Kilmeade's Washington's Secret Six as I binge watched TURN on Netflix.
  2. If you are or call yourself a Christian, the book of James has an interesting passage, "don't judge men on the clothes they wear." Best I can tell, our skin is the first layer of clothing for our bodies. Regarding people who look different from us, our reptillian brain AUTOMATICALLY profiles every unknown contact as friend, foe, or potential mate. I think a Muslim may be uncomfortable as I have personally posted "facts" of one to fifteen percent are of the chop your head off persuasion. I set the tone of, "prove your not," in those posts.
  3. If I was a loyal WM customer or employee, I'd be rather put off by the labeling of WM attendees as trash. The entrances to WM are dangerous, not because of white trash, but because folks are idiots behind the wheel. Cursing in public at someone; go for it. It is confrontational, it is NOT designed to de-escalate, and gets the attention of others in public who may think your use of profanity is representative of your own trashiness. What should Travis have done? In the current state of affairs where employees get fired for following policy, I'm glad my role is no longer serving general retail public. Be on the defense always and keep you head on a swivel? The cheap Chinese ammo reminded me of War Dogs...is all the ammo in WM from China, re packed in knock off boxes?
  4. They prevail, even when the other team slips a weapon onto the field http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2018/07/daniel-zimmerman/karma-lions-eat-rhino-poachers-in-south-africa/
  5. So you HAVE met him...
  6. The boat shows start in February, sellers get more motivated in November as the holidays loom.
  7. I have a few boat dealers as clients...they get forced into bundle pricing on more entry-level stuff, the next bump in price is psuedo custom rigged. Can wait until end of season, then sit on yours until spring? Do you research now, when out and about and you see brands of interest being filled with gas or beer, ask the owner about his ride. Going back to Tracker as your baseline for comparison, visit a bass pro and lay hands on, look at fit and finish, welds, etc. I personally think they have a decent product at a competitive price point. Good luck with your search - keep us updated!
  8. Finding a good hull and running gear, then the motor could save you a bunch of money. May be an option depending on how soon you want to fish. My only experience with a Honda is my buddy has a 50 4 stroke on his pontoon, it is quiet and smooth.
  9. We have monitored security and signs posted on the 4 corners. 14 year old deaf alarm dog...if she sees a stranger, bark on. Asleep or looking the other way, you are good to go. Motion lights, 4 corners. No overgrown hedges, bushes, trees. Handguns strategically placed John Wick style. Not actually, I do keep most secured. Master bedroom can be defended with handgun; shotgun and carbine also at hand...it might really be John Wick. No kids, no reason to defend other parts of the house. Not SWAT trained to clear a house, so I'll wait patiently. From my perspective: 1. No one home, break in, I got insurance 2. Home, before bedtime, forced entry, I'm armed 3. Forced entry, after bedtime, hunker down and know if that BG comes up the stairs, we're going to need ServPro. Cameras would be an extra deterrent and for 'out of site of road' or more rural property owners, a nice doorbell. Added value, could help ID perp and/or vehicle.
  10. I get to Erwin about once a quarter. Any railroad history in your family? And...my 2013 Garmin took me from Erwin to Seymour, the back way. I'm pretty lucky to drive for my job.
  11. We started with a pontoon with 90 Johnson. Great boat, but I kept it in the water. Trailering was not even considered. Wish I still had it, but just had to have a bigger boat...
  12. I think Tracker gets knocked like entry Bayliner models in the recreation side. I think using them as a base line will help compare other stuff at similar price points. Is thicker aluminum / precision welding critical, motor brand / size, etc. We exited recreational boating about 5 years ago, if I did it again, I would definitely under need / want / desire balanced against usage.
  13. They do, with different motivation, which is why I don't think they're heroes. 1. Strings are attached when they help 2. The encounter is exceptional depending on their agenda 3. Respect for others...is based on what you can do for them 4. I don't see much optimism in these encounters because they are one and done. What makes heroes and extraordinary people regular Joes is humility
  14. I don't believe it. You have skills and talents only you have. You have experiences unique to you. I can't believe you haven't influenced at least one person's life in a positive way. Have you ever posted words of comfort to other members on this forum? Greg, you ain't so ordinary!
  15. Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged wrote some prophetic words regarding selectively enforced and interpreted law. Simply a mechanism to make law breakers because .gov doesn't have power over the Innocent.
