Until Saturday, my go to was my Ruger SP101 shooting .38spl or .38+p. Did some minor upgrades with a HiViz front sight, Trausch grips and 10# Wilson main spring. I thought the SP would be replaced by my new AC Commander. Then my buddy offered to sell his CZ-75B Omega It's my new love. The ergonomics are fantastic, it works as a range gun, great for EDC and has been 100% reliable. The reliability comes from the previous owner, thousands of rounds of all different brands with not one failure...

Anyone know who may carry .38 (special or +p) 158gr LSWC-HP in the greater Knoxville area? I can buy it on-line or wait for the gun show, but like to support local business whenever possible! Thanks.

I looked at both the RIA and AC, the AC appeared to have slightly better fit and finish over the RIA, but I was jumping from booth to booth and couldn't compare them side-by-side. Dolomite is correct, the bluing is a bit thin, but for a range gun / EDC, I don't really care. A big plus for the AC is Gander Mountain is a warranty center and the warranty is administered by Bersa / Eagle Imports. I could have gone with either brand, but the reason I ended up with an AC is I wanted a Commander and there were no RIA Commanders at the show when I was ready to buy.

You may want to look at the Metro Arms American Classic Commander. Mine was not flawless and spent some time under the knife (covered by warranty) Pretty well equipped, less than $500.00 and since the warranty work, has been 100% reliable.

Well, there may be a CZ75B Omega in my near future...my best friend has just returned from Afghanistan and gifted himself with quite a few new guns, including a Browning HP. When we were talking he sez, "since I just got a new hi-cap 9mm, I will give (yes give) you the CZ since you shoot it well and like it so much." I am in shock and feeling pretty guilty over his generosity. I would want to pay him something for it, but another gun is not in the budget in the near future. I offered a less than fair trade, my Ruger P95 to ease my conscience. I was not at all suprised when he refused, simply saying when I sell the Ruger, just send him whatever money I get for it. All I can say about this particular CZ, the first time I shot it I was able to walk it right to center of the target and I am not that good a shooter.

I use one for my Ruger SP101. With a 90 day trial, if you don't like, you're not stuck, just send it back to Jimmy.

Just the handgun I am carrying that day plus extra ammo. In the truck, one can always find: 2 or 3 flashlights, a baseball bat, and Gerber hatchet (plus assorted tools for all the MacGyvers who may need some help)

Button, Definitely take Dolomite up on his offer of assistance. I have shot some of his builds, they didn't explode, so I guess he knows what he's doing! He really helped me out with my AC Commander and after you're done, you get to test fire on his private range!

From reading previous posts, it seems, as a rule that the above mentioned round is not the best choice for a handgun. Best I can figure out from the other posts is: being a subsonic round, it may not expand properly coming out of a short pistol barrel. What about through a carbine with a 16.5" barrel?

I ended up with a 5.11 Tactical 1.5" Plain Brown Leather. Works for both work and casual (dress pants and golf / botton down shirt) I have had it for 6 months with every day use. Leather is worn / scratched where my holster clip attaches. Supports an SP101 in a High Noon Hidden Ally very well, even better with a Kholster. Bought it at Green's Military in Knox, $32.95 plus tax MADE IN CHINA --- I wish I had saved up my dollars and supported an American manufacturer!!!

I have the urge to sell my P95 and upgrade to a CZ85. This is based on shooting my buddy's 75 - what an awesome handgun. Another buddy is on an American-made crusade and suggested I consider the S&W. I am familiar with the CZ through association, but don't know anyone who has an M&P for a first hand review / report. Any M&P owners out there? Thanks!

Stopped in at Precision Firearms, about 1 mile past the KFC on Chapman. Met Dan the owner, he has been open about 5 months and operates it with his nephew Jeremy. Small, not a lot of accessories or long guns. 2 cases of handguns, with a pretty decent selection from different manufacturers. Prices seemed very competitive for a brick and mortar. Examples Ruger SP101 $500 Ruger LCR $440 Sig P238 $575 S&W M&P $650 Walther P22 $380 Colt 1911 (not sure of the model, but full size) $975 He does sell ammo, only got a price on .45acp ball, Magtech $27. My guess is all of his ammo is $3 - $4 more per box than WM; I'd rather spend the extra few bucks and support an LGS over a big box. I didn't ask about transfers, but from a previous post, $20 is more than fair. He also advertises for HCPs, but again, I didn't ask. I did buy some targets for some potential Sunday shooting.

Not saying it's right or wrong, but here is what internet sales does to the brick and mortar retailer: Since most folks like to handle the gun they are buying, they visit a brick and mortar or 3; take up the sellers time window shopping; they probably ask questions to get their "expert" informed (or un-informed) opinions; then work the seller for their "best" price, then they go buy on-line. The only way the LGS can compete is to build value! Yes, it may be $75 - $100 more, but what you get is...

Congrats! I carry an SP, it's my go to gun. You can shine it up by hand polishing with Mother's Mag and Alum polish.

Agree with about everybody concerning how you carry - in a pocket, hammerless / shrouded I prefer a hammer, while I shoot DA 90% of the time, you (meaning me) can "target" practice at slightly longer distances with a snubbie using SA.

Fees paid to Fire Companies is not new. My grandfather was a 30 year veteran of the FDNY and had quite a bit of memorabilia. One collection of items were cast iron plaques, typically oval, 12" or so long by 8" in height. The plaques had a image of a what looked to be a horse drawn fire truck or pumper, with numbers bracketing the image. I asked, "what is that?" "Back in the day, you paid a fee to the local fire company and they would give you a plaque. If you had a fire, you were paid up, your fire was put out. The numbers identified which fire company would come to your house." "What if you didn't have a plaque." "The fire department would let your house burn down..."

Welcome to TN and the forum! How big the exit tax you had to pay for the privilege of moving from NJ? I can't help on your question other than my wife has a Walther P22 and so far we have been pleased with the overall quality and reliability of the brand.

As I wait for my AC Commander to be released from the captivity of the gunsmith, I am getting ready to buy some more ammo. I have shot Rem UMC 230 MC and Win 230gr JHP during the break-in, 200 of the Rem and 100 of the Win with no failure to feed, no ammo related failure to fire and no failure to eject. I am new to the claliber, so any recommendations for a good, readily available SD round

G - Hopefully he won't show back up, but like unfortunately, like the proverbial bad penny... I agree with about everybody, have a legal paper trail, 9-1-1 phone log, etc to protect yourself. The positives are you have a beautiful home on a great piece of land. Your neighbors appreciate that fact that you are a responsible gun owner and keep an eye on things. Don't move - I need a local AC expert near by!!!

After shooting my friend's CZ-75B Omega, I wish I had saved up for a CZ-85( ambi-version) I like my P95, but the CZ is definitely in a different class. As a full size, it may not work. Great feeling grip for a hi-cap mag. RIA also makes a 1911 in 9mm +1, 2 and 3 on letting her pick out HER gun!
