While on the road in Alabama, I stopped in at Hoover Tactical... I had just started my research into the world of semi auto .308 rifles, so was just looking. Ended up with walking out with an HK91 When I saw it, I assumed it was a PTR91 or Century C308; both of which I've handled at Bud's and wasn't a fan. Salesman says, "it's a real one." "A real one what?" "Not a clone or kit, it's nice, here, check it out." I agonized over the decision and justified through, "they ain't making them anymore, they are desirable, it should appreciate, and I know a guy who would probably sell one of his damaged kidneys if I had to sell in a pinch." It's LNIB, except for some marring around the election port. Round count has to be low, there is still finish on the tip of the firing pin and breech face shows no wear. There is little noticeable wear on the metal on metal bits that slide. Came with the test fire docs, dated 10 Nov 1980, unused cleaning kit, manual, shell deflector (? - it's the part in the pic below the stock) sling and 6 mags. Spent way more than I had budgeted, I thought a Springfield M1A variant was iny future. I think I need a bipod.

You'll need a Smatchet to go along with... Cold Steel makes one for about $30. Or, a high end model is over $200...

A nice leather sheath for when you feel like rockin' your Viking / Medieval Warrior vibe? Those are awesome. -
Yep. If I was so inclined to open a gun store, my customers would love the environment. Asking questions to help you make a good decision, figure out what your goal is and finally help you get what you want. When we find the right gun, the price is the price, a few bucks within internet offers, because I have to. But, then, Ma'am / Sir, let's talk about ammo; educate / dispel myths. Walk my guest over to the ammo display...We're running a special on practice and SD ammo right now... Proper storage? Let's walk over and look at holsters, belts, etc and why it's important to buy quality gear. Gotta have a range bag or awesome backpack, check these out... Almost forgot, eyes, ears, cleaning supplies... Every guest, every time. After I ring them up, introduce training into the conversation and refer to quality folks in the area. Here's the truth, most salespeople work in an environment of "get the yes" and while management may say they're interested in a professional sales approach, it's lip service. I sell and in my position get sold to as the point of contact for inbound vendor calls. A vast majority are nice enough, but clueless. It's distressing when they move up a notch, because it's only to one.

Would it be more practical to to quickly dismount, (and I have no idea what that looks like) and pull a rifle from a scabbard be an option? The horse is moving, you are moving, your target is most likely moving, getting hits on target in important places with a pistol may be extremely difficult. Once the gunfire starts, how much more will your horse and threat be moving? I am clueless, my vast experience with horses and gunfights comes from the silver screen. If legal, why not a lever action something? Looks way less threatening to others. Does have a cool factor. As it is not a scoped, traditional hunting caliber rifle, so no real hassles from .gov agencies if stopped and frisked. Another thought, if you dismount and neutralize the threat, would your horse run off from the gunfire? If so, how much walking would you anticipate? Is it easier to shoot a handgun or carbine from the saddle? It's looks equally easy for the goods guys as it is difficult for the bad guys, so you got that going for you.

Similar feelings as @Chucktshoes My opinion, the NRA has been less than faithful with our money, so I with held support. Being the only act in town, I recently renewed my membership. -
Personal Self Defense Encounters?
A.J. Holst replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've had 3 different encounters that could have resulted in violent self defense. In Gatlinburg, 2 dudes loitering in front of bar, blocking the sidewalk. Slowed down our stride, they started the conversation from greater than 6 feet; come on in, we're the doormen / catchers for the bar. In Nashville #1, homeless looking dude approaching while in a hotel parking lot, hands up in the fence, began conversation with, "sorry buddy, can't help you." He wasn't expecting that, immediately turned away and headed in another direction. Nashville #2, standing in front of my hotel waiting on my group, aggressive panhandler needing $1.70 to complete his bus fare. Fence up, "Sorry buddy, I can't help you." He asked again, "it's only a buck seventy." "Sorry buddy I can't help you." Expression on his face indicated I may need to beat him down with my flashlight, key chain or with a quick pistol whipping. In this scenario, it could have escalated from blunt weapons; however for SD, not everyone needs to be shot. From paying attention while navigating unknown contacts, I've probably evaded more potential scenarios than I am aware of. Does drawing on my Roomba count? -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't .44 a very flexible round for reloading? It's got to be cheaper than pre-rolled!