  16. I recently heard my friend, Kevin Brown, speak at a executive level event. I've heard Kevin speak before, but this time he perfectly described my hero, the man who saved my life. As a motivational speaker, Kevin teaches about the Hero Effect. We have been told and lied to our entire lives; that heroes are simply ordinary people who do extraordinary things. If that statement is true, Michael Jordan is regular guy like me who just so happens to show up when he hits the basketball court. Consider the talent pool on this forum, we can achieve things that Michael Jordan and the Bulls never imagined. If you tell the same lie, it becomes reality. Stop thinking you are ordinary! I believe we are all extraordinary, we are created in the image of God. If you don't subscribe to my perspective, think about the biological science of pro-creation; you beat out about 100,000,000 other candidates for the job of being you. World view of God view, we are all extraordinary and can choose to be a hero. Who are your Heroes? When you look in the mirror, I hope they are the people who got you were are and we're you are going. They should be the people who made you or make you better today than you were yesterday. Note, "were you are / were you are going" If you look in the mirror and say, "I've arrived," don't forget to add, "and ready to be left behind." Remember, in order to arrive, you had to get off the train that got you there and once you get off, that train is not stopping. As an acronym, Heroes: Help others with no strings attached. No strings attached is hard; we live in a society where negotiation is normal. We negotiate with clients, co workers, spouses, partners, and kids. We expect something in return, for salespeople, where is the WIIFM? Every encounter is an exceptional experience, Heroes encourage, empower, enlighten, and encourage. They take responsibility and treat others with respect, they recognize they people the encounter as just as extraordinary as they are. Heroes are optimistic, the understand probabilities, but see possibilities to take us to a better place. The attributes of a Hero also describe great leaders. Leaders show up and when they show up, they are willing and able to help. They take the time to positively impact the individuals around them to make them better. The hope and optimism that surrounds great leaders and heroes comes from the possibility that one interaction can positively affect hundrsds and thousands. That's why it's called the Hero Effect and we can all do it. But what if we don't? An organization, team, family, or friendship will break up and be devalued if folks stop showing up, when leadership is someone else's job.. Each of us can choose to show up every day. Whether you are serving or being served, you can apply it to your professional and personal life. It is independent of title or official position. Start each day with the mantra, "I am extraordinary, I can achieve extraordinary things and make a difference in the lives of the people I meet today.
  17. Thanks for posting, forgot about his site. Stumbled across it years ago when I was going in the micro direction.
  18. Fwiw, I like getting certificates and have retained all the timed drill sheets I've shot under instruction. I read a blurb in a Mas article where he mentioned keeping training records (both classroom and range) can be positively spun in a court of law. You just didn't strap on a gun and go dancing... Would like to attend, but 6 hours of fun in the sun, late July in Northern Alabama, requires more bada$$ery than I have.
  19. Leroy, are you on a first-tweet basis with the Donald?
  20. Hi all, I wanted to share a recent experience with this organization, which started 3/2017. My 75B Omega needed to be fixed, I decided on CGW based on reviews and was curious to compare the finished product to my CZC SDP. Side note: prefer the Omega trigger, the SDP is standard so I can't give an unbiased comparison. The triggers and frames are just different enough that it is mood vs. preference in selection. CGW manages imbound work to ensure promised turn and delivery times. I was notified about 6 weeks after initial contact, "if you are still interested, we are ready and will deliver in 6 - 8 weeks (for my project) Received it back 6/2017; they installed their Omega kit. GtG was happy. Recently ran it through a Randy class, still happy EXCEPT, one occurrence of: DA trigger pull, hammer cocks and drops to half cock, release trigger to reset, hammer falls to rest. Tap and rack, last I thought of it. Popped off a few hundred more rounds of dry and live fire, above malfunction repeated more than 5, less than 10 times In dry fire, I tried to make it fail, increasing / decreasing speed of and number of trigger pull strings (did fail) Shoot an email off to CGW. Response within 24 hours, we think we know what the problem is (DA Roller) here is a FedEx label, send it in. Excellent customer service. My expectations; 6-8 weeks, place me in order with your work flow and I don't expect to bump someone who waited patiently like I did. Wait time was maybe 10 days, receive a call from Scott. Ready to go and will have it 6/28. Exceeded expectations as David and team are prepared for after the sale service work. It was the DA roller, just one of those things. Fitted a better sized and machined part. Fitted in that Scott took an extended period of time troubleshooting to find the optimal size roller by dry firing to ensure his gunsmithing was spot on. Very apologetic it had to go back, but who cares, since he told me the DA is now "pretty darn good." Shows the level of professionalism, trouble shoot, don't just replace parts. Another GtG win in this scenario. CGW met service expectations on the original project, exceeded expectations on the service work and quality is top notch. I asked Scott what else could be done to the pistol. Figured since they had it, I was willing to let them make some money off me. Other than a barrel bushing for 25+ yard accuracy, sights, grips, and refinishing, it's done. Will update after I use it up this weekend
  21. In Hombrecito's Search and Hombrecito's War, the .45-70 is the main characters rifle of choice
  22. To the last man by Jeff Shaara is quite good for anyone interested in WW1. Will check this one out next time I'm on the road traveling. Gone for soldiers is also by Jeff, stand alone Mexican-American War, starring many of your favorites of the Civil War.
  23. One of my favorites
  24. Was over at SIA today and got to handle one. First impression; hefty like my SP, with a pretty sizable grip. The surface didn't feel particularly smooth and the sharp edges, especially on the trigger guard was not inspiring. After being disappointed in the finish, I simply set it back down without dry firing. I would have bought one of their used SPs for $499 vs. $799 (I think) for the Colt. Side note; they have 2 new MP40 9mm in stock $599. Seemed to be well assembled extremely large pistol. Don't need a $600 novelty gun, but it would complement my PPS 43c. Now I'm thinking about layaway...
  25. I'm a historical fiction / plausible alternative history fan, with a lot of other stuff on my shelf. A good setting is as important to me as a good plot, with a vivid imagination I can transport to Agnicourt, 1632, the Napoleonic Wars to modern day locales. Series I'm working through: Eric Flint's 1632 Cromwell's Sharpe adventures Waiting on Martin to put out the next GOT novel, but having watched past the books, not sure I even care.
