What were pre-crazy .30 Carbine prices?
A.J. Holst replied to monkeylizard's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I bought a case of Fiocchi for $.34 per bang late in the Obama administration. If I ever saw it on the shelf, it hovered around $.50 - $.60 per in a box of 50 -
I traded for one last month, it's a keeper, posted a review in another thread.

My best gun buddy started tinkering around with his CZs again, so I offered him my SPD. I don't shoot it and prefer my 75B Omega when I do feel CZexy. He asked if I'd be interested in his Glock 45; great guy, just can't conceal it well due to the full size grip length. Sure, a second Glock in the house is a good thing, especially since #1 is a G3 G17. I never imagined it would become my EDC pistol, considering I'm fairly well invested the Beretta APX series. After I got it, I thought, this is odd, 19 slide/17 frame..did some Googling and discovered it's target audience is LEO vs. civilian. Good news for me as my body shape, professional and casual attire allow me to carry a full size pistol. I have for years and if I'm concerned about printing, I need smaller than the so called compact versions offered. Down to single stack subcompact size. What I like: With medium sized hands - no back strap and undercut trigger guard, I am able to get a nice high grip. My trigger finger / pad is then in a good position to consistently touch the trigger in the same place. I like the little trigger bit of take up, it's smooth with a definite wall. Click (or bang) and reset is as good as any other pistol I own. Grip shape is well done with the slight bevel on the front strap leading in the the sides, texturing is grippy but not ouchy. I like the front grasping grooves, left handed slide release and melted edged. Only upgrade: AmeriGlo sights

I'll not post a pic of my shooter, I want you to still like me

Numrich had zillions still in wrapper, $20 and less based on condition a while back. Last check was current market. If someone figured out how to apply the new change in law used to import from Italy to South Korea, they could flood the market, hundreds of thousands units in SK warehouses?

Concur on the KCIs, I have had good success. I have a few 15 and 1 30 round GI, the springs are so weak I can unload with a good shake and gravity. I upgraded to a M2 mag release on my shooter, a fully loaded 30 rounder can still sag in the magwell. Get a bunch of 15s and load up your pockets. @Garufa I too, am still fascinating by this little rifle. Only have two, a keeper and a shooter and love shooting it.

100% confident with my Kimber Micro .380 Daily BUG carry. It has been flawless in 2 or 3 subcompact / pocket pistol classes.

AAR - Real World Shotgun with Randy Harris
A.J. Holst replied to chances R's topic in Training Discussions
A little more detail Started with history of the shotgun and context; military / law enforcement vs. how it is typically used by civilians. Extended safety discussion with photos...control your muzzle, control your finger and control yourself. Dry work to instill habits of running the slide, dummy rounds to practice loading to keep your giant J-frame running. @chances R is spot on with patterning your shotgun. Standard buckshot at 15+ yards really starts to spread, regardless of the brand of shotgun or ammo. The bestest buckshot for my 870 Tactical is Federal with the flight control was. For the students, we had them shoot one Federal at 15 yards. Every group was fist size with no obvious flyers. Everyone did well with hitting what they were aiming at, both statically and on the move. I mentioned keeping your giant J-frame loaded. Observing the students working out of pockets for the first time or a dump pouch, it is a slow process. A side saddle helps, but routine practice is still in order for smooth and speedy reloads. Last note, the length of pull on most shotguns is perfect for original design, hunting and tracking moving game. For self defense, a shorter length of pull is recommended. I chopped the original stock down on mine and added a limb saver. Made a huge difference. Gained the added benefit of making it easier to switch shoulders. Fun class, unless you hunt or sport with shotguns, they sit for years, dressed up, ready to go and can't get a date. -

The disturbing trend in violent crime encounters is multiple bad guys and girls. Not likely to have time to reload a revolver and figure a minimum of 2 seconds for a pistol, if you're good, practice continuously and not entangled / fending off. And a Tom Givens-ism: a high capacity pistol is not so you can shoot more, it is so you have to reload less. Depending on environment and attire, I will carry a single stack (and a back up) but prefer a full size or compact equivalent for EDC (with a back up) In a society where criminals are emboldened due to the political landscape, do you want to be less armed?

Most of the folks I know who have shared their experience; pretty crappy after the second dose, one to multiple days. I'm having my second next Friday morning. -
The Nature of Self Defense/Policing Changed Yesterday

NY Times, prostitution and unlicensed massage will no longer be prosecuted by the Manhattan DA. That should work out well and have a positive impact on tourism. Extra butter for my popcorn! -
Buck up little camper, the harvest is great and the workers are few. He gives us the choice each day to reflect the light of Christ and fulfill the potential he sees in each and every one of us; to be living examples of Jesus in this world of darkness. Let your words, actions and prayers be the example to gather other to Him through you. For me, the blessings are so overwhelming, I can only say thank you for saying, "yes."

Fine Italian design...the front ledge of the sight hangs over the cover plate. With the casting to enclose the FPB, there isn't enough wiggle room to remove the cover plate.