Welcome from Central East TN! Why do you have to drive to Paducah, KY to get to Union City, TN? Beautiful drive, but disconcerting.

I thought I heard once upon a time that Chapter 11 allows restructuring of debt and renegotiation of employment benefits and union contracts.

JUNE 27 Training Day Dayton TN
A.J. Holst replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
@chances R is was great seeing you again, thanks for coming out and and the positive review! What I really enjoyed about this class was seeing alumni reconnect and meeting new clients who have trained with Randy. Without getting too deep into the weeds, a training day can be skill assessment or skill development. This was a skill assessment day, in your laboratory of one, shoot some drills, how did you do? Randy as always, on hand to give advice or lend a helping trigger finger. Fun fact, I believe everyone shot the John Wick Drill slower with their rifle than handgun. @Cruel Hand Luke can you verify? The Ridge allowed us to have 14 handgun and 5 rifle shooters on the line, saving a bunch of time. While it rarely occurs with a modern firearm in good working condition and decent ammo, we had an AR fail to eject and then double feed. Practicing malfunction drills is not being tactically correct or cool, it's just plain smart. We're always looking for feedback to make the client experience better, let us know how we can get better! We offer training in Dayton TN, Rocky Face, GA and Ider, AL, a complimentary one-hour church security seminar and can provide private training at your location.- 2 replies

In the comments, considering the cost of Lego, a real one would've been cheaper. This guy has made some neat stuff, there is a video on the Garand he cameos Digging deeper, the are some Master Artificers building fully functioning Legoarms... Legos I received at 10-12 (40 years ago) where handed down to my son, we then passed them in to younger sons of close friends... Tactically, a handful of Legos on the floor are more effective than caltrops.

Sourced from the Truth about Guns It was bad enough that millions of people lined up outside gun stores beginning in March when national emergency was declared. Sales continued at a brisk pace as news dribbled out of cities and states opening their jails and police departments hobbled by an infected workforce. According to a survey of gun stores, 40% of all of those guns were sold to first-time buyers, people who shrugged off the horror stories and fearmongering of the gun control community in favor of obtaining the means for personal and home defense. All of that was discouraging for our friends in the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex. And then the riots started. Cites were trashed and burned by Antifa-fueled mobs, some spilling into residential areas. That triggered a new surge in gun buying that may very well exceed the earlier one. May set a new record with 1.7 million guns sold, and the violence and rioting didn’t start until the last few days of the month. Now, with the help of their sympathetic and compliant friends in the media, the gun control industry is trying to rally. Yesterday, the Washington Post tried to sell the story that we can’t expect cops’ behavior to improve unless we also enact more gun control laws. At the same time, the Everygreen State New York Times ran an op-ed from our favorite California gun control grifter, Dr. Garen Wintemute (along with a couple of pals) who says he’s worried about the safety of all of those new guy buyers. – Studdert, Miller and Wintemute in Coronavirus Could Make America’s Gun Problem Even Deadlier I didn't read the article, just the excerpt and highlighted the quote. These guys infer all the reported DGUs are perhaps over reported and exaggerated. Unless there is an arrest or a body, how do you report?

I wanted to give a shout out to our very own Tiffany, Aqil and Randy for achieving Master Firearms Instructor from Range Master. This final Development and Certification Course is a 3 day seminar with 24 hours of instruction, coaching, gun handling and adult teaching methodologies. For the instructors, it is the culmination of 64 total hours of intensive training. For a little info on Tom Givens and Range Master https://rangemaster.com/ My hat is off to all professional instructors who seek out continuing education and training; they are looking to get better to be better for their students. These are type of teachers I would recommend folks seek out. Of course I will shamelessly plug @Tiffany Johnson @aqil @Cruel Hand Luke but I am biased as I serve as Randy's valet Congratulations Tiffany, Aqil and Randy for conquering this milestone in your training careers!

Isn't half the battle mentally being willing and able, thinking you can? I'm 52 this month and will view certain tasks, "yeah, I could, but should I? I suspect the other half of the battle is proper gear, technic and good insurance. Regardless, injuries suck - prayers for a rapid recovery! @Raoul you can get ordained at dudeism.com
